The underrated revenge thriller film Landmine Goes Click offers a challenging viewing experience, and its ending actually deconstructed its own genre. Released independently in 2015, the film follows three American tourists in the country of Georgia who find their picturesque getaway interrupted when one of them steps on a landmine. Shifting gears almost constantly, Landmine Goes Click quickly elevated itself above its original high-concept horror idea, and incorporated the revenge genre for even more effective scares. More importantly than all that, Landmine Goes Click explored deeper themes which allowed the movie to deconstruct the popular horror subgenre and analyze it through a modern lens.

Are you ready? Zoey 102, the long-awaited aptly titled sequel film to Zoey 101 released on Paramount+ on July 27.

Hailing from one-time Nickelodeon hitmaker Dan Schneider, the original series ran for four seasons from 2005 to 2008. The eponymous Zoey, played by Jamie Lynn Spears, was part of the first class of girls admitted to the all-boys Pacific Coast Academy. The cast periodically reunited in recent years, but this new movie marks the first true reunion special since the series went off the air.

15 years later, is Zoey 102 a worthy follow-up to Zoey 101? Or is it a shameless cash grab banking on the audience's nostalgia? Let's take a look and see if it was worth the wait.

While getting ready to reprise her role as her breakout character in the Zoey 101 movie, Jamie Lynn Spears looks back on her failed audition for a popular movie franchise.

Britney Spears' sister made her small screen debut on the popular Nickelodeon teen series in 2005, and went on to play the charismatic Zoey Brooks for four seasons, and she’s coming back in Zoey 102, a prequel movie. Nowadays, the actress is part of the cast of Netflix’s Sweet Magnolias, her first big project since Zoey 101.

However, the actress's career could have been very different had she landed another big role. In an interview with Variety, Jamie Lynn revealed that she auditioned for Twilight, the film adaptation of Stephanie Meyer's books:

Zoey 101 fans are in for a treat this July. The reunion movie, titled Zoey 102, has a release date on Paramount+. The streaming service announced the date of the film with the release of a trailer and key art.

The original series follows teen Zoey (Jamie Lynn Spears) after she starts attending a boarding school that previously only admitted boys. Zoey 101 aired for four seasons between 2005 and 2008 on Nickelodeon.

Are you ready? The official trailer for Paramount+’s Zoey 102 is here, and the gang’s (mostly) back together again.

The first look at the film sees Pacific Coast Academy alumni Zoey (Jamie Lynn Spears), Quinn (Erin Sanders), Logan (Matthew Underwood), Chase (Sean Flynn), Michael (Christopher Massey) and Stacey (Abby Wilde) reunite for Quinn and Logan’s wedding.

The trailer opens with a look at Zoey 15 years after Zoey 101 ended. She’s now 30, single and eager to know why everyone her age is obsessed with marriage, only to find out her best friend, Quinn, is set to be wed.

“Chase is gonna be there. It’ll be fine,” Quinn tells Zoey. “It’ll be the reunion we all need.” It’s a response that makes Zoey want to get another drink, hinting that the former high school couple may not be on the best of terms anymore after ending the Nickelodeon series together.

Paramount+ has scored with franchise revivals of iCarly and The Rugrats, and now, the streaming service is trying its hand at revisiting the Zoey 101 franchise.

On Tuesday, the trailer and key art for the all-new original movie based on characters from the hit live-action Nickelodeon series Zoey 101 went public.

In the movie, Pacific Coast Academy alumni return to Malibu for an over-the-top wedding that turns into a high school reunion for the books.

Zoey 102 will be available to stream beginning Thursday, July 27, in the U.S. and Canada and the following day in the U.K.

Jamie Lynn Spears returns to the role of Zoey Brooks in a new image from Paramount+'s revival movie Zoey 102. The original teen series Zoey 101 aired from 2005 to 2008 across 4 seasons, following Spears' character as she joined the prestigious Pacific Coast Academy, exploring her time at the boarding school. Much like fellow Paramount+ continuation iCarly, the upcoming film will pick up on Zoey and her friends' lives following their final appearances in the season 4 finale.

Our first look at Zoey 102, the feature film that serves as a follow-up to the TV series Zoey 101, has been unveiled. In development for a streaming release on Paramount+, the movie brings back Jamie Lynn Spears as Zoey Brooks, reuniting with he friends from the original show many years later. They come back together for a wedding that also serves as a high school reunion, revealing what Zoey and pals are up to these days following the end of the series in 2008. Levan Bakhia doesn’t have a lot of credits to his name, and his only other directed movie so far is the sauna-set thriller 247°F. Yet before taking his indefinite leave of absence from filmmaking, Bakhia left the world a disturbing parting gift. His 2015 movie is strictly for fans of disobedient storytelling. Set and filmed in the Georgian director’s homeland, Landmine Goes Click combines a high-concept plot with the brutality of vintage Grindhouse and exploitation movies.

While the country of Georgia has made a conscious effort to clear landmines left over from wartime, there is always going to be the chance that one was overlooked. And unfortunately for the three characters in Landmine Goes Click, they found it. Newly engaged couple Daniel and Alicia and their best friend Chris (Sterling Knight) are backpacking somewhere out in the Georgian countryside, near the mountains and several hours away from the closest town.

