10 Years Later, Vin Diesel's Teasing a Sequel to His Forgotten Fantasy Film
Image
Vin Diesel is still ready to revisit the world of The Last Witch Hunter.

Per Instagram, the Hollywood action icon recently teased the long-awaited follow-up to The Last Witch Hunter on social media. Diesel posted an image of himself sporting his iconic look from the film, along with the caption "Kaulder..." in a nod towards his open desire to return to the character.

Directed by Brick Eisner from a screenplay by Cory Goodman, Matt Sazama, and Burk Sharpless, The Last Witch Hunter starred Diesel as Kaulder, a former knight cursed with eternal life by the Witch Queen over eight hundred years before the story picks up in the modern day. The film follows Kaulder as he carries out missions on behalf of the Axe and Cross, a clandestine order dedicated to keep the peace between humankind and witches around the world. As the story of The Last Witch Hunter unfolds,...

Ari Aster at an event for Hereditary (2018)
Ari Aster Was Approached to Direct ‘Morbius’
Ari Aster at an event for Hereditary (2018)
Ari Aster was approached to direct Morbius, the filmmaker reluctantly revealed in a recent interview Semafor.

Following the success of Hereditary and Midsommar, Aster met with Sony about turning the Marvel Comics character into a film — but it was decidedly not Morbin time, as Aster instead went on to make Beau Is Afraid.

Released in 2022, Morbius ended up being written by Matt Sazama & Burk Sharpless (“Lost in Space”) and directed by Daniel Espinosa (Life) with Jared Leto in the titular role.

Aster’s new film, Eddington, is in theaters today from A24.

Joaquin Phoenix and Pedro Pascal star in the contemporary western alongside Luke Grimes, Deirdre O’Connell, Micheal Ward, Amélie Hoeferle, Clifton Collins Jr., William Belleau, Austin Butler, and Emma Stone.

In May of 2020, a standoff between a small-town sheriff and mayor sparks a powder keg as neighbor is pitted against neighbor in Eddington, New Mexico.

Meagan Navarro wrote in her review,...

Sony Offered 'Morbius' Directing Job to 'Eddington' Director Ari Aster
Image
Once upon a time, not so long ago, Sony Pictures attempted to create a cinematic universe based on Spider-Man, without the web-slinger himself. It went as well as Marvel fans expected, with Morbiusquickly becoming one of the most infamous (and worst) superhero movies of all time. If it wasn't already clear that the studio has in over its head with the idea, they tried to hire one of the most unique filmmakers working today to helm the box office flop.

While on the Mixed Signals podcast, Eddington director Ari Aster revealed that Sony approached him years ago to helm Morbius, which starred Jared Leto. Aster kept things brief and didn't divulge any details, but it is safe to say that the conversations with Sony probably did not get very far. Despite featuring a Spider-Man character and some star talent, Morbius proved to be a disaster for the studio, one that...

Vin Diesel Teases the Return of 'The Last Witch Hunter'
Image
Now that his tentpole action franchise, Fast and Furious, is approaching the finish line, Vin Diesel is on the hunt for another series he hopes will dominate the box office. With another Riddick adventure already on the way, Diesel has teased what’s next on his agenda, suddenly teasing a long-awaited sequel to a long-forgotten fantasy action failure.

Taking to Instagram, Diesel shared a “throwback” image of himself sporting the glorious long hair and beard of the movie’s main character, and immortal witch hunter, Kaulder. Pairing the image with the simple caption, “Kaulder…,” it’s obvious that the actor is teasing the return of The Last Witch Hunter franchise. A franchise that, while now largely forgotten, carries a lot of potential for further adventures.

Released back in 2015, The Last Witch Hunter takes inspiration from a character that Diesel himself made for his personal Dungeons & Dragons campaign. The fantasy action outing centers on Kaulder,...

