Exclusive: Nashville comedy curator 800 Pound Gorilla has inked a deal to become the official audio and video distributor for the YouTube specials of Nateland Entertainment, the rising media company of top comic Nate Bargatze.
Separately, 800Pg has announced the launch of a new Film & TV division.
The Nateland partnership will bring more clean comedians to the 800Pg network, along with exclusive second window video distribution of comedy specials from Aaron Weber, Nick Thune, and Greg Warren, among others, bringing additional visibility to material that’s to this point been released only on the YouTube channel of Bargatze’s Nateland. The deal is in the same vein as those 800Pg has struck with comedian-driven companies like Kevin Hart’s Laugh Out Loud Network and Bill Burr and Al Madrigal’s All Things Comedy.

If you’re like me, you spend a lot of August yelling “Summer is over!” to your nearest and dearest — and they don’t take kindly to that. Summer TV is in its twilight, while fall premieres loom on the horizon after the Emmy Awards on September 15.
But summer is not over, and there’s plenty of new titles to stream in the Disney bundle. Disney+ will premiere new Star Wars and “Winnie the Pooh” titles for kids, as well as the original series “Are You Sure?!” following BTS’s Jimin and Jung Kook. Hulu will become home to “Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes,” “The Woman King,” “Smile,” and more movie titles, as well as the home for FX series — this month: “The New York Times Presents: Lie to Fly: Documentary Premiere.” Hulu originals “Solar Opposites” returns on August 12, and “Reasonable Doubt” for its second season starting August...

On any given night in St. Louis, there are dozens chances to treat your ears to some phenomenal musicianship. The St. Louis music scene is, and always has been, very diverse. Whether it’s blues in the Soulard neighborhood, cool vocal stylings at a hip suburban bistro, or the joyful jamming of a Grateful Dead tribute band in the Loop, the live music scene in St. Louis has rocked visitors, and locals every single night. Until Covid. When the pandemic hit, live music was one of the first things to be affected and will be one of the last to come back. If you miss going to concerts, imagine how the musicians, sound & lighting techs, stagehands, bartenders and everyone else involved in the presentation of live music must feel.

The VOD market has found itself becoming an increasingly important component of the movie business in recent months as the Coronavirus pandemic wreaked havoc on both the shooting and release schedules of virtually every major project that was in some stage of production. The studios have taken to releasing their theatrical efforts on home video a lot sooner than they would have originally anticipated, while plenty of titles have skipped theaters entirely and been sent straight to digital as a cost-cutting measure.
Up until the advent and unstoppable rise of streaming services, a movie being released straight to video was often seen as a mark of poor quality, but these days, there are some pretty big stars and filmmakers seeing their work bypass cinemas altogether, and this week is no different, with several projects featuring high-profile names making their way to VOD.

I haven't been feeling well today, which meant I spent most of the morning and afternoon having the kind of strange dreams that I remember for about five minutes and then forget completely except for random bits that end up in conversation somehow and make me look crazy. I don't remember my normal dreams at all, generally, but sick dreams/fever dreams stick with me for long periods of time making me concerned about my mental state. I'll keep myself from mentioning details, but one seemed to center around a parking garage. Here's your Wednesday night TV:
8:00pm: "American Idol" on Fox
"America's Next Top Model" on The CW. 16th season premiere.
"The Middle" on ABC
"Minute to Win It" on NBC
"Nova: Sciencenow" on PBS
"Survivor" on CBS
8:30pm: "Better With You" on ABC
"Throwdown with Bobby Flay" on Food Network
9:00pm: "Criminal Minds" on CBS
"Ghost Hunters" on SyFy.
