Welcome To Eden Ending Explained
Image
Welcome to Eden was a fast-paced and surprising thriller series that stood out with its social commentary and lyrical nature. The show received positive reviews and was praised for blending outlandish elements with a grounded story of cultish belief and family strife. Unfortunately, Netflix canceled the show after season 2, leaving many unanswered questions and unresolved plotlines for fans.

The woefully short-lived Netflix exclusive thriller series Welcome to Eden featured an ending that pointed to big things in the future for the show, but they never came to fruition. Debuting in 2022, the Spanish program chronicles the harrowing adventure of several young people who are tricked onto a mysterious island where they are held captive by two aspiring cult leaders. Fast-paced and surprising, Welcome to Eden checked all the boxes of a convincing thriller and added a dash of 21st-century social commentary which helped it stand out from its contemporaries. It had...

Man From Rome – Review
Image
Richard Armitage as Father Quart, in The Man From Rome. Courtesy of Screen Media

If you’re craving a Da Vinci Code sort of movie but don’t want to concentrate quite that hard, The Man From Rome may be your answer. The plot, penned by Adrian Bol, Beth Bollinger and Gretchen Cowan, is very Dan Brownian but shorter and with fewer moving pieces and locations. Hunky Richard Armitage stars as a Vatican troubleshooting priest who we quickly understand to be the Church’s go-to guy for dangerous missions. Not so much for gruesome cleanups like Harvey Keitel’s memorable Mr. Wolf, in Pulp Fiction but where there’s a problem, Armitage’s Father Quart is reliable for a solution. The film opens with his being bummed about someone he was unable to protect on a recent job. Not his fault but guilt lingers, regardless.

Switch to the Vatican’s computer center.

“Vatican intelligence operative Father Quart (Richard Armitage) investigates an anonymous message sent to the Pope concerning a crumbling Spanish church that ‘kills to defend itself,’” reads the official synopsis for The Man from Rome. “A deep conspiracy unfolds that puts Father Quart’s loyalty and faith to the test.”

Based on the novel The Seville Communion by Arturo Perez-Reverte,...

The Man from Rome Review: A Thriller with Many Sins
Image
Is there anything better than a good thriller? There are few things in cinema that are as in intellectually investing as attempting to solve a mystery. It pumps audiences full of tension and adds an undeniable sense of engagement to a movie or TV show. However, a good thriller that really sinks its teeth into its audience is very rare to come by. We look at recent greats like Prisoners, Oldboy, Parasite, Se7en, and Inception as shining examples of flawless thrillers, and what others in the genre should certainly look up too.

So far, 2023 has been a satisfying year for fans of thriller movies. Missing and Knock at the Cabin are not just the best thrillers of the year, but are also among the best thriller movies of the young decade so far. Naturally however, there have been many which have failed to hook audiences into their complex mysteries, and unfortunately,...

Richard Armitage Learns The Tragic History Of A Church In The Man From Rome Clip [Exclusive]
Image
Some churches have more of a tragic history than some expect, as seen in a The Man from Rome exclusive clip. Based on Arturo Pérez-Reverte's novel La piel del tambor, the story centers on Richard Armitage's Father Quart, a Vatican intelligence operative who is tasked with investigating a crumbling Spanish church that is said to "kill to defend itself," a warning brought forth when a hacker sends an anonymous message to the Pope. Alongside the Hobbit trilogy alum, the cast for The Man from Rome includes Amaia Salamanca, Fionnula Flanagan, Franco Nero and CSI's Paul Guilfoyle.

Ahead of its theatrical and digital release, Screen Rant can exclusively present a new The Man from Rome clip.

The video, as seen above, finds Armitage's Quart visiting Salamanca's Macarena at a nearby church, Our Lady of Tears, of which her family founded. Initially sharing a romantic moment between the two,...

Richard Armitage is a Vatican Operative in 'The Man from Rome' Trailer
Image
"The deaths – are they accidents... or murder?" Screen Media Films has unveiled the official trailer for a thriller titled The Man from Rome, which is the English title given to this Spanish film starring Richard Armitage in Italy. This already opened in Europe last year under the original Spanish name La Piel Del Tambor, though it doesn't seem like it's good enough to get a proper theatrical release in the US. Vatican intelligence operative Father Quart (Richard Armitage) investigates an anonymous message sent to the pope concerning a crumbling Spanish church that "kills to defend itself". Sent to Seville to investigate, a deep conspiracy unfolds that puts Father Quart's loyalty and his faith to the test. Armitage co-stars with Amaia Salamanca, Paul Guilfoyle, Paul Freeman, Rodolfo Sancho, Fionnula Flanagan, Carlos Cuevas, along with Franco Nero as "El Papa", The Pope. This looks so wacky - Vatican hackers, a priest with a gun,...

‘Welcome to Eden’ (2023) Season 2 on Netflix
Image
Welcome to Eden is a Spanish series for Netflix created by Joaquín Gorriz and Guillermo López Sánchez starring Amaia Aberasturi, Amaia Salamanca and Belinda.

The second season of this series of beautiful people, framed in an idyllic landscape, takes us to this plot of crimes, ambitions and lots of unleashed hormones.