Forgotten Vin Diesel Chiller Is Now the #1 Horror Movie on Netflix
Image
A much-maligned Vin Diesel picture is presently finding new life on the Netflix charts. It has an abysmal reputation with both critics and fans but the fact that the flick is charting seems to suggest that there’s a certain merit to it. I’ll level with you, I have a soft spot for this one. The Last Witch Hunter is not necessarily a great movie but it’s an escapist action-horror spectacle that’s never boring.

The Last Witch Hunter landed on the Netflix platform on June 16 and has been making waves since. Today the flick sits in 8th place overall and comes in as the most-watched horror movie on the streamer. This suggests that I may not be the only one with a soft spot for this oft-maligned effort. Sure, it’s not fine art but you could certainly do worse if you tried.

Diesel toplines the picture,...

10 Years Later, Vin Diesel's Underrated Fantasy Film Finds New Success on Streaming
Image
Vin Diesel is generally synonymous with the Fast & Furious franchise, where he plays Dominic "Dom" Toretto. Outside of the high-octane film series, the actor can be seen in other action-packed movies.

One of them was the highly underrated fantasy film The Last Witch Hunter. The film premiered in 2015 and was critically panned, but Lionsgate still decided to bet on a sequel that has yet to materialize. 10 years after its premiere, The Last Witch Hunter is making a splash on streaming, Tudum reveals.

The Last Witch Hunter premiered on Netflix on June 16, and it didn't take long to attract the subscribers' attention. For the week between June 16 and 22, the film debuted in fourth place on the domestic charts. It fell just behind Gerard Butler's Plane, which rose to the top of the charts in the U.S. with 6.6 million globally, the documentary Trainwreck: The Astroworld Tragedy, and Tyler Perry's thriller Straw,...

Vin Diesel’s Fantasy Epic That Helped Him Cope With the Loss of Paul Walker Hits Streaming Charts
Image
Vin Diesel will always be known for his work as Dom Toretto in the Fast & Furious movies, but 10 years ago, he starred in a fantasy epic that’s found new life on streaming. Diesel features alongside Elijah Wood and Michael Caine in The Last Witch Hunter, the 2015 film following a witch hunter who stands between humanity and the deadliest witches in history. The Last Witch Hunter began streaming on Netflix not long ago, and the film wasted no time climbing to the top of streaming charts, sitting at #2 at the time of writing, behind only Gerard Butler’s Plane. The Last Witch Hunter earned poor scores of 18% from critics and 42% from audiences on Rotten Tomatoes, and it grossed $146 million at the box office against a $90 million budget.

Vin Diesel’s Fast & Furious co-star, Paul Walker, passed away on November 20, 2013, less than a year before The Last Witch Hunter began filming.

'Land of the Lost' Reboot Roars to Life at Netflix
Image
A new reboot of a cult classic science fiction adventure series is coming to Netflix. Deadline reports that Land of the Lost, a 1970s kidvid favorite about a modern family stranded in a prehistoric wilderness, is getting a reboot courtesy of Netflix and Legendary Television. The short-lived series already inspired a reboot series in the 1990s, and a big-screen comedy adaptation starring longtime fan Will Ferrell.

The original series was the brainchild of Sid and Marty Krofft, a pair of Canadian TV auteurs who made a huge splash in kids' TV in the 1970s, with projects like Lidsville, Far Out Space Nuts, Sigmund and the Sea Monsters, Electra Woman and Dyna Girl, and H.R. Pufnstuf. Their work was characterized by slapstick humor, surreal puppet creatures, and low-budget chroma-key special effects; their shows have earned the duo a cult following among Generation X. Marty died in 2023, but Sid Krofft and Marty’s daughter,...

Madame Web Star Dakota Johnson Reveals One Good Thing To Come From Her "Worst Actress" Razzie Award Win
Image
Sony Pictures' Madame Web was nominated for six Razzie Awards this year, and ended up walking away with three "wins" for Worst Picture, Worst Screenplay, and Worst Actress, with star Dakota Johnson singled out for her... uneven performance.

The Materialists star took this dubious honor in her stride, and has now revealed that something positive did come out of her Razzie win, as she ended up being contacted and congratulated by one of her screen idols.

