‘Fixed’ Review: Genndy Tartakovsky’s Netflix Animated Feature Is a Hilariously Dirty Delight
Image
Not since Ralph Bakshi’s Fritz the Cat and its sequel have cartoon animals gotten so down and dirty as they do in the latest animated effort by director Genndy Tartakovsky. Depicting the travails of a dog facing the fate alluded to in the title, Fixed plays like a canine version of The 25th Hour, except that instead of going to prison the next day, the main character is about to be neutered.

Those who are easily offended may want to steer clear of this Netflix movie, co-scripted by Tartakovsky (Samurai Jack, Hotel Transylvania) with Jon Vitti (The Simpsons). But if, let’s say, South Park is a regular part of your animated diet, you’ll find plenty of amusement in this relentlessly raunchy and vulgar comedy.

A perfectly cast Adam DeVine plays the central role of Bull, who is clearly experiencing the male dog version of heat. He’s relentlessly horny,...

Netflix is pushing the boundaries of adult animation with Fixed, a R-rated comedy directed by five-time Emmy winner Genndy Tartakovsky. Arriving globally on August 13, Fixed tells the story of Bull, voiced by Adam Devine. The street-smart dog embarks on a wild all-nighter after learning he’s scheduled to be neutered the next day.

Produced by Sony Pictures, the movie had long been in creative limbo. Now, with Netflix taking over, it’s finally ready to bark up all the right trees. Packed with raunchy humor and Tartovsky’s signature 2D animation style, Fixed brings something fresh to the world of animated storytelling.

Fixed Trailer: Idris Elba Voices a Streetwise in Genndy Tartakovsky’s Raunchiest Dog Animation
Image
Netflix has just dropped a brand new look, a sneak peek trailer for Fixed, the upcoming adult animated comedy from Emmy-winning director Genndy Tartakovsky. The trailer gives a hilarious and unfiltered look at the group of dogs, led by Adam Devine’s Bull. Idris Elba voices Rocco, Bull’s tough but loyal friend.

In this trailer, the dogs are running at full speed, led by their humans, all heading urgently outside for their morning pee and poop ritual. What adds more laughs is their desperate and exaggerated words, “gotta go, gotta go” before they take care of their business.

Fixed premieres August 13, 2025, exclusively on Netflix, and boasts an all-star cast that includes Idris Elba, Adam Devine, and Kathryn Hahn. With vibrant 2D animation and a sharp adult edge, the movie marks Sony Pictures Animation’s first-ever R-rated feature.

New Just For Laughs Fest Owner Tells Ticket Buyers: Laugh or Get a Refund
Image
For a business that’s all about putting people in seats, new Just For Laughs owner Sylvain Parent-Bedard has made a ballsy money-back offer as a once-dominant stand-up comedy showcase for Hollywood returns from the dead.

If Montrealers aren’t bursting with laughter watching Jfl galas this weekend at the Place des Arts hosted by Roy Wood Jr., Fortune Feimster, Michelle Buteau and Saturday Night Live castmember Mikey Day, they’ll get their hard-earned dollars back.

“If they’re not happy, we’re going to reimburse them without argument,” Parent-Bedard, a Quebec comedy veteran who has done a pivot to English-language comedy by buying Jfl out of bankruptcy in 2024, tells The Hollywood Reporter.

He has big shoes to fill, after Jfl over the decades left belly-laughing Montrealers entertained by big names like Jerry Seinfeld, Jimmy Fallon, Lewis Black, Chris Rock, Robin Williams, Steve Martin, Larry the Cable Guy and others.

The longtime partnership between IMDb and IMDbPro for their annual Easterseals Disability Film Challenge acknowledges professionals from the disability community who have also worked closely with IMDb. ‘Fixed’ Trailer: Netflix Unveils Director’s Cut Taster For Genndy Tartakovsky’s R-Rated Comedy About A Randy Dog
Image
Dog lovers around the world may find it hard to look their male, canine friends in the eyes again after watching Genndy Tartakovsky’s upcoming adult animated movie Fixed.

The R-rated comedy follows the adventures of Bull an average, all-around good dog who discovers he’s going to be taken to the vet to be neutered in the morning by his owners, exasperated by his constant humping of grandma’s leg.

As the gravity of this life-altering event sets in, Bull realizes he needs one last adventure with his pack of best friends in the last 24 hours with his balls intact.

Netflix has released a red band director’s cut trailer for the movie – giving a taster of the whacky boundary-pushing animation ahead of its launch on the platform on August 13.

The movie world premiered to an enthusiastic crowd at the Annecy International Film Festival in June and also received...

