Aussie thriller Fragment's long journey
A scene from Fragment..

When Fragment, an Australian thriller from first-time writer-director Andrew Miles is released on DVD in November, it will mark the end of a long and chequered journey for the filmmaker.

The plot follows Lloyd, a war photographer who is diagnosed with a brain tumour after fragments of depleted uranium penetrate his skull. He fears the tumour is killing him but discovers he's acquired the power to reanimate the dead by photographing them.

After witnessing a snuff movie, he brings the victim of the film, the beautiful and enigmatic Victoria, back to life, only to find out he's also brought back her dead killer. Wayne Bradley plays Lloyd, with Bree Robertson as Victoria and Ian S. McPhee, Miles. best friend, as the killer.

Miles started shooting the thriller in Sydney using $20,000 of his own money. The original DoP quit after the first weekend and his camera assistant...

Grimmupnorth 2010 lineup announced!
Grimmupnorth 2010 is coming to Manchester for a second time this Halloween! Readers may remember last year’s coverage from the first Grimmfest last October ‘09. Well, we’re going back for more this year too. Festival director Simeon Halligan and his crew have spent all year finding some amazing new titles to screen at Manchester’s biggest horror film festival, including Evil: In The Time Of Heroes, which I missed at Eiff so am well up for seeing. There’s also the inventively named Canadian shocker, Dead Hooker In A Trunk, the Japanese genre mash-up Alien Vs Ninja, Thai thriller Slice, Zombie mock-u-mentary Reel Zombies and a horror doc featuring all kinds of industry insiders, The Splat Pack. There’s also a ton of activities and seminars for festival goers to participate in too. Personally I’m looking forward to the special screening for my favourite Argento film, Deep Red.

An Australian horror film, "Fragment," which has already seen theatres down under, is releasing the first official trailer and movie poster. Previously known as "Shape," and now "Fragment," this film offers a tale of resurrection and murder. Looking chilling enough to preview "Fragment," will be making its way to North American theatres after distributors are found. Have a look at one of the more mature themed trailers inside.

And special thanks to Ian S. Mcphee who has a given, this horror enthusiast, the heads up on the official "Fragment," website. Additional photos, cast and crew information can be found at the homepage below. As well, a second poster, possibly official, is now up on the "Fragment," website. Check it out.

Fragment of Fear: Exclusive trailer and more!
The ongoing trend of visceral Australian horror delves into dark psychology as well with Fragment, the feature debut of writer/director Andrew Miles. The recently completed film was produced by Kelvin Crumplin and executive-produced by Graham Broughton and Michael Favelle (the latter of whom provided Fango with an exclusive first look at the trailer; you can see that preview, and a couple of exclusive photos, below).

“It began with a fantasy I had about breaking into someone’s apartment and finding a beautiful dead woman lying on the floor naked, and wondering who she was,” Miles explains. “This idea then floated around as a David Lynch-type short story, where a guy spends the afternoon with the woman’s body. This time, however, she is alive and then dead again, like a time loop. But it was basically about falling in love with a dead woman and finding out who...