"I got a voice note from Sandra Bullock, because I don’t know if you know, but I won the Razzie for Worst Actress," Johnson said on the latest episode of Amy Poehler’s “Good Hang” podcast. "Sandra Bullock sent me a voice note being like ‘I heard you are in the Razzie club and we should have brunch, we should have a monthly brunch.’ Because I guess she won that the year that...

Madame Web Unused Promo Material Features Major MCU References To Thanos, Hulk, Carol Danvers, And More
Image
We have heard numerous reports about Sony Pictures' original plans for Madame Web, which - if rumors are to be believed - was going to be set in the same universe as The Amazing Spider-Man at one point before the decision was made to connect the movie to the Ssu (Sony's Spider-Man Universe).

Though it's been said that Tom Holland's take on Peter Parker was going to appear (see Daniel Richtman's post below), Madame Web ultimately turned out to be more of a standalone story with only tenuous ties to the wider Ssu. However, it seems the studio was determined to push a connection to the Marvel Cinematic Universe in the early marketing stages.

Some photos of popcorn buckets and drink holders that were sent out to various theater chains before being recalled have been shared online, and the unused promo art takes the form of Daily...

Here’s Who Took Home The Golden Raspberry At Razzies 2025 (Photo Credit – Facebook)

Hollywood’s 2024 movie lineup was a mix of blockbuster triumphs and box office disasters. While films like Inside Out 2 and Deadpool & Wolverine shattered records and earned critical acclaim, others failed to impress, leaving audiences and critics underwhelmed. The industry celebrates cinematic excellence with the prestigious Oscars as award season arrives. However, ahead of this year’s Oscars, we have the Razzies 2025.

Just a night before the Academy Awards, the Golden Raspberry Awards, commonly known as the Razzies, shine a less flattering spotlight on the year’s worst films. This year’s winners (or losers) have been announced, and some of Hollywood’s biggest names have found themselves on the receiving end of these dubious honors.

'Madame Web' Wins the Razzie for Worst Picture, Beating 'Joker: Folie à Deux' and 'Borderlands'

With the 97th Oscars just days away, celebrating the best movies and performances of 2024, the 45th Razzies is highlighting the worst of the worst. Among the films nominated for Worst Picture, Madame Web took home the top prize.

Among the other films nominated for the Golden Raspberry for Worst Picture were the highly anticipated sequel (and highly disappointing), Joker: Folie à Deux; Francis Ford Coppola's bizarre Megalopolis; big-budget (and bigger bomb) video game adaptation, Borderlands; and the Reagan biopic with Dennis Quaid. But it was Madame Web that came out as the winner. Or would that be the loser?

15 Best TV Shows Like Star Trek
Image
We may receive a commission on purchases made from links.

The "Star Trek" franchise spans more than five decades, starting with "Star Trek: The Original Series" in 1966. The adventures of Captain James T. Kirk (William Shatner), Mr. Spock (Leonard Nimoy), and the rest of the USS Enterprise crew changed TV as we know it. It centered on an inclusive ensemble cast and featured one of the first interracial kisses seen on TV. It also gave viewers an idea of what the future could look like amid a space race that would include the Apollo 11 crew walking on the moon three years after the show premiered.

The show's themes of inclusivity, curiosity, and hope in the future transcend several TV series and movies. While this rich universe offers plenty of content for fans to binge long and prosper, there are plenty of other shows that boldly go where no one has gone before.

The nominees were chosen by 1,202 members of the Golden Raspberry Foundation, including movie fans, critics, and journalists. This year, many comic book adaptations received nominations, such as ‘The Crow,’ ‘Madame Web,’ ‘Joker: Folie à Deux,’ and ‘Kraven the Hunter.’

Several well-known actors, including Ariana DeBose, Cate Blanchett, and Joaquin Phoenix, were also mentioned, with Jon Voight getting a nod for his roles in four films. 2024 was really bad for superhero adaptations considering that the movies received eighteen nominations overall.