Generally speaking, I’m a fan of the ‘protagonist(s) are trapped in a single location’ sub-genre of the thriller. I have previously enjoyed a lot of them, such as 127 Hours, Fermat’s Room, Exam, Phone Booth, Buried, Cube; even trashier fare like Devil (which, as @MatBarnett correctly points out, should really have been called ‘Hellevator‘) has entertained me. Landmine Goes Click certainly did not.

The reason all of the above films work, at least on some level, is because when constraints are imposed on a narrative, it’s not just the protagonists that have to think creatively. Filmmakers are forced to try different ways of telling their stories both in a practical sense (how are we going to shoot this and keep it interesting?...

Exclusive: The Sand and Aaaaaaaah! among first FrightFest Presents acquisitions.

UK distributor Icon Film Distribution and UK horror festival FrightFest have set the first films to be released under their FrightFest Presents banner.

An initial seven genre films have been selected by the distributor and festival for the new online label, with others to be added soon.

The films will premiere at FrightFest, which gets underway in London on Thursday (Aug 27), before unspooling online between October and February 2016.

Digital partners will include iTunes, Virgin Movies, Sky, Google Amazon, Xbox , Blinkbox, Google, Wuaki, TalkTalk and Volta.

First titles

Among the first batch of titles is Sightseers actor-writer Steve Oram’s surreal ‘monkey comedy’ Aaaaaaaah!, which Icon will release online this October.

Can you say Blood Beach?

Ok so maybe that’s not fair. After all Jeffrey Bloom’s 1980 fear-flick, despite having a similar premise – something eating people on the beach, dragging them under the sand – is world’s apart from the gory body-horror of Isaac Gabaeff’s film. Whereas that film often played for oddball humour both intentionally and unintentionally, The Sand plays things very straight.

“Everyone wants to talk about how he died … but who cares? One moment in his whole life; I care more about how he lived.” Those words, spoken by Kurt (Chris Colfer) on the Oct. 10 episode of Glee, perfectly reflected how the characters spent the emotional hour-long tribute to Finn (Cory Monteith). It was a celebration of his life — his accomplishments, his performances, and the countless way he improved the lives of those around him — and now, HollywoodLife.com is doing some reflecting of our own.

We’ve put together our 10 favorite Finn moments on Glee, from the moment we first met him on the pilot in 2009 to the last time we saw him in 2013. (And yes, we know this list doesn’t include any of his classic performances. This is a list of non-musical moments.

5 Highlights From This Week’s Episode Of ‘Glee’:

1. Finn (Cory Monteith) enrolls himself at the University of Lima, where he’s studying to become a teacher. With Puck (Mark Salling) as his roommate, the boys party in their dorm, and slip-n-slide in the hallway. Plus, their singing chops get them automatically inducted into the biggest fraternity on campus. No need for hazing — pass go and collect $200! After Finn misses another test, Puck (of all people) has a talk with his best friend and tells him that he’s going to do everything he can to ensure that Finn works hard and fulfills his dream of becoming a teaching.

Since this week's "Glee" episode is "Guilty Pleasures," I feel that I should begin by admitting a guilty pleasure of my own: I liked this episode. I mean, I really liked it a lot. So if you were planning to read this with the intent of mocking "Glee" (something that usually would be fair), you may be disappointed.

Sorry. This was just too fun to hate. Way to live your theme, "Glee"!

After last week’s emotional episode (“Feud”) of Glee, it was refreshing to get a rather campy episode on March 21, where we got a taste of everyone’s “Guilty Pleasures.”

Blaine (Darren Criss) catches Sam (Chord Overstreet) stealing macaroni from the cafeteria and assumes he’s hard up for money. As Blaine tries to slip him fifty bucks, Sam confesses that he’s not poor, but likes to make macaroni portraits! He’s done Emma Stone, LeAnn Rimes, Ralph Macchio and even Kurt (Chris Colfer).

After Sam’s admission, he and Blaine get the idea to have New Directions cover songs that are guilty pleasures. Mr. Schue (Matthew Morrison) is out with “the flu,” so Blam is leading the group this week.

This week's "Glee" is delving into an area of music with which it should be very familiar: "Guilty Pleasures." What do the kids listen to when no one's around? This collection of songs from the episode should give some clue.

The first guilty-pleasure song certainly deserves the title -- "Wake Me Up Before You Go-Go" by Wham!, sung by Blaine (Darren Criss) and Sam (Chord Overstrett)

Whatever your musical taste, Sam hit the musical nail right on the head. It's really impossible to consider Barry Manilow's "Copacabana" as anything other than a guilty pleasure. (Full disclosure: It's my go-to karaoke song. Fuller disclosure: I'm terrible at karaoke.)

While "Feud" is a perfectly decent episode of "Glee," the episode also demonstrates everything problematic about the show as a whole. Every one of the many, many stories woven together in a complicated, lumpy tapestry made up of both a reasonable plot and sheer insanity.

High-class gigolos and the actual class of Santana

Life is complicated in New York City. It also makes sense only intermittently. Essentially, sense and logic are embodied by one person: Santana (Naya Rivera). Everyone and everything else is nutty.

First of all, we have the pregnancy false alarm. Rachel (Lea Michele) was going to have to face the consequence of her actions -- and those consequences could have been disastrous. Now... Not so much. She's just got boy problems. Again.

Santana calls it perfectly: "Rachel, you can't just blow past this like nothing ever happened."

Substitute "Rachel" with "Glee," and you have my biggest complaint...

But then that wouldn’t be fun, would it?
