Noah Baumbach in Greenberg (2010)
The U.S. government is using Scarlett Johansson and Adam Driver’s screaming scene from Marriage Story to ward off wolves
Noah Baumbach in Greenberg (2010)
The U.S. government is using one of Hollywood’s most memebable moments of the past decade to save animals! Finally, a story about the nation’s vampires-in-charge that gives you the warm and fuzzies instead of dry heaves! In a stroke of genius, the United States Department of Agriculture is using Noah Baumbach‘s iconic scene of Scarlett Johansson and Adam Driver screaming at one another in the 2019 drama Marriage Story to save livestock on farms across America.

According to The Wall Street Journal, the ultimately uncomfortable custody battle scene discourages wolves from attacking cattle and livestock, a process called wolf hazing. Before using the climactic scene from Marriage Story, farmers used the song “Thunderstruck” by AC/DC, giving an alternative to Brian Johnson’s intense, screeching vocals and Angus Young’s masterful guitar licks.

“Riding to the rescue are drone cowhands, whose quadcopters have thermal cameras that can reveal...

Snowpiercer Should Continue with a Spinoff After the Finale
Image
Quick Links What Happened in the Snowpiercer Finale? What a Potential Spin-Off Could Look Like

All aboard. Snowpiercer has wrapped its four-season run by pulling into its final destination. When TNT unceremoniously dropped the series after Season 4 was filmed, AMC came in to ensure the series and the fans would receive the proper send-off. The ending brought things full circle, with the passengers once again fighting to take back their train. It brought a sense of closure for our main characters, with almost everyone getting their happy ending. But not every loose end was tied up, and there's a chance we could see more of this frozen world someday.

While the creators admitted that this was the end of the story for now, they didn't entirely close the book on a future sequel/spin-off. While that's welcome news for fans, there are other angles that the online community would like to explore.

‘A Mistake’ Review: Surgeon Elizabeth Banks Gets Blamed for a Patient’s Death in an Effective Drama on Medical Ethics
Image
It’s been 16 years since Christine Jeffs’ last feature, the seriocomic Amerindie sleeper “Sunshine Cleaning,” with Amy Adams and Emily Blunt. Her new feature “A Mistake” hews back to her 2001 debut, “Rain,” in that it is set in her native New Zealand and adapts its script from a Kiwi author (in this case Carl Shuker’s fifth novel). Though not a knockout, the director’s return affirms her knack for intelligent adult drama, here hinging on issues of medical ethics and bureaucracy — Elizabeth Banks plays an Auckland surgeon whose reputation and career are threatened when a patient dies after what had been anticipated as a routine procedure. Quiver Distribution is releasing the Tribeca-premiered film to 100+ U.S. theaters this Friday.

The distractingly named Elizabeth Taylor (Banks) is a highly regarded specialist, woken from a nap during one long night-shift by an emergency: A patient previously discharged as having minor ailments...

Snowpiercer Season 4, Episode 5 Review: Ben Overshadows a Return
Image
The following contains major spoilers from Snowpiercer Season 4, Episode 5, "The Engineer," which debuted Sunday, August 18 on AMC.

At the midpoint of its final season, AMC's Snowpiercer throws a curveball. It's not the return of the show's biggest villain; it's what happens to one of its heroes. Season 4, Episode 5, "The Engineer" is Bennett Knox's turn in the spotlight, and while the episode does what any TV fan who's watched the last season of a great show is waiting for, the execution by the actors is almost perfect. Audiences who've been waiting for a big shock certainly get it.

"The Engineer" continues the trend of shifting narration by having Ben tell the story, and his job title being the title of the episode suggests that something major will happen to or around him. And unlike prior Snowpiercer Season 4 episodes, this one delivers... thanks to some wonderful performances by Goldberg, Mickey Sumner and Rowan Blanchard.