Sydney Sweeney Reportedly Agreed To Make Madame Web To Convince Sony To Greenlight Anyone But You
Image
Sony Pictures' Madame Web managed to assemble an impressive cast of already established stars and young up-and-coming actresses to play the lead roles... which may have been somewhat baffling to anyone who watched the movie.

We have heard that the movie turned out to be very different to the one the cast signed on to appear in, with a reworked (and inferior) script and a rushed production resulting in the disjointed mess that went on to bomb at the box office and earn an abysmal 11% on Rotten Tomatoes.

It's entirely possible that the cast simply didn't realize what they were getting themselves into (nobody sets out to make a bad movie... which can be hard to believe sometimes), but a new report claims that Sydney Sweeney may have had her own reasons for agreeing to make the film.

According to THR, Sweeney agreed to appear in Madame Web to convince...

Morbius Star Jared Harris Reveals Relatable Reason Why He Starred in the Marvel Flop
Jared Harris
Acclaimed English actor Jared Harris has had an undeniably illustrious career, delivering Emmy-nominated performances in Mad Men and Chernobyl to supporting roles in Robert Downey Jr.'s Sherlock Holmes: A Game of Shadows. But the star has also experienced some bumps in the cinematic road - namely in the form of his role as Dr. Emil Nicholas in the flopped Spider-Man spin-off Morbius, which Harris has candidly described as a job he took solely to pay the bills.

Since its debut in 2022, the Internet has formed an interesting love-to-hate relationship with Morbius. The failed Marvel property is notorious for its disappointing reviews and dismal box office performance, which is something that Harris is evidently very aware of. Speaking to the U.K.'s iNews, Harris humorously confessed that he only signed onto Morbius in order to pay his mortgage.

Jared Harris Acted in ‘Morbius’ Flop Because ‘I’ve Got a Mortgage to Pay’ and ‘Sometimes You Say Yes to Things Because You Need to Make Money’
Image
Jared Harris’ esteemed acting career includes Emmy-nominated performances in “Mad Men” and “The Crown,” plus roles in movies such as David Fincher’s “The Curious Case of Benjamin Button,” all of which makes his supporting role in Jared Leto’s infamous comic book flop “Morbius” such a strange outlier. And yet, sometimes an actor just needs to pay the bills.

“I have got a mortgage to pay, you know,” Harris told Britain’s i newspaper when asked about signing on to “Morbius.” “Sometimes you say yes to things because you need to make money.”

When asked what went wrong with the film, Harris responded: “I have observed that those types of films do well if you have a sense of humor. You can’t treat it as though it’s Shakespeare. So yeah, that movie could have done with a more mischievous sense of humor.”

Harris starred in “Morbius” as Dr.

10 Weirdest Zords in Power Rangers
Image
There are many iconic aspects of the Power Rangers franchise, including the multicolored costumes and helmets, the rubber-suited monsters, and, of course, the Megazords. These giant robots have become an essential component, with every iteration of Power Rangers featuring several Megazord variations.

As every Megazord is made up of individual Zords, each season of Power Rangers introduces a large variety that come together to form the giant robot. With the sheer volume of Zords in the 30 seasons of the series, some stand out as memorable and well-designed. However, some stand out as weirder than others, whether for their design, concept, or adaptation from the Japanese counterpart, Super Sentai.

The 2017 Power Rangers Movie Megazord Looked Like a Transformer

Morbius Director Daniel Espinosa Candidly Admits His Part in Sony's Jared Leto-Starring Marvel Flop
Image
Morbius director Daniel Espinosa has opened up about his 2022 critical and box office flop and revealed that he believes he was not a good fit to direct the movie. Espinosa is best known for crime thrillers like Easy Money, Safe House, and Child 44. His 2017 film Life generated a great deal of buzz because Sony Pictures produced it, and many thought it was going to be a stealth prequel to Venom. While that did not turn out to be the case, Espinosa was hired to direct Morbius in June 2018 in what would eventually become a four-year project, since Morbius was delayed from 2020 to 2022 due to the Covid-19 pandemic.