It may not have pleased the critics, but the formula has worked for them in terms of audience, so we won’t get too much into it, because the audience is the harshest critic and this industry, after all, is here to entertain the public.

Welcome to Eden gives what the public wants from it, and its success speaks for itself.

Welcome to Eden About the Series

A series that’s clear about it: it knows what audience it’s targeting, and, with a fast-paced thriller and intermingled stories, it knows how to give what’s expected and heat...

‘Paranormal Xperience’ Blu-ray 3D Review
Stars: Amaia Salamanca, Maxi Iglesias, Lucho Fernández, Úrsula Corberó, Óscar Sinela, Alba Ribas, Manuel de Blas, Eduard Farelo | Written by Daniel Padro | Directed by Sergi Vizcaino

When you’ve watched horror for most of your life you tend to have seen a lot of the gimmicks used to try to make the genre more interesting, even if we didn’t need it. 3D is one, if we can still call it a gimmick that keeps on re-appearing and while sometimes it works, others it just feels like it’s forced in. There are arguments for the use of 3D, such asGravity but with Paranormal Xperience is it really needed?

Paranormal Xperience features your normal horror film style story, with five students travelling to an abandoned mining village to investigate the supernatural. Said to be haunted by the spirit of the evil Doctor Matarga the students are there to see if...

Paranormal Xperience 3D Becomes Xp-3D Via New Spanish Poster And Website
Last week we bought you a few new international one-sheets for Spanish horror flick 'Paranormal Xperience 3D'. It's the project that seems to be hurtling through as many name changes as Prince and what it appears we should now be referring to as 'Xp-3D'. Sony Pictures have released a new one-sheet and official website for the Sergi Vizcaino helmed horror flick and 'Paranormal Xperience 3D' seems to have been downsized to the forementioned 'Xp-3D'. Its all quite a departure from original title 'Scars' ('Cicatrices') but there's no doubt that the new and more succinct title change will help draw hordes of txt-happy illiterate teeny-boppers looking for a fun ghost story. Amaia Salamanca, Maxi Iglesias, Luis Fernandez, Nasser Saleh and Albert Vidal all star in the Uni-based spectre tale. Check out the new poster below....

Spanish production company Rodar y Rodar, whose credits include The Orphanage and Julia’s Eyes, is delving further into the horrific. It has some new genre features in the works, including one from Eyes director Guillem Morales.

Screen Daily reports that Morales will helm the $17-million, English-language Venom from a script he wrote with Eyes collaborator Oriol Paulo. The story concerns experiments with snake poison for medical applications being conducted on a remote island, and the horrors that ensue after an accident occurs. “We are looking to have an A-list cast for the project and are excited about the film’s potential,” Rodar y Rodar president Joaquin Pedro tells the trade; Venom is slated to film in 2012. Meanwhile, Paulo is also set to script and direct another English-language thriller, The Body, about a police inspector whose investigation into a woman’s murder leads him to suspect her husband.

Cast Ready to Have a 3D Paranormal Xperience
After looking at the recent box office totals for the last couple of 3D films (other than that Justin Bieber spectacle), the cast may be the only ones having said experience considering the fans haven't been showing up.

In any event, Screen Daily reports that Amaia Salamanca, Ursula Corbero, Alba Riba, and Oscar Sinela join the previously announced Nasser Saleh, Luis Fernandez, and Maxi Iglesias in the cast of director Sergi Vizcaino's Paranormal Xperience 3D written by newcomer Dani Padro.

Padro's plot focuses on a group of teens in an abandoned town who are hunted by a mad doctor. Of course they'll run into some type of paranormal whatever-it-is while there. You can't just have a paranormal flick about a slasher. Unless said slasher is ... a Ghost!!!!! *Cues spooky music*

I know, we just totally blew your mind, right? Shooting commences this May in Barcelona.

Teaser Trailer for Webcam with Robert Englund
Antoni Sole asks for you to "watch close" in his teaser trailer for the upcoming thriller Web Cam 3D , but to be honest, all we can see is a close-up of a woman's face and a lot of "shaky cam." Nevertheless, this is your first look at the film, announced in December , which stars Robert Englund and Amaia Salamanca. Michael Madsen and Estella Warren's names were attached to that official announcement, but we don't see them on the IMDb listing anymore. Abs Productions is shepherding the film. If you take a look at their official site , they've got a number of films in development including Director's Cut with Mick Garris and Peter Medak writer and directing, respectively. In the initial Web Cam 3D press release, the film was said to be about a man who...

Robert Englund Turns on His Web Cam 3D
Can you imagine Freddy himself reaching off the screen and clawing you to death? That was attempted with "varying" degrees of success with Freddy's Dead: The Final Nightmare, but in the latest film from Spanish filmmaker Antoni Sole entitled Web Cam 3D, Robert Englund will be getting another shot at the whole three-dimensional thing, sans the character of Freddy of course.

Screen Daily reports that Robert Englund, Michael Madsen, Junio Valverde, Amaia Salamanca, and Estella Warren are set to star in this latest horror feature, which tells the tale of a man who invites a group of teens to a party to film their exploits inside a house via web cams. Viewers are then asked to vote on who should die and who should live.

Familiar ground, we know, but the really good stuff lately has been coming from Spanish directors. Let's hope that trend continues here.
