Kim Burgess is about to experience new heights of trauma if a recent image shared on Instagram of series star Marina Squerciati is a good indicator. Production for the thirteenth season of the police procedural Chicago P.D. is ongoing. The series, produced by Dick Wolf, is gearing up for another dark and action-packed season, and viewers are getting a glimpse of this ahead of the fall return. The official Instagram account for Wolf's production company, Wolf Entertainment, shared an image of Squerciati in the makeup chair as the show's team put on some blood splatter on, teasing a rough story for the character. It's unclear from the image what this arc entails, but it will be interesting to see.

Following Toya Turner's surprise departure from Chicago P.D. ahead of Season 13, the show has a replacement lined up. Arienne Mandi (The Night Agent) was cast as Naomi Kerr in the upcoming season and will play a major role. Series star Benjamin Levy Aguilar recently shared a post on his Instagram account revealing that Mandi was on the Chicago P.D. set, ready to bring Kerr to life. "Welcome to Chicago Ari muff! Cant [sic] wait for all of you to see her in action!" he captioned the post. The carousel shows one image of himself and Mandi smiling, while another shows the new addition on the trailer section of the production set.

Arienne Mandi (The Night Agent) has joined the cast of Chicago P.D. as a series regular for Season 13.
Sources close to production tell Deadline, Mandi will play Chicago P.D. officer Naomi Kerr. She is a former soldier and military contractor who is said to thrive in dangerous situations. She is described as a fearless outsider who keeps her cards close to the vest. Names and character descriptions could be changed at any stage of production.
Chicago P.D. follows the men and women of the Chicago Police Department’s elite Intelligence Unit, combatting the city’s most heinous offenses – organized crime, drug trafficking, high-profile murders and beyond.
Naomi arrives at a particularly chaotic time for the team, following the murder of Deputy Chief Charlie Reid (Shawn Hatosy), orchestrated by Sergeant Hank Voight (Jason Beghe). Although Detective Kim Burgess (Marina Squerciati) and Officer Dante Torres (Benjamin Levy Aguilar) are off...

Per Deadline, Arienne Mandi (The Night Agent) has just been cast as a series regular in Chicago P.D. Season 13, filling in the void left by Turner's departure. Mandi is playing the role of Naomi Kerr, described as a "former soldier and military contractor who is said to thrive in dangerous situations," as well as a "fearless outsider who keeps her cards close to the vest." When one door closes, another one opens. Or in the case of Chicago Pd, when one officer’s watch ends, another’s begins. Chicago Pd has added a star from one of Netflix's biggest shows, tapping a key star of The Night Agent for a major role in season 13!
As first reported by Deadline, Chicago Pd has welcomed Arienne Mandi to the cast of season 13 in what is being described as a series regular role.
While Mandi’s character information could change, she is currently attached to play Chicago P.D. officer Naomi Kerr. Officer Kerr is a former soldier and military contractor who has a knack for thriving in dangerous situations, something we’re sure is going to help her thrive on the Intelligence Unit, which is known for being thrust into dangerous situations.
Interestingly, she’s also described as being a “fearless outsider,” known for keeping things close to her vest.

Chicago P.D. Season 12 cranked up the heat for Sergeant Hank Voight (Jason Beghe) with the introduction of a new antagonist to handle. To help fulfill that role, in came Deputy Chief Charlie Reid, played by Shawn Hatosy. A cunning and calculated operator, Reid is a dirty cop who blackmails colleagues into doing his bidding and, for much of Season 12, he had Voight and his Intelligence Unit on the ropes. However, the strings of the puppet master were snapped when, in the Season 12 finale, Voight sanctions a hit on Reid with Reid shot and killed by Rennie Otero. The war between Voight and Reid was a drawn-out, protracted conflict, which could still have ramifications for Voight and his team when the show returns in the fall.
Voight's decision to orchestrate Reid's murder ultimately has him coloring outside the lines far more than he normally would. His decision is questioned by the sergeant's love interest,...

Chicago Med will be reaching a major milestone in its 11th season, premiering in fall 2025: its 200th episode! It will be airing as the second episode. Its 100th episode featured Maggie (Marlyne Barrett) and Ben’s (Charles Malik Whitfield) wedding; sadly, their marriage didn’t last. Its 150th episode also featured a wedding — April (Yaya DaCosta) and Ethan’s (Brian Tee) — and was Tee’s final episode. It also revealed that Jack Dayton (Sasha Roiz) was in charge of the hospital after buying a controlling interest in Gaffney Medical Group. Elsewhere in the One Chicago world, both Fire and P.D. reached their 200th episodes. In Fire’s in 2021, Casey (Jesse Spencer) left Chicago for Oregon (but returned as a guest star multiple times). And on P.D. in 2023, Burgess (Marina Squerciati) faced her Pts from being shot, with a shooting victim on a train then rescuing a kid in a well.