Since the release of Morbius, Espinosa has moved on, and is back to his roots with the thrillers Madame Luna and The Helicopter Heist. Speaking with Deadline, Espinosa talked about his struggle making Morbius, a film that notably went through various behind-the-scenes changes.

Forget Gods Of Egypt, Watch This $456 Million Gerard Butler Action Movie Instead
Image
Gerard Butler's peak action film is the iconic 300, marking a legendary role that still resonates today. Despite star performances in Gods of Egypt, the film falls short in comparison to Butler's most memorable roles. 300's plot and visuals far surpass those of Gods of Egypt, making it a more entertaining watch for action movie fans.

Nevermind Gods of Egypt, Gerard Butler's best action movie came out nearly two decades ago. While Gods of Egypt features star performances from Butler, Nikolaj Coster-Waldau, and Chadwick Boseman, the film wasn't able to inspire the level of cultural phenomenon that some of Butler's better-known films have accomplished. Gods of Egypt was directed by Alex Proyas and written by screenwriting duo Matt Sazama and Burk Sharpless.

Released in theaters on February 26, 2016, Gods of Egypt flopped at the box office, earning just over $150 million against a lofty production budget of $140 million. As...

Emma Roberts Believes "Internet Culture" Was To Blame For Madame Web's Negative Reception
Image
It's probably fair to say that Madame Web always had a pretty steep hill to climb after becoming meme-fodder immediately after the release of its first (and only) trailer, but right from the opening scene with Cassie Webb's (Dakota Johnson) mother in the Amazon researching spiders just before she died, it seemed clear that Sony Pictures' latest Ssu movie was most likely not going to be a massive hit!

To be fair, the movie did end up surpassing (just about) the $100 million mark worldwide, but with a reported budget of around $80 - $100 million, and an abysmal 11% on Rotten Tomatoes, we can't imagine seeing much more from Miss Web and her teenage Spider-Women pals anytime soon.

Some felt the movie wasn't quite as bad as it was made out to be, while others were of the opinion that it crossed into so bad it's good territory, and a few even loved it.

‘Madame Web’ Blu-ray Review
Image
Stars: Dakota Johnson, Sydney Sweeney, Isabela Merced, Celeste O’Connor, Tahar Rahim, Emma Roberts, Adam Scott, Zosia Mamet | Written by S.J. Clarkson, Matt Sazama, Burk Sharpless, Claire Parker | Directed by S.J. Clarkson

Directed by S.J. Clarkson (whose Marvel credentials include the Jessica Jones series), Madame Web is the fourth film in Sony’s Spider-Man universe, following Morbius and the two Venom movies. Essentially revamping a classic character from Amazing Spider-Man comics (where Madame Web has always been portrayed as an old woman), the film serves as a standalone adventure with significant connections to a certain wall-crawling web-spinner.

After a jungle-set prologue detailing the mysterious, spider-heavy circumstances of her birth in 1973, the film jumps forward 30 years to 2003 and centres on Cassie Web (Dakota Johnson), a single paramedic, whose platonic best friend is one Ben Parker (Adam Scott), who’s about to become -yes!- an uncle. After a nasty accident...

Madame Web Is Now Streaming On Netflix - Was The Movie Really That Bad?
Image
Madame Web always had a steep hill to climb after becoming meme-fodder immediately after the release of its first (and only) trailer, but right from the opening scene with Cassie's mother in the Amazon researching spiders just before she died, it was clear that Sony Pictures' latest Ssu movie was... probably not going to be a big hit.

To be fair, Madame Web did end up surpassing (just about) the $100 million mark worldwide, but with a reported budget of around $80 - $100 million, and an abysmal 11% on Rotten Tomatoes, we can't imagine seeing much more from Miss Web and her teenage Spider-Women pals anytime soon.

Some felt the movie wasn't quite as bad as it was made out to be, while others were of the opinion that it crossed into so bad it's good territory.

We didn't review Madame Web here on Cbm when it was released in theaters, but if you're interested,...

