Why Every Carrie Romance Ended In Sex & The City
Image
Carrie Bradshaw may be a successful sex columnist on Sex and the City, but she’s highly unsuccessful in the love department, with every romance ending for various reasons. For six seasons, Carrie has loved, lost, and had random hookups in the beloved HBO series. Now that And Just Like That will be returning for a second season, there’s the potential for revisiting some of Carrie’s former flames.

And Just Like That cuts Carrie’s voiceovers that so famously chronicle her romantic relationships in Sex and the City. Carrie’s misadventures in love bring a questionable cast of characters. Some men are more forgettable than others, but every romance plays a role in Carrie’s romantic ending with her true love.

Blu-ray Review: ‘The Adventures of Tintin’ Looks Great But Feels Hollow
Chicago – Being a Steven Spielberg super-fan, I looked forward to being able to re-appreciate “The Adventures of Tintin” with a beautiful HD picture and, I hoped, some special features to enhance my opinion of a film that I found pretty seriously flawed in theaters. Well, the HD transfer is a beauty — the film looks just as good as its 3D theatrical presentation — but the film is still flawed and the special features are lackluster. In theaters, it was a near-miss and my opinion has not changed on Blu-ray.

Blu-ray Rating: 2.5/5.0

Excepting for a few stand-out action scenes that, admittedly, look fantastic in HD, I still find “Tintin” dull. It’s boring. I know that’s a very American opinion (the film has been a juggernaut internationally, where Herge’s comic is much more popular) but I guess this is just the soccer of cartoons — bigger overseas.

After a jazzy, fun...

Film Review: Spielberg’s Disappointing ‘The Adventures of Tintin’
Chicago – Being a huge Steven Spielberg fan and a pretty big aficionado of Peter Jackson (who produced) as well, I was pretty psyched to see what these two undeniable geniuses could do in the world of motion-capture animation with their collaboration on the adaptation of the hit Herge cartoon “The Adventures of Tintin.” That’s why it hurts me to say that, excepting a few stand-out action scenes, this is a shockingly dull affair, something that lulled me to sleep far more often than it inspired my imagination to life. Hardcore fans of the series may be satisfied and the film has been a juggernaut overseas where the source material is more popular (it’s made $239 million already worldwide), but I guess something is just lost in translation for this critic.

Rating: 2.5/5.0

As I mentioned, I really wanted to like “Tintin.” After a jaunty opening credits sequence scored to a jazzy composition by,...

Hi-Res Images From Spielberg’s ‘The Adventures of Tintin’
If anyone can turn a franchise largely unknown outside of Europe into a Stateside crowd-pleaser, it would Steven Spielberg. /Film brings us some beautiful high-resolution frames from the Peter Jackson-Spielberg motion-capture 3-D collaboration, The Adventures of Tintin: Secret of the Unicorn. We’ve already seen a few pics, and it looks like Spielberg and company have managed to largely avoid that freaky Uncanny Valley effect. (And I know some of you out there were kind of turned on by Zoe Saldana‘s Neytiri in Avatar… but, uh, no comment other than – go to a bar and talk to a girl.)

So here we go – Tintin (Jamie Bell) and Captain Haddock (Andy Serkis, thank God), stuck in a desert for reasons that will be probably be made clear once we have an actual trailer. (Although don’t hold your breath – on Saving Private Ryan, the DreamWorks marketing people had to...

New Photos from 'The Adventures of Tin-Tin'
The more I hear and see about The Adventures of Tin-Tin: The Secret of the Unicorn, the more and more I like it.  Since it's still a year away, you may not have heard much about it. It features the team of Steven Spielberg and Peter Jackson, who are both working hard on this one.

The images show Tintin (Jamie Bell) and Captain Haddock (Andy Serkis) is quite the panoramic desert picture, then Tintin and Barnaby (Joe Starr) in a film-noir shot, and finally Silk (Toby Jones) with the twins Thompson and Thompson (Simon Pegg and Nick Frost) in the background.

New Tintin Images Reveal Nick Frost And Simon Pegg's Characters
The British Empire magazine is debuting the first-ever images from Peter Jackson's The Adventures of Tintin: Secret of the Unicorn in their print edition, but only made a handful of the images available online. Now, thanks to the French site FilmsActu.com, we've got a look at scans from other images in the film, featuring the Thompson twins played by Simon Pegg and Nick Frost, the thief Silk played by Toby Jones, and Joe Starr's character Barnaby. There's also a nice shot of what appears to be Captain Haddock (Andy Serkis) and Tintin himself (Jamie Bell) in the desert, which gives a nice sense of the cartoony, mo-cap visuals of the film. Check out all three below and click to go to FilmsActu, where they have surprisingly high-res versions. I'm still a little skeptical about the film, both because the visuals seem a little off somehow and the...

Better "Tintin" Photos Emerge Online
After one great and two rather awkward first photos, FIlmsactu has posted scans of three more photos from "The Adventures of Tintin: The Secret of the Unicorn" and the verdict is definitely better, showing off a more stylised look to the characters and environments which make the 'uncanny valley' effect less disconcerting.

In the shots we see a first look at twin detectives Thomson and Thompson, the roles Simon Pegg and Nick Frost are set to play, as they question Silk (Toby Jones), a pickpocket with kleptomania who has been lifting wallets all over town. The second shows Barnaby (Joe Starr) delivering a warning to Tintin.

Most revealing though is the third shot of the bunch which looks like a direct panel recreation from "The Crab with the Golden Claws" with Tintin and Haddock stuck in the Sahara desert after a plane crash. This definitely confirms comments previously made by...

Levittown, New York — Comedian Greg Giraldo's passing, reportedly due to an accidental drug overdose, rocked the comedy circuit. While family and friends were shaken by the sudden death, they were allotted an outlet at the Governor's Comedy Club tribute and benefit show in Levittown, New York on Friday night.

The turnout was immense at the venue, where Giraldo was scheduled to appear, and the event raised over $3,000 in support for Geraldo's family. Club owner Marc Lund managed to organize the event on just two days notice, easily booking comedians from all across the state with tremendous support.

"We wanted to celebrate his life," said Lund. "A lot of comics use this as a release."

The show was opened and hosted by comic Joey Kola, followed by...