'Pitch Perfect' Star Gets One More Night of Fun Before He's 'Fixed' in Netflix's Red Band Dog Comedy Trailer
Image
Adam Devine is about to lose his family jewels. With a month left until the release of Genndy Tartakovsky's raunchy animated dog comedy Fixed, Netflix released the official red band trailer introducing Bull, a generally good dog played by the Pitch Perfect star who enjoys life with his family. However, everything changes when he finds out he's about to be neutered, leaving the pooch one night to enjoy his balls before they're gone for good. Cue one final adventure for Bull and his pals to ensure he squeezes as much out of his nuts in the 24 hours they have left. Alas, from the looks of the trailer, their night on the town is about to get wild in ways the canine companions never fully anticipated.

The footage starts wholesome enough with the father of the house introducing the young, bright-eyed Bull fresh from the shelter. Two years later, and he's a lean,...

‘Fixed’ Trailer: Genndy Tartakovsky’s Animated Dog Story is Definitely Not For Kids
Image
For two decades, animation auteur Genndy Tartakovsky has been pushing the limits of kids’ animation, via beloved shows like “Dexter’s Laboratory” and “Samurai Jack.” In recent years, he’s largely abandoned the constraints of children’s media entirely, with his latest projects like the “Samurai Jack” reboot and “Primal” airing on Cartoon Network’s Adult Swim block and indulging in violence and gore befitting the grown ups who grew up watching and loving his old classics. His latest project, feature film “Fixed,” is mature in a completely different way, telling a dog story with wildly puerile and filthy sexual humor. And that’s on full display in the Director’s Cut trailer, which Netflix released this Thursday.

Directed by Tartakovsky and co-written by him and Jon Vitti (best known for his work on “The Simpsons”), “Fixed” focuses on 24 hours in the life of Bull (voiced by Adam DeVine), a good-natured...

Bert Kreischer to Topline Netflix Sitcom
Image
Bert Kreischer has made five stand-up specials for Netflix, and now he’s taking the time-honored path trod by many comedians: starring in a sitcom.

Kreischer will play the title role in and is a co-creator of Free Bert, a six-episode comedy the streamer has ordered. Jarrad Paul and Andrew Mogel (The Grinder, Huge in France) co-created the show with Kreischer and will serve as showrunners, writers and directors. The cast also includes Arden Myrin, Lilou Lang and Ava Ryan.

In Free Bert, Kreischer will play a version of himself — a “shirtless comedian, party legend, perpetual wildcard,” as the show’s logline puts it. He finds himself in unfamiliar territory when his daughters (Lang and Ryan) are accepted at an elite private school in Beverly Hills. When his antics turn the family into outcasts, he decides to put a shirt on and stifle his true self in order to fit in.

Bert Kreischer Comedy Series Ordered By Netflix; Arden Myrin & Ava Ryan Co-Star
Image
Netflix has been slowly evolving into what broadcast networks have stood for — offering a broad spectrum of entertainment for everyone. After adding procedurals to its portfolio of original offerings, the global streamer also has been taking a page from the broadcast comedy playbook by building series around stand-ups and their lives and material.

Following Shane Gillis’ Tires, Michelle Buteau’s Survival of the Thickest and Leanne Morgan’s upcoming Leanne, Netflix has greenlighted Free Bert, a six-episode scripted comedy series starring, co-created and executive produced by Bert Kreischer, who has done six stand-up specials for the streamer.

Fellow actor-comedian Arden Myrin (The Righteous Gemstones) also stars in the series along with newcomers Ava Ryan — who has a big social media footprint with 3.3M followers — and Lilou Lang. Free Bert is co-created and executive produced by Kreischer as well as Jarrad Paul and Andrew Mogel, who serve as writers,...

Lena Dunham Describes Her Netflix Series ‘Too Much’: “When a Loud, Messy Jewess Descends on a City of Deeply Repressed People”
Image
Audiences last week got a preview of what to expect from Lena Dunham’s upcoming small-screen return with the teaser trailer for her Too Much rom-com series, which starts streaming on Netflix July 10.

But guests at a recent Tribeca Festival panel with Dunham and moderator Michelle Buteau were treated to more of an advance look in the form of clips and a conversation about how the show came about and what to expect from the Megan Stalter and Will Sharpe-starrer.

The series’ official synopsis is: “Jessica (Stalter) is a New York workaholic in her mid-thirties, reeling from a broken relationship that she thought would last forever and slowly isolating everyone she knows. When every block in New York tells a story of her own bad behavior, the only solution is to take a job in London, where she plans to live a life of solitude like a Bronte sister.