Review: Madame Web
Image
Sony has been struggling to find the secret formula to make their Spider-Verse movies satisfy audiences in the same way Marvel Studios has managed for the last decade-plus. Boiled down, it seems to come form a lack of coherent vision and weak scripts.

The critical despair and box office indifference to Madame Web is misplaced because it’s not the worst of the lot, but viewers are clearly tired of Sony misfires, which doesn’t bode well for the forthcoming Kraven.

The incredibly weak script from director Sj Clarkson, Matt Sazama, Burk Sharpless, and Claire Parke mars the potential found deep within the very disappointing Madame Web, out now from Sony Home Entertainment. The basic premise that four women are brought together as part of a woven tapestry of spider-powers is fine, as is importing Ezekiel (Tahar Rahim) from the Spider-Man comics to be the bad guy.

However, the script them all.

'Even They Couldn't Quite Explain It': Michael Keaton Reveals the Truth About His Morbius Cameo
Image
The post-credits scene in Morbius featuring Vulture left audiences and Michael Keaton puzzled about its purpose. Morbius' director originally planned a bigger role for Vulture, but scenes were eventually cut, leading to confusion. Morbius' attempts at connecting to the MCU have left fans scratching their heads over the movie's direction.

Among the many issues with Sony’s Spider-Man Universe, the post-credits scenes that brought Michael Keaton’s Vulture from the MCU into the alternate setting of Morbius is right up there with some of the biggest head scratchers. It seems that Keaton himself doesn’t actually know what his character’s real purpose was in the movie either.

10 Superhero Movie Stars That Criticized Their Own Movies
Image
Sydney Sweeney distanced herself from Madame Web, poking fun at its poor reception on SNL. Josh Brolin called Jonah Hex a "s****y movie," citing studio interference for its failure. George Clooney disowned Batman & Robin, refusing to let his wife watch it.

Stars of superhero movies in the MCU, the Dcu, and beyond have been known to occasionally air their dissatisfaction with their films publicly. Long before the movies of the MCU helped bring the superhero genre to the fore of society’s cinematic consciousness, movies based on various heroes from across pop culture were still made. The long and storied history of superhero movies has seen many live-action films adapted from the pages of DC and Marvel Comics. Unfortunately, the genre has always been plagued by inconsistent box office returns and critical reception.

On occasion, these negative reviews or perceived lack of quality becomes the consensus, even among...

Dakota Johnson Is Right About Superhero Movie Fatigue (And How To Fix It)
Image
Dakota Johnson highlighted how committee decisions can hurt superhero movies by diminishing creative input from artists. Risk-taking is important for superhero films, as seen with successful projects like Guardians of the Galaxy. Johnson's comments on creative control in movie production emphasize the need for studios to trust audiences and creators.

Reflecting on Madame Web, star Dakota Johnson gave a characteristically honest explanation of why she thinks Sony's latest Marvel movie didn't work and what's causing superhero fatigue - and she's right on both counts. Dakota Johnson has previously hinted at behind the scenes turmoil for Madame Web, having previously mentioned Madame Web's script underwent major changes. While this isn't always a red flag for a movie, those statements coupled with more recent revelations regarding the movie's production could indicate that these changes were part of the problem.

'I'm Not Surprised': Madame Web Star Reacts to Bad Reviews
Image
Dakota Johnson is reflecting on Madame Web coming up short and the bright side she sees with the unfortunate situation.

After its Valentine's Day release in theaters, Madame Web fell far short of its studio expectations. Along with bombing at the box office, it was also met with harsh reviews, garnering a Rotten Tomatoes score that was lower than Morbius. In a new interview with Bustle, star Dakota Johnson admitted that she wasn't surprised by the reaction. She clarified that the film fell victim to "committees" getting involved, suggesting this had a negative effect on the "art" created by the filmmakers.

Gods of Egypt Pitch Meeting
Image
Screen Rant's Pitch Meeting for Gods of Egypt hilariously points out plot issues and the excessive budget spent on the film. The movie's low critical reception could be credited as due to the writers' negative track record and the director's decline in critical success. Whitewashing casting choices and competition with other films contributed to Gods of Egypt's box office failure.

