Ozzie Stewart
Ozzie Stewart began with a career in Trinidad, studying ballet at age six before transitioning to musical theater under Nobel Laureate Derek Walcott, with she toured internationally for seven years, working with Galt MacDermott, James Earl Jones, Roscoe Lee Brown and others. She earned simultaneous dance scholarships at the esteemed Alvin Ailey, Joffrey Ballet, and Martha Graham schools and was on track to land a role in Bob Fosse's "All That Jazz" before leaving to care for a friend who was injured in a bus accident. After she closed her clothing showroom on 42nd Street and Broadway, becoming the first Black woman to own a successful clothing fashion industry showroom in the heart of Times Square, in 2003, Ozzie returned to acting, working on Off-Off Broadway productions and independent films and feature film "Pariah" by award-winning director Dee Rees. She has also appeared in commercials for brands such as Bayer, Lifetime TV, and Charles Schwab, on television series such as Chicago Med, Power III, Manifest, FBI Most Wanted and more. In 2019, Stewart started her YouTube series, which later became an audio podcast series in 2020, where she highlights the lives and careers of people who impacted her life. She became a best-selling author and award-winning actress in 2022 and returned to live podcast episodes in 2023, and launched her nonprofit organization, Beyond The Call 24 7, Inc which is a call-to-action to the podcast issues addressed, such as: abuse, addiction, human trafficking, homelessness, animal welfare, and climate change. Stewart is a single mother to her son, and grandmother and has resided in Manhattan, NY, for over 40 years.
