Podcast Shocker: NFL Media’s Surprise Cull Of Hit Show ‘Around The NFL’ Sparks Dismay Among Fans, Colleagues & Contributors
Image
NFL Media’s surprise decision to cut much-loved football podcast Around The NFL has sparked dismay and regret among colleagues, contributors and fans on both sides of the pond.

The widely respected podcast ran for more than a decade and comprised regulars Dan Hanzus, Marc Sessler, Gregg Rosenthal and the late Chris Wesseling, as well as a number of NFL Network contributors.

It built a particularly loyal fanbase in international markets with the team regularly traveling to London NFL games, hosting events in the city and appearing on Sky Sports’ NFL coverage.

The irreverent and informed show aired multiple times a week and was also broadcast on the Network but suddenly went quiet without warning this summer. Listeners’ fears were confirmed when the network confirmed yesterday that it wouldn’t be continuing with the show and that Hanzus and Sessler would no longer be at the company. It said it...

NFL Network has canceled NFL Total Access after 21 years on the air, Deadline has learned.

Amid the major changes at the network, the football news show, which premiered in 2003 and airs on weeknights, was canceled.

“Like any successful organization, the NFL regularly evaluates its workforce to ensure the proper support of strategic priorities including international expansion, the growth of flag football, and the evolution of digital and media platforms,” an NFL spokesperson said in a statement. “We have made the difficult decision to part ways with some employees to allow us to further invest in these growth areas and ensure the continued strength of our game and the business.”

NFL Total Access’s most recent roster included Mike Yam, Kimmi Chex, David Carr, Michael Robinson and Chase Daniel. According to a report from The Athletic, the last show for NFL Total Access is set for May 17.

Michael Irvin Out At NFL Network Amid Major Shakeup
Image
NFL Network is cutting ties with commentator Michal Irvin after 15 years, Deadline has learned. Irvin’s exit comes amid a major shakeup at the network.

The former Dallas Cowboys wide receiver had been at the network since 2009. Irvin made headlines when he was booted from NFL Network’s Super Bowl coverage in 2023 following a complaint from a woman as he checked into his hotel. Irvin denied wrongdoing and filed a defamation lawsuit alleging he was falsely accused.

After being taken off the air, Irvin returned to the network later that year at the start of the NFL season.

As NFL Network Cuts Staff, Moves 'Good Morning Football' to LA, Is the NFL Preparing to Invest in ESPN?
Image
Veteran names like Palmer, Selva, Siciliano and Stark are out at NFL Media, which could soon fall under ESPN’s purview.

NFL players who get cut often cite the fact that the league is a business, first and foremost. This week, some high-profile NFL Network personalities found the same hard truth staring them in the face, as the league decided it was time to move on from Andrew Siciliano, Melissa Stark, James Palmer, and Will Selva. Normally these personnel cuts wouldn’t attract much more than well-wishes for the departing talent, but in this case, there is room to speculate that the moves are designed to help the NFL streamline its media operations in preparation for a big deal with Disney and ESPN.

The NFL could be attempting to cut costs to make its media segment more attractive to ESPN. Disney has been in talks with the league regarding purchasing a minority stake in ESPN,...

Where Can You Watch “Good Morning Football?”
Image
Nothing beats waking up with a hot cup of coffee and your favorite television show! If you’re a Sunday football fan, you know the fear of waking up on Monday morning with no new games until the weekend.

However, you may not know about the show “Good Morning Football” which allows you to watch football highlights and news with your morning coffee, even on weekdays. Currently, you can stream “Good Morning Football” on NFL Network Live or on ESPN for full coverage of all things football.

About “Good Morning Football”

“Good Morning Football” is a live coverage morning program from the NFL Network, originally airing on August 1st, 2016. Did an ESPN Anchor Plagiarize Orange County Register Columnist?
Did an ESPN anchor plagiarize an Orange County Register columnist? It would certainly appear that way. Kevin Ding, the Register's Los Angeles Lakers beat reporter, noticed that an ESPNews anchor repeated the beginning of one of his columns verbatim during a report broadcast Tuesday. Via Ding's blog post: I got back to my hotel room late Tuesday night after the Lakers-Spurs game and turned on Espnews’ “Highlight Express” show. Imagine my shock when anchor Will Selva proceeded to use the first several paragraphs of my column looking forward to the game as his...