Screen Rant's Pitch Meeting series is going fantastically ancient as the latest episode explores Gods of Egypt. The 2016 action movie revolved around a young thief named Bek who partners with the Egyptian God of Air Horus to restore his powers and bring down the maniacal Set after he claims dominion over mankind in a brutal coup. Gerard Butler led the ensemble Gods of Egypt cast alongside Nikolaj Coster-Waldau, Brenton Thwaites, Élodie Young, Chadwick Boseman and Geoffrey Rush.

The Last Witch Hunter sequel: Vin Diesel is still looking forward to playing Kaulder again
Vin Diesel
If there’s one positive thing even the many people he’s had feuds with might say about Vin Diesel, it’s that when he latches onto a character or concept, he doesn’t let them go. He may have skipped the first sequel to The Fast and the Furious, but once he did return to the role of Dominic Toretto, he made sure the sequels kept reaching theatres at a fast and furious pace. Few movie-goers seem to care about the Richard B. Riddick character beyond Pitch Black, but that hasn’t stopped Diesel from continuing to push sequels forward – and apparently Riddick 4 isn’t far off from production. Then there’s his 2015 fantasy/action film The Last Witch Hunter, which didn’t gain a lot of fans (although JoBlo’s own Alex Maidy dug it). Diesel liked it, so we might just get a The Last Witch Hunter...

Vin Diesel Teases Sequel to The Last Witch Hunter Again
Image
In 2015, Vin Diesel starred in The Last Witch Hunter, and his latest post hints at a possible continuation.

On Thursday, Vin Diesel hopped on Instagram to share a "Throwback Tuesday" to one of the characters he's played along the way. Diesel is notorious for his Fast & Furious role, Dominic "Dom" Toretto, which he has reprised in almost all the franchise's films so far. He didn't return for the first film's sequel, 2 Fast 2 Furious, and only made a short cameo at the end of the third film, Fast & Furious: Tokyo Drift. However, the focus of his post was his 2015 film The Last Witch Hunter.

It's Disney+ Morbin' Time as Morbius Announces Streaming Platform Release Date
Image
Morbius joins the MCU on Disney+, hoping to recover from its theatrical flop with a new streaming audience. The film's messy connection to the MCU in post-credits scenes adds to its already convoluted plot. Despite its initial failure, Sony has other Spider-Man villains waiting to follow Madame Web into cinemas this year.

It's Morbin' time - Disney+ style. Yes, after its stint as part of the Netflix catalog, Disney's licensing deal with Sony means that, just like several other Marvel titles, such as Venom and Spider-Man: Homecoming, Morbius now has a streaming release date set for its Disney+ debut. The Jared Leto box office tragedy will get the chance to take a bite of the MCU cherry as it joins the ever-growing list of Marvel titles on the platform on March 1. Does this mean that Morbius will gain a whole new wave of praise? Let's not hold our breath for miracles.

This Madame Web Line Shows the Movie Doesn’t Understand Spider-Man at All
Image
This Madame Web article contains spoilers.

“With great power comes great responsibility” might be the most important line in superhero fiction. It crystalizes a theme present in the best superhero stories even before Spider-Man‘s debut in 1962’s Amazing Fantasy #15, Jerry Siegel and Joe Shuster’s Superman tales and Bill Parker, and C.C. Beck’s Captain Marvel adventures. The line transforms superhero stories from mere power fantasies to stories about service and care, about empowering others instead of consolidating power for yourself.

So when a member of Las Arañas, Madame Web‘s ill-advised magical natives, tells Cass Webb (Dakota Johnson), “When you take on the responsibility, great power will come,” it’s clear the production team has lost the plot.

Director S.J. Clarkson, who co-wrote the script with Matt Sazama, Burk Sharpless, Claire Parker, and certainly a boardroom of IP lawyers, intends the line to break Cass out of her...