There have been many Chicago P.D. roster changes over 12 seasons, and now another series regular is handing in their badge. While previous reports stated all One Chicago leads will return for the 2025-2026 season, only Jason Beghe’s name was on the list for Chicago P.D. As it turns out, the Chicago P.D. cast is getting smaller after all.

Everybody’s got a secret… theirs just comes with a badge. That’s how we’d sum up Chicago P.D., and today, it applies doubly to Toya Turner, who’s reportedly exited the crime procedural ahead of Season 13. While NBC has zipped its lips on the reason, Turner issued a graceful goodbye.
Her short but searing arc added depth to the show’s tough-as-nails tone, yet her abrupt exit, amid emotional subplots and onscreen chemistry, raises more questions than answers. Who pulled the plug? Why now? And what happens to that simmering tension with Torres (Benjamin Levy Aguilar)?

Voight’s unit is changing once again on “Chicago P.D.” Toya Turner, who joined the show during Season 12, will not return for the upcoming season in the fall.
“My time on Chicago P.D. has come to a close. This show challenged me, sharpened me, and revealed what l’m made of. I’ve evolved through this experience, both as an artist and in my craft, and I’m walking away with depth, clarity, and momentum for whatever comes next,” Turner wrote via Instagram on Thursday. “To the cast and crew: thank you for the warmth, the laughter, and the generosity you brought every day. It was an honor to share the screen and the set with such talent.”
She continued, “To the ChiHards: thank you for welcoming me, rooting for me, and showing Kiana love. And to everyone who believes in me: your support means the world. I’m excited for the opportunities ahead.

Another shake-up is headed to Intelligence—and this one stings. Toya Turner has exited Chicago P.D. and won’t be returning as Officer Kiana Cook when the long-running NBC drama returns for its thirteenth season. The reason for her departure hasn’t been made public, but Turner released a short statement confirming her exit: “I’m grateful for the time I had bringing Kiana to life. Thank you to everyone who welcomed me so warmly.”
Turner’s departure is another blow to Chicago P.D., which is still feeling the effects of Tracy Spiridakos’s goodbye in the Season 11 finale and Jesse Lee Soffer’s earlier exit as Jay Halstead. It also comes as sister series Chicago Fire prepares for Season 14 without Daniel Kyri and Jake Lockett. Yes, they are indeed dropping like flies.

Alvin Olinsky (Elias Koteas) was among the original set of officers that populated the Intelligence Unit in the Dick Wolf police procedural drama, Chicago P.D. Old-school, just like Sergeant Hank Voight (Jason Beghe), the pair seemed to understand one another deeply, and together they knew just how much of the law to bend to obtain justice. Season 12 of the series saw Voight square up against the cunning Deputy Chief Reid (Shawn Hatosy), who sought with all his might to bring down Voight and his team. Just like with several others who came before, he loses and Voight wins, doing so by sanctioning the shooting that claims his life. While there were failed attempts to dissuade Voight from making his plans, series showrunner Gwen Sigan believes that Voight's old pal, Olinsky, would have gotten through to him, preventing the death of the deputy chief.

As Chicago Pd gears up to begin production on its new season next month, it seems Wolf Entertainment and NBC wanted to make sure one key member of the cast was locked in for the new season well in advance!
Deadline has confirmed that Jason Beghe will be back for season 13, guaranteeing Hank Voight will not be going anywhere. Beghe is still under a multi-year deal, with it seeming that NBC simply opted to pick up his option for the 2025-26 season.
While we know that Beghe will be back for season 13, the status of the rest of the Chicago Pd cast remains unclear. The hope is that the full ensemble will return for the show’s forthcoming season, this includes Marina Squerciati (Kim Burgess), Patrick John Flueger (Adam Ruzek), Laroyce Hawkins (Kevin Atwater), Benjamin Levy Aguilar (Dante Torres), Toya Turner (Kiana Cook), and Amy Morton (Trudy Platt), all of whom are hoped to return.

