Just when we were about to dive into the mind-bending world of Beyond the Spider-Verse, news dropped that shook up the whole Spider-Man universe. Per Puck News’ latest report, Entertainment network Sony’s on the verge of parting ways with Spider-Verse’s duo Phil Lord and Chris Miller.

After a number of bloated runtimes and technically inept entries, it’s something of a relief to watch Amityville Christmas Vacation (2022). The 55-minute film doesn’t even try to hit feature length, which is a wise decision for a film with a slight, but enjoyable premise.

The amusingly self-aware comedy is written and directed by Steve Rudzinski, who also stars as protagonist Wally Griswold. The premise is simple: a newspaper article celebrating the hero cop catches the attention of B’n’B owner Samantha (Marci Leigh), who lures Wally to Amityville under the false claim that he’s won a free Christmas stay.

Director Steve Rudzinski‘s Amityville Christmas Vacation is said to be a “wacky parody of both Amityville movies and romantic Christmas films,” and it’s now available on VOD outlets.

In the comedy-horror movie, “Wally wins a trip to Amityville and his antics lead to a ghost falling in love with him. Can the spirit of Christmas bring them together?”

The premise of Scream Park - a horror movie originally funded through Kickstarter – is that the Fright Land amusement park is on the verge of closing down for good. In a desperate move to pull in customers the owner Hyde (Doug Bradley) hires two maniacs to enter the park and murder the employees who have gathered to party.

Ok, let’s get this straight, I found that Scream Park somewhat of a mixed bag. With some questionable acting and a fairly basic story there are points that it did struggle and I found myself having to consider the fact that it was made on a small budget. Though Scream Park does have moments that redeem its weaker elements.

When Steve Rudzinski (who serves as writer, director, and actor for the film) conceived of Everyone Must Die, he envisioned a slasher film in which we never learn the motivation of the killer. Instead, he wanted the film to focus on the hunt for and death of the killer. Enter Kyle (Nick Lamantia), an average Joe/ex-Marine deadset on hunting down the guy who brutally murdered his sister. With the help of a conspiracy theorist, Kyle learns the his sister’s killer has been brutally massacring people from town to town, with the police trying to cover up the massive scale of the murders.

Amusement parks certainly have the potential to be creepy. We saw that in Funhouse and plenty of films since. Now a film that actually started as a Kickstarter campaign and succeeded in raising the funds brings a new angle to the amusement park horror idea. Take a look at Scream Park.

Starring legendary genre actor Doug Bradley (of Hellraiser fame) and the always horrifically active Nivek Ogre (of Skinny Puppy), Scream Park is currently in production. The film stars Bradley, Ogre, Wendy Wygant and Steve Rudzinski. Cary Hill will be directing and producing the film.