Valid Reasons Fans Didn't Like Madame Web
Image
Madame Web is finally out, proving much to audiences' horror that Morbius is far from the worst superhero movie that Sony is capable of making. The latest entry in Sony's much-maligned cinematic universe of Spider-Man-adjacent characters, the new movie follows Dakota Johnson's Cassandra Web as she discovers her ability to see the future.

While some fans tend to be hard on recent superhero movies, Madame Web deserves most of the criticism that it has received thus far. From a truly horrendous script to plot points that make absolutely no sense, there are plenty of valid reasons that Marvel fans utterly reject Sony's latest attempt at building a franchise.

Madame Web has the lowest Rotten Tomatoes score of Sony's cinematic universe, with a Freshness Rating of only 13%. The highest score, by contrast, is Venom: Let There Be Carnage, which itself only...

Madame Web Breaks Another Unwanted Record, Earns Lowest Box Office in Sony Spider-Man Franchise
Image
Madame Web is now Sony's lowest-grossing Spider-Man movie, falling short of other franchise hits like Venom and even Morbius. Critics have not been kind, with the film currently sitting at a low 13% on Rotten Tomatoes. Despite the poor reception, there are hopes for a sequel with potential for further exploration of Madame Web's story and abilities.

Unfortunately, Madame Web continues to weave more bad press, as the Spider-Man spinoff is now the holder of lowest Rotten Tomatoes score, and worst opening in the Sony franchise. The comic book outing, which stars Dakota Johnson as a paramedic who develops clairvoyant abilities, failed to make in six days what the previously mauled Morbius made in its three-day opening. To date, Madame Web has brought in just 25.8 million in the United States and Canada (via Box Office Mojo).

To put that figure into context, Morbius made $39 million, Venom made $80.2 million,...

‘Madame Web’ Writer Gets Publicly Humiliated After His Last 5 Films Display a Similar Lack of Quality
Image
Sony Pictures’ recent release Madame Web is directed by S.J. Clarkson from a screenplay she co-wrote with Claire Parker and a writing team of Matt Sazama and Burk Sharpless. The movie stars Dakota Johnson, Sydney Sweeney, Celeste O’Connor, Isabela Merced, Tahar Rahim and more.

The movie is a suspense thriller that follows the story of Madame Web’s origin story in a standalone universe. Madame Web is a part of Sony’s Spider-Man Universe and opened up to negative reviews from the critics as well as the audience. Dedicated fans of Marvel Comics mentioned how the writers of the movie do not have a single successful movie under their kitty.

It seems that Madame Web has unwittingly become a smash hit, falling squarely into the category of “so bad it’s good.” In the past few months, the only thing the film has managed to get right is making tons of headlines be it all for the wrong reasons, but the film was anything but forgettable, at least in the news cycle. Now, folks are itching to know what all the fuss is about. Madame Web Director Reacts to Final Destination Comparisons
Image
Madame Web is reminding some horror fans of Final Destination, and director S. J. Clarkson has offered a response.

Based on the Marvel Comics character, Madame Web stars Dakota Johnson as a paramedic who starts showing signs of clairvoyance, having premonitions of events moments before they happen. It's similar to the main characters in each Final Destination movie, who always foresee a major disaster that allows them to barely escape certain doom. Final Destination 2, in particular, begins with a disastrous multi-car accident that's caused by a log truck, and Madame Web also happens to include a log truck in the film. When asked if that was an intentional Easter egg in a Collider interview, S. J. Clarkson revealed that it was just a coincidence.

Madame Web – What Did You Think?

Sony and Marvel Studios have been collaborating on the recent Spider-Man films that are connected to the wider Marvel Cinematic Universe – but on the side, Sony also has their “Spider-Man Universe” films, which are not connected to the MCU Spider-Man movies but are based on characters who were introduced in issues of Marvel’s Spider-Man comic books. Sony makes these movies without the input of Marvel Studios, and the latest entry in this franchise – following Venom, Venom: Let There Be Carnage, and Morbius – is Madame Web, which just reached theatres a couple days ago.