Baby news on NBC’s Chicago Med and Chicago Fire has fans in a tizzy since watching the show’s respective season finales.
To ease some tension, Steven Weber, who plays Dr. Dean Archer on Chicago Med, answers many of our burning questions about the finale, plus shares insight into what Season 11 could look like.
In review, the recent Season 10 finale of Chicago Med saw Dr. Hannah Asher (Jessy Schram) knock on someone’s door, to reveal that she is pregnant. The set-up was a bit of trickery, leading viewers to believe Asher went to see her ex-boyfriend, Dr. Mitchell Ripley (Luke Mitchell); however, the final beats of the episode showed it was Archer on the other side of the door.
The baby wasn’t planned and took Asher by surprise, but perhaps not as shocking as it was for Archer and the viewers, who never knew the colleagues had ever hooked up.

The successful One Chicago universe is experiencing another period of growth; however, the upcoming project will take on a completely new format. NBC's popular three-show franchise launched in October 2012 with the premiere of Chicago Fire. Since then, the network has released three spinoffs, one of which was canceled after only one season (Chicago Justice), but the other two are still going strong, along with Chicago Fire. Heading into the 2025–2026 TV season, the fictional universe has produced 36 seasons and over 700 episodes. Now, it's set to expand once more.

Strong friendships have been born in Chicago P.D. throughout the years, as some duos feature great chemistry. However, some characters barely interact outside of work. While Kim (Marina Squerciati) is a great asset to the team, she hasn't been lucky with friendships, especially with other female characters. Squerciati hopes that the show will address this issue in the coming seasons, especially with the addition of a new female character to the team. "I didn’t get a relationship with Tracy [Spiridakos]. I have talked about that in the press. That made me sad," she told Deadline at the Atx TV Festival. "I would love to see a female relationship blossom on this show. I really love Toya [Turner], and she’s a fresh voice on the show. I also feel like [Kim is] a bit of a mentor to Cook (Turner), and I’d love to see that grow as well," Squerciati added.

Kim Burgess (Marina Squerciati) and Adam Ruzek's (Patrick John Flueger) wedding happened in Chicago P.D. Season 12. Despite a buildup lasting over a decade, the season finale rushed through the wedding without much fanfare, to the point where there were no vows. Many viewers were disappointed by how everything unfolded. Deadline caught up with Squerciati at the Atx TV Festival, where she discussed what went down. "People definitely wanted more after waiting 12 years," the actress told the outlet, highlighting the significance of the wedding. "But that’s not our show," she added. Chicago P.D.'s tone is not wedding-friendly, which was the biggest challenge. "Unless there was, like, a bloody gown, then, I don’t know. I think we would be less happy. At least I had a moment to be pretty," Squerciati said.

Detectives Jay Halstead and Hailey Upton tied the knot in Chicago Pd with a basic courthouse wedding, but the wardrobe department had plans in mind for Hailey’s dress had the show opted for a more formal affair. Neither Upton nor Halstead stuck around long enough to feature in the Chicago Pd season 12 cast, but their characters are still very much in fans’ hearts and minds since their departures. Chicago P.D. Season 12 wrapped with the long-awaited Burzek wedding, as Kim Burgess (Marina Squerciati) and Adam Ruzek (Patrick J Flueger) finally made it to the altar after years of ups and downs. But despite the buildup, many fans felt let down as the wedding was treated more like an afterthought than a centerpiece. Viewers had hoped for a more emotional moment, perhaps even an exchange of vows, but the event was overshadowed by the finale’s climactic showdown between Hank Voight (Jason Beghe) and Chief Reid (Shawn Hatosy). Still, it marked a step up from the show's previous wedding between now-departed characters Hailey Upton (Tracy Spiridakos) and Jay Halstead (Jesse Lee Soffer), which was a brief courthouse affair. With the Burzek wedding dominating conversation post-finale, Chicago P.D.’s costume designer, Susan Kaufmann, is reflecting on Upton’s low-key Season 9 wedding and what could’ve been.

Chicago Pd Season 12 left multiple characters at risk of leaving the NBC series following crucial, impactful storylines that affect their future. Chicago Pd is one of the long-running series on NBC under the One Chicago banner, and major characters have come and gone throughout its 12-season run.
Jesse Lee Soffer's Jay Halstead left the series in Chicago Pd Season 10, while other key cast members like Sophia Bush's Detective Erin Lindsay and fan-favorite Al Olinsky (Elias Koteas) left due to career progressions and death, respectively.
In Season 12, some characters' futures became unknown due to past mistakes. Chicago Pd consists of its core cast led by Jason Beghe as Hank Voight, Patrick Flueger as Adam Ruzek, Laroyce Hawkins as Kevin Atwater, Marina Squerciati as Kim Burgess, Benjamin Levy Aguilar as Dante Torres, Amy Morton as Trudy Platt, and Season 12 newcomer Toya Turner as Kiana Cook.