‘Fixed’ Review: Very R-Rated Hot-To-Trot Dog Cartoon Tries Hard To Be Outrageous & Succeeds- Annecy Animation Festival
Image
In Fixed, premiering at the Annecy International Festival of Animation in France, Netflix has a nice feature film companion piece for its oh-so-adult animation shows like Big Mouth. This one about a pooch named Bull fetting over the imminent loss of his doggie testicles — or so he thinks — is in the vein of Seth Rogen’s very Seth Rogenish 2016 toon Sausage Party and going way back to the king of the genre Ralph Bakshi’s 1972 Fritz the Cat, which was sold with the ad line, “We’re not rated ‘X’ For nothin’, baby!”

That animated breakthrough announced loudly and proudly that cartoons are not always kids stuff, but quite frankly, compared to Fixed, it might as well have come from Disney.

Credit Sony Pictures Animation for this production, and I am not sure why they unloaded it to Netflix, but you can bet kids will have a lot more access...

Adam Sandler and Genndy Tartakovsky in Hotel Transylvania (2012)
Everything is coming up Genndy for oddball filmmaker Genndy Tartakovsky as favorable reviews and word of mouth about his latest animated feature, Fixed, continue to spread online. Adding to the praise for his R-rated “Lady and the Tramp meets Shaving Private Ryan” animated comedy, Tartakovsky is making headlines for his next project, Heist Safari, a high-octane animated action comedy telling the story of three frog brothers who rob a bank. According to the project’s logline, Heist Safari, “Seems simple enough, but the execution is special as !#&$??!!!!”

Heist Safari comes to Adult Swim one year after the concept was pitched on stage at Adult Swim President Michael Ouweleen at the Annecy International Animation Film Festival. Recently, while speaking at the Cartoon Network panel, Tartakovsky said, “It feels like when I was younger, I feel like that energy makes me still want to do new things,” regarding his restored desire to create off-the-wall animation.

Netflix still hasn't renewed these 2 shows (and I'm starting to get worried)
Image
Now that it's the summertime and the new fall television season nears, it's crunch time for TV fans. Most, if not all, broadcast shows have already had their fates determined, as have a vast majority of recent streaming series releases. Obviously, streamers don't adhere to the traditional fall to spring television season cycle, allowing renewal and cancellation news to arrive at any moment.

However, there are two particular Netflix original drama series that are still awaiting word on their futures. During Netflix's Upfronts presentation in May 2025, the streamer announced that eight shows had been renewed for additional seasons, including the likes of Bridgerton, The Diplomat, My Life with the Walter Boys, The Four Seasons, and new teen drama Forever.

Ransom Canyon and Pulse still not renewed for season 2

Not featured on that list of renewals was medical drama series Pulse (released on April 3) and modern Western romantic drama Ransom Canyon...

'Primal' Creator Teases Season 3 Is "A New Level," But May Unfortunately Arrive Later Than Expected [Exclusive]
Image
When we last heard from decorated creator Genndy Tartakovsky in October, he and his team had passed the halfway mark on animating Season 3 of Primal with two episodes fully completed and ready for television. The anachronistic Emmy-winner set during prehistoric times has been off the air for nearly three years as the Samurai Jack helmer has looked to continue from the bittersweet finale that brought Spear (Aaron Laplante) and Fang's story to an end. However, nearly halfway into the year, there hasn't been a word about a potential release date beyond his previous assurance that a premiere this year wasn't out of the realm of possibility. In an exclusive interview with Collider's Steve Weintraub at the Annecy International Animation Film Festival, he offered a new update on how the season is shaping up and when fans can expect to learn more.

How ‘Survival of the Thickest,’ ‘Mo’ and ‘Shrinking’ Are Helping Destigmatize Therapy for Men of Color
Image
When The Sopranos debuted in 1999, the series moved the cultural needle in innumerable ways — not least with its depiction of a hypermasculine man in a therapist’s office.

Over six seasons, the series featured eponymous mobster Tony Soprano’s regular visits with Dr. Jennifer Melfi — a subplot so socially impactful that actress Lorraine Bracco was once honored by the American Psychoanalytical Association.

In the decades since the HBO series challenged white men’s historical aversion to the therapist’s couch, men of color have remained largely absent from that needle-shift. Shows like Atlanta and This Is Us are among the few hits in the past quarter century in which a man of color visited a therapist.

But at least three series this season — Netflix’s Survival of the Thickest and Mo, and Apple TV+’s Shrinking — have devoted significant time to unpacking men of color’s complicated history with psychotherapy.
