Take a Look at the Hot Young George Washington Who Leads Angel Studios’ Biopic
Image
Anyone who purchased tickets to Angel Studios’ upcoming “Young Washington” movie without knowing a single cast member should now have a better idea of what they’re getting into.

“With ‘Young Washington,’ I am honored to be able to show a modern audience what it felt like to be George Washington during such an early and pivotal time in his life — his ambition, his heartbreak, his failures and the events that drove him to become the revered figure we all know,...

How to Buy IMAX Tickets for Christopher Nolan’s ‘The Odyssey’ — 365 Days in Advance
Image
It won’t have to be an Odyssean trek to the theaters for Christopher Nolan fans to snag IMAX tickets to his next film, “The Odyssey.” Two years after Nolan’s Best Picture winner “Oppenheimer” left audiences scrambling for IMAX seats in theaters, tickets for “The Odyssey” will go on sale on July 17, 2025, exactly one year before the film is released.

Advance tickets will only be available at movie theaters with 70mm IMAX screens and only for select showtimes. As we all remember, “Oppenheimer” in 70mm IMAX was a rarity in certain areas with fans traveling across state lines to go to a screening. And that dedication panned out: “Oppenheimer” earned $975 million at the global box office in 2023, with 20 percent of the grosses due to the IMAX tickets.

Keep in mind, though, that a trailer for “The Odyssey” hasn’t even been released yet from Universal… despite those online leaks...

Amazon Prime Video to Other Streamers: You Need Us
Image
The utopian vision of streaming is that one day there will just be one streamer to rule them all, a unified platform that lets you search, browse, and watch everything across all different services in one place. That means no more switching apps, no more remembering separate passwords for individual services, and no guessing which movie or show is on which platform.

Honestly, it’s what cable or satellite with a DVR was like once upon a time, or at least the good parts of cable.

The trouble is, some of the streamers don’t want to cooperate, and no single platform has universally emerged to unify everyone. Amazon Prime Video, however, is making the case that, hey, maybe it should be us.

At an industry event Amazon hosted on Wednesday, June 25 in Culver City, CA called Engage 2025, the research firm Antenna presented data from a study commissioned by Amazon...

'House of David' Season 2 Is Already One Step Closer to Our Screens
Image
As Adonai surely wills it, House of David has already been renewed for a second season, and that did not come as much of a shock. The biblical underdog story, which begins with a life-defining clash between the young teenager, David (Michael Iskander) and the 14-foot-tall giant, Goliath (Martyn Ford), made its mark early on. Streaming on Prime Video, the newly released series took down its own Goliath not so long ago, and fans of the show will be glad to hear that "David and Goliath - Part 2," is only a season finale and not a series finale. More exciting is news that the second season has already begun filming.

Prior to episode 6 dropping Prime Video, House of David was renewed in mid-March. Jon Erwin serves as showrunner, creator and co-writer of the faith-based drama, and he has not been shy about sharing updates regarding the next set of episodes.

Image
Angel Studios has transformed a project formerly announced as TV series into a feature film with a theatrical release — alongside giving it a title switch.

Based on a true story, “Truth & Treason” follows Helmuth Hüebener, a 16-year-old boy who formed a resistance group with his friends Karl and Rudi after witnessing the arrest of his Jewish friends by Nazis. Their brave actions led them facing trial in Nazi Germany.

The film stars Rupert Evans, Ewan Horrocks, Ferdinand McKay, Daf Thomas, and Sean Mahon, and was directed by Matt Whitaker and written by Whitaker and Ethan Vincent.

‘House of David’ Screening Highlights TV and Film’s Role in Shaping Perceptions of Faith and Spirituality: ‘The Culture Needs This Right Now’
Image
Nearly 70 years ago, Edward R. Murrow famously defined television as being much more than merely wires and lights in a box: “This instrument can teach it can illuminate; yes, and even it can inspire,” he said in a famous 1958 address to the Radio-Television News Directors of Association.

The spirit of Murrow’s vision for the medium was reflected in the conversation held this week at Bel Air Church, which hosted a dinner and screening event for an episode of the Amazon Prime Video series “House of David.” The Biblical-themed series revolves around the story of David and Goliath and the fall of King Saul hails from indie studio the Wonder Project and Amazon MGM Studios.

“House of David” bowed Feb. 27 on Prime Video. The show to date has garnered an audience of more than 22 million viewers, which validates Prime Video’s push to add more shows that directly touch on faith and spirituality issues.