The much-anticipated Chicago P.D. Season 12 finale has come and gone, and it delivered a cocktail of feelings to the fans. While much of what was teased in the build-up was delivered, there was a last-minute twist. Chief Reid (Shawn Hatosy), the season’s central antagonist, was finally taken down, thanks to a stealthy outmaneuvering from Hank Voight (Jason Beghe). After initial hesitation, fan-favourite couple Kim Burgess (Marina Squerciati) and Adam Ruzek (Patrick Flueger) finally tied the knot. However, the final moments left a bitter taste as an emotional conversation between Voight and Chapman (Sara Bues) dashed the hopes fans had nurtured all season for a potential romance between the two. Now, showrunner Gwen Sigan has elaborated on Chapman’s emotional response to her discovery about Voight.
Chapman has, throughout the season, served as the voice of reason for Voight, substituting herself in a role previously played by the departed Detective Upton.

Burzek's wedding finally occurred in the last approximately sixty seconds of the Chicago P.D. Season 12 finale despite a twelve-year buildup. The show did not give the couple their vows, so there was no typical flair associated with weddings. Viewers should not expect to see anything more about that. "There’s a version of this, yeah, sure, where we could jump back into the wedding, but I doubt it," showrunner Gwen Sigan told TV Insider when asked if the show will revisit the wedding in Season 13. "[Their vows were] definitely not shot. We definitely didn’t shoot anything," she revealed. "They’re not just hanging out for us to put out there, but who knows? You never know, I suppose, where we could take the next season." However, there was a rationale behind how events unfolded. The team had secured a major win, but it came with a cost, which Chapman (Sara Bues...

Kim Burgess (Marina Squerciati) and Adam Ruzek's (Patrick John Flueger) wedding was low-key. Everything else besides the gorgeous bride and groom was relatively mundane, but that was not always the plan. Chicago P.D. showrunner Gwen Sigan revealed that at some point, the show had considered making it a grand event and bringing back some cast members who had departed. "I think there was a moment where we were like, 'Oh my gosh, what if we could bring back everybody and have Upton (Tracy Spiridakos) and Halstead (Jesse Lee Soffer) show up?” she told TV Insider. However, given all that was happening in the episode, the wedding turned out to be a small affair, and it would not have been wise to have the actors appear. She explained:
"It ends up just becoming about production at the end of the day. We would’ve loved that, but to have these...

[Warning: The below contains Major spoilers for the Chicago P.D. Season 12 finale “Vows.”] Considering the episode title, it is surprising that in the Chicago P.D. finale, we don’t see Burgess (Marina Squerciati) and Ruzek (Patrick John Flueger) exchange theirs. Don’t worry, though, because they are married when Season 13 begins. What’s less certain? The status of Intelligence. After all, Reid (Shawn Hatosy) did open up investigations into their actions, and yes, he was dirty. That is now clear, thanks to Voight’s (Jason Beghe) actions, including moving the pieces into place for the son of the drug dealer Reid had killed to fatally shoot the deputy chief, but any fallout remains up in the air. Below, executive producer Gwen Sigan breaks down the finale, explains why we didn’t see more of the Burzek wedding, and teases what’s to come. Will we see the parts of Burgess and Ruzek’s wedding we didn’t? Gwen ...

Chicago Pd season 12 has officially come to an end, and the finale most certainly did not disappoint!
The penultimate episode of the season set the stage for a very Voight-centric episode, and the finale found a perfect balance between spotlighting Voight’s battle with Reid and giving fans a fulfilling celebration of Burgess and Ruzek. It was a true full-circle episode, bringing a fitting culmination to the season’s main arc, while planting some major seeds for the next season.
To unpack how the finale came together and the implications its developments will have on season 13, One Chicago Center caught up with Chicago Pd showrunner Gwen Sigan to discuss "the challenge of integrating a romantic milestone into the series’ signature grit, while maintaining the emotional stakes that shaped every character arc in the episode —especially for Voight, whose journey this season has been defined by introspection and the inevitable return of his darker instincts.