A Mistake Review: A Nuanced Character Drama
Image
Elizabeth Banks commands the screen as distinguished surgeon Dr. Liz Taylor, grappling with turmoil both personal and professional in A Mistake. Adapting Carl Shuker’s novel, director Christine Jeffs crafts a nuanced portrait of accountability through a deceptively simple medical drama.

During a routine procedure, Taylor’s inexperienced registrar, Richard, makes a mistake with lasting consequences. A young patient named Lisa doesn’t survive complications, throwing the hospital into disarray. Taylor insists on taking full responsibility to protect Richard, unprepared for the storm ahead. Questions linger over duty and mistake, liability and lives.

Resolute in her skills, Taylor faces conflicts internally and externally as the tragedy’s effects spread. Hospital administration and the patient’s grieving parents demand answers, testing Taylor’s discipline and principles. Banks skillfully brings the star surgeon’s unraveling to life, navigating trauma with a tangible humanity. Subtleties in directing and storytelling probe complex issues of...

Image
Snowpiercer, the apocalyptic sci-fi drama, is nearing the end of its journey as the fourth and final season is set to air on AMC+ beginning July 21. It's an ending that fans of the show were almost denied, as the series was canceled by TNT after the fourth season had already finished filming. AMC picked up the season, and showrunner Paul Zbyszewski has now spoken with Screen Rant about bringing a satisfying end to the series, which stars Daveed Diggs and Jennifer Connelly and is based on the 2013 Bong Joon-Ho film of the same name.

Zbyszewski had a big task going into Snowpiercer season 4, taking over as the showrunner for the final season and crafting an ending that satisfies fans. He said the vewers' expectations are considered, but ultimately the writers must serve the character first. Check out what he had to say below:

"For us, it was really in the writers' room.

Snowpiercer Season 4 Review — A Disjointed Final Season Spoil Good Performances
Image
The choice to readapt Bong Joon Ho’s popular sci-fi dystopian was always a heavy burden. Yet Snowpiercer, which jumps to AMC and AMC+ in its final season, proved a unique adventure. Expanding the world far beyond the scope of the train, the series approaches its final season with patience. However, due to fracturing storylines, some of the most popular characters are pushed to the side. For some, the direction of the final season will be difficult to enjoy. Still, with a new group of antagonists and plenty of emotional farewells, Snowpiercer concludes.

A Mistake Review: Elizabeth Banks Captivates In Stressful Medical Drama That Retains Its Humanity
Image
A Mistake explores the consequences of a single error in a heartfelt and emotional way. Christine Jeffs expertly delves into ethics and emotional accountability in the medical field. Elizabeth Banks shines in a challenging role that balances vulnerability and detachment.

Medical dramas can often be sensationalized and dramatic for the sake of stirring up conflict; A Mistake is anything but. Deftly written and directed by Christine Jeffs, who adapted Carl Shukers novel of the same name, the drama sidesteps fictional medical tropes for something that is all too real and emotional. A Mistake is thorough in examining what happens when a medical mistake occurs, and the consequences that come up because of a moment gone wrong. In doing so, Jeffs explores ethics, moral and emotional accountability with a compassionate and nuanced eye.

‘A Mistake’ Review: Elizabeth Banks Delivers Powerful Turn In Grim Medical Drama – Tribeca Festival
Image
Elizabeth Banks has one of her best roles to date in A Mistake, the New Zealand-set medical drama that had its world premiere Friday night at the Tribeca Festival.

It might be easy to forget that Banks is one of the best actors out there, especially since she also is known these days as a director (most recently Cocaine Bear) and even game show host (Press Your Luck). But as her most recent acting work in films like The Beanie Bubble and Call Jane proves again, she has real acting chops and always has. Therefore it is nice to see her sink her teeth into a major lead role in an intense but understated and dedicated turn as a brilliant and confident surgeon whose one routine mistake during an operation spirals out of control. In the process, her life becomes a mess, making her question just exactly who she really is,...
