David Bowie’s life and career are memorialized in the new trailer for “Stardust” starring Johnny Flynn from IFC Films.
“Stardust” will examine the life of Bowie before he became one of the most iconic artists in the history of music. The drama is set in 1971, when Bowie was 24 and journeying on his first trip to America with his struggling publicist Ron Oberman, played by Marc Maron. During this period, Bowie created his alter-ego Ziggy Stardust, a turning point in his legendary career that marked the beginning of his meteoric rise.
Johnny Flynn, singer and songwriter for the band Johnny Flynn & The Sussex Wit, will portray Bowie. His previous acting credits include Autumn de Wilde’s “Emma” from earlier this year, “Beast” in 2017, the 2014 drama “Clouds of Sils Maria” and more.

A movie based on the life of legendary musician David Bowie was inevitable, and thus we have our first trailer and poster for Stardust, which introduce us to actor Johnny Flynn all glammed up as Bowie for the upcoming biographical drama. This first footage from Stardust gives us a good idea of what to expect from the movie, and certainly shows that Flynn has gone through a few ch-ch-ch-ch-changes.
While Johnny Flynn only begins to look like David Bowie if you squint really hard until your eyes are practically closed, he does look to be bringing some real dedication to proceedings, exuding the real man's laid-back confidence as well as his inner vulnerability. While Stardust looks far too ordinary a biography to be a true reflection of the eccentric musical genius who defied genre, it at least looks like a classy enough affair, with the poster in particular taking clear inspiration from the era.

The creative team behind the hit vampire web series Carmilla is set to launch a new show. On May 16, Canadian producer Shaftesbury will launch Clairevoyant, a supernatural comedy about a pair of psychics, on its KindaTV channel.
Clairevoyant will star Natasha Negovanlis and Annie Briggs (both of whom have roles in Carmilla) as a pair of roommates who look to make a quick buck by going into the psychic business. Their plans take a turn when Claire, portrayed by Negovanlis, discovers that she possesses honest-to-god psychic powers.
Negovanlis and Briggs raised funds for Clairevoyant via Indiegogo, where they scooped up more than $25,000 from backers last year. As a result, they were able to put together 14 five-minute episodes, which will be released between May 16 and May 30.
“My co-creator Annie Briggs and I became fast friends on the set of Carmilla and came up with the idea while bonding over our mutual fascination with fortune telling.