NBC’s Chicago P.D. fans are in for a double treat tonight as the Season 12 finale addresses two major plot points left unresolved for two happily ever afters.
Let’s start with Voight (Jason Beghe) and his tumultuous relationship with Reid (Shawn Hatosy), which heats up and boils over in tonight’s episode, “Vows.” I assure you, the vows were not between Voight and Reid, but we can discuss that later.
Voight is fed up with Reid and launches a full-on attack in “Open Casket.” Voight isn’t here for the intimidation, and he won’t have his team threatened. The time is now to bring Reid down, and Voight is willing to do whatever it takes to get the closure he needs. Therein lies the problem.

The Chicago P.D. Season 12 finale will be a romantic ending to a special season. The show, during its multi-season run, has thrown up a number of romances, including a somewhat unexpected romance between Hank Voight (Jason Beghe) and Nina Chapman (Sara Bues). The police procedural drama introduced Chapman as Illinois' Assistant State Attorney in Season 9 and in the seasons which have followed, the pair have gotten closer and closer. Fast-forward to Season 12, Episode 4, the attorney opened up to Sergeant Voight about her feelings towards him. Their romance plot has since taken a backseat in recent episodes, but there is set to be movement in the right direction in the Season 12 finale.
While Chapman might be feeling the blues, Voight hasn't exactly caught the fever yet. Chicago P.D. showrunner Gwen Sigan, while speaking with ScreenRant, discussed how the show might address this romance plot. Since returning from her trip, Chapman has...

Chicago Pd blew our collective mind in the episode "Open Casket." We knew that Deputy Chief Charlie Reid (Shawn Hatosy) was going to be a difficult adversary to take down, but we didn't expect him to cause as much damage as he did prior to the season 12 finale.
Not only did Reid get two Iu members fired, but he got the entire unit shut down pending further notice. We have never seen a situation more serious than this, and Chicago Pd stars Patrick John Flueger and Marina Squerciati emphasized this point during a recent interview with TV Insider.

The Chicago P.D. Season 12 finale finds the Intelligence Unit in a precarious position, akin to lying on their backs after the rug has been pulled from under them. Reid (Shawn Hatosy) did a number on the members by stripping them of their powers and opening them up to legal consequences. "Forced to cease operations while under investigation by Internal Affairs, Intelligence goes off-book to bring down Reid. Ruzek (Patrick John Flueger) and Burgess (Marina Squerciati) consider delaying their nuptials amid the uncertainty," the logline for Chicago P.D. Season 12, Episode 22, "Vows," teases. However, Intelligence is not like other units; it's more about the people than the powers they have as police officers. And one thing they won't do is go down without a fight. Images from the finale tease their desire to fight back as they regroup amid an uncertain future.

Will Intelligence be able to come back from this? After playing a game of cat and mouse with Deputy Chief Reid (Shawn Hatosy) in Chicago P.D. Season 12, Episode 21, "Open Casket," Reid one-upped Intelligence. He came through on the threats he'd been dangling over them for most of Season 12 as Torres (Benjamin Levy Aguilar) got arrested and Burgess (Marina Squerciati) was stripped of her badge. "Forced to cease operations while under investigation by Internal Affairs, Intelligence goes off-book to bring down Reid. NBC released a sneak peek of the season finale episode airing on May 21, previewing the current state of things.

Chicago Pd has rolled out some compelling cases of the week over the last month, but "Open Casket," the penultimate episode of season 12, gets down to business. The Iu need to take down Deputy Chief Charlie Reid (Shawn Hatosy), so it makes sense the episode opened with Hank Voight (Jason Beghe) and Ada Nina Chapman (Sara Bues) conferring on what the best attack plan is.
Spoilers ahead!
Voight and Chapman have been keeping tabs on Reid's increasingly risky operations behind the scenes. The Deputy Chief has slowly but surely been seizing control of gangster Jesus Otero (Juan Javier Cardenas) and his drug dealing operation, and ordering the Iu to arrest any competition. The team hadn't really been keeping up their end of the bargain, however.
Reid threatened Voight during the opening scenes of "Open Casket," and told him to increase the overall productivity of the Iu or there would be trouble.

None of the cops on Chicago Pd are millionaires. They are working people, and they risk their lives on a regular basis to make sure that Windy City civilians are safe with little to show for it. Cash is tight for Adam Ruzek (Patrick John Flueger) and Kim Burgess (Marina Squerciati), in particular, which is why the events of the episode "Black Ice" were such a nice change of pace.