Amazon 'House of David' Creator Explains Use of AI in Goliath Origin Scene
Image
House of David is Prime Video's new take on a biblical epic, focusing on the rise of David and set in Israel during 1000 BC. The series has not necessarily been met with widespread acclaim, as critics have been mixed on it. However, audiences have latched onto the new Amazon series, garnering it 22 million viewers in its first 17 days. It's been a hit for the streamer, but a startling revelation made by fans during the latest episode may put some people off from the hit series.

In the opening moments of the sixth episode of the first season of House of David, a pretty extensive origin sequence for Goliath is revealed. It depicts a giant man with large wings meeting a woman. The scale is unlike anything the show has leaned into before, even for a Prime Video production. The creator behind the show, Jon Erwin, has confirmed that AI was...

‘House of David’ Creator Explains Using AI to Create the Goliath Origin Sequence (Exclusive)
Image
The newly released episode 6 of Amazon’s “House of David” opens with a mythical origin sequence for the character Goliath, created in an inventive way by incorporating generative AI tools in the production workflow.

“The entire scene is driven with generative AI tools as the horsepower to the scene. What we found is that these tools work when combined with traditional tools,” Jon Erwin, series creator and co-showrunner, tells Variety. He relates that, originally, this roughly 90-second sequence as scripted was much smaller in scope, but then the filmmakers began to envision more ambitious visuals and incorporate AI applications. “We had gotten permission to use the technology, we had formed a team around it, and [thought] let’s really go for it.”

In all, season one incorporates 72 shots that involved use of AI, and it was a learning process for the filmmakers. “People can make cool images, certainly, and use these tools sort of as consumers,...

Prime Video Historical Series With 89% Rt Audience Score Gets Season 2 Renewal
Image
There has been quite a resurgence in the genre of biblical stories in film and television. With streaming and the movie industry adapting to an evolving taste in storytelling, many studios are looking to particular genres that have been consistent hits with audiences. One area that has been pretty consistent has been biblical stories, whether it be Noah's Ark or the origins of Jesus Christ. Some favorite biblical adaptations in film and television include Mel Gibson's The Passion of the Christ, 1956's The Ten Commandments, The Prince of Egypt, The Nativity Story, VeggieTales, and Darren Aronofsky's Noah.

Adapting biblical stories to the small or big screen has proved an arduous endeavor, as the controversy surrounding the projects is usually inevitable. However, seeming inaccuracies aside, a few storytellers have been able to adapt certain stories and have found much success with the outcomes. Image
House of David Season 1 presents an expansive reimagining of a well-known biblical account. The narrative follows the early life of David within the ancient Kingdom of Israel, set against the backdrop of 1000 BC.

The story raises questions about societal roles and the nature of leadership in a time when established norms were often challenged by emerging forces. Its depiction of familiar figures is handled with an attention to detail that opens a window into the cultural conversations of today.

Directed by Jon Erwin and Jon Gunn, the production carries forward a history of faith-based storytelling while adopting modern visual techniques that honor historical accuracy.

House of David is a Sweeping Story Filled with Triumph and Treachery
Image
The following contains spoilers for House of David, which debuts Thursday, Feb.27, on Amazon Prime.

House of David is a sweeping biblical epic that embraces a more majestic style of storytelling. Lifted straight from the Old Testament, creator Jon Erwin has crafted something bewitching from this rags-to-riches tale. Looking to replicate the historical epics of Cecille B Demille with mythical undertones, House of David is an awe-inspiring social commentary piece. One filled with larger-than-life characters resurrected from religious writings, headlined by unknown actor Michael Iskander in the title role. A fresh-faced farm boy elevated to the rank of King, anointed by God’s will to rule over Israel.

These opening episodes make it clear how much Amazon Prime has invested. This Middle Eastern epic feels lavish, with billowing Bedouin tents and battlefields packed with armies. Authenticity feels paramount from the outset, inviting audiences to experience David’s rags-to-riches story. With...

Prime Video's 'House of David' Trailer Teases 'Game of Thrones' Action for Beloved Bible Story
Image
The tale of David vs. Goliath is one of the most popular and inspiring stories in anthropological history (originating in the Christian Bible), but you've never seen it told like this. The ultimate underdog story should need little introduction, as David, a small shepherd from the Valley of Elah, Israel, took down the mighty, bronze-armor adorned giant, using nothing but a slingshot — spoiler alert. The story has been told, and re-told countless times. But, a new Prime Video series is adding a flare of drama, and appears to be heavily inspired by HBO's Game of Thrones.

House of David has transformed the biblical story into an eight-episode series. The series was created by Jon Erwin (Jesus Revolution & American Underdog) and Jon Gunn (Ordinary Angels), based on an idea by Erwin and The Chosen creator, Dallas Jenkins. Up-and-coming actor, Michael Iskander, best known for starring in the award-winning stage musical, Kimberly Akimbo,...
