Jack Rooke’s sweet, award-winning sitcom Big Boys is returning for a third series, and here’s the trailer for it.
Big Boys, Jack Rooke’s autobiographical sitcom about his experience at university, has been one of the comedic treats of the last few years.
Derry Girls star Dylan Llewellyn and Jon Pointing play two disparate young men, Jack and Danny, who find themselves as roommates in their first year of University. The former is closeted and sensitive, the latter is full of boorish bonhomie, but despite their differences they form a touching, tender bond, and Rooke’s writing covers everything from Jack exploring his sexuality to Danny’s mental health.
The show received critical acclaim for Rooke’s refusal to adhere to the usual masculine stereotypes seen on TV and for highlighting mental health struggles.
It proved to be a hit for Channel 4, who quickly ordered a second series,...

According to an insider, a movie adaptation of hit BBC sitcom Ghosts could be going before the cameras this year.
One of the BBC’s most successful children’s shows of recent years is Horrible Histories, which presented sketches about historical events in a superbly silly fashion. The writers and performers soon took the show to the big screen in the wonderful Bill, which tells the fictionalised story of Shakespeare – it’s one of the most delightful family films of the last decade and a bit, and is available to watch via Amazon Prime.
The crew then went on to create Yonderland, a surreal sitcom about a magical kingdom hidden in a woman’s kitchen cupboard.
However, Ghosts is the show that has arguably made the most impact. Starring Charlotte Ritchie and Kiell Smith-Bynoe as a couple who inherit a huge mansion, Ritchie soon discovers that she, and only she,...

Spoiler Alert for Ghosts season 4
Ghosts season 4 added another character inspired by Ghosts (UK), but they completely changed her personality. Plenty of ghosts in the U.S. series draw inspiration from their UK counterparts. However, some connections are more apparent than others. For instance, Pete (Richie Moriarty) from CBS Ghosts is strikingly similar to Pat (Jim Howick) from Ghosts for the BBC. Both spirits died after a member of their scout troop shot them in the neck with an arrow, and they both have wives named Carol, who cheated on them with their best friend. Still, not all ghost counterparts have as much in common.
Some characters from the U.S. Ghosts series only resemble the qualities of their UK counterparts. The oldest ghosts in both Ghosts U.S. and Ghosts UK, Thor (Devan Chandler Long) and Robin (Laurence Rickard), can control electricity since they died of a lightning strike.

Warning: contains spoilers for the Ghosts 2023 Festive Special “A Christmas Gift”
Once upon a time, BBC sitcom Ghosts wanted to scare you. The original thinking for the show according to co-creator Jim Howick, was to make a horror-comedy. Early episodes paid homage to moments in spooky film classics such as the medicine cabinet jump scare in An American Werewolf in London. At the start, the writers indulged themselves with horror tropes, says Howick, the actor behind 1980s Adventure Group leader Pat. “But we realised that as soon as you got to know the ghosts, there was nothing really frightening about them at all. Once you get familiar with the characters, the horror sort of drains away.”

Jack Rooke’s sitcom Big Boys returns to Channel 4 in January, and the details of the new run have landed.
Big Boys, Jack Rooke’s autobiographical sitcom about his experience at university, was one of the comedic treats of last year.
Derry Girls’ Dylan Llewellyn and Jon Pointing play two disparate young men, Jack and Danny, who find themselves as roommates in their first year of University. The former is closeted and sensitive, the latter is full of boorish bonhomie, but despite their differences they form a touching, tender bond, and Rooke’s writing covers everything from Jack exploring his sexuality to Danny’s mental health.
It proved a hit for Channel 4, which didn’t waste an awful lot of time in ordering up more episodes. Those episodes are nearly with us, too.
What’s more, we now have a synopsis for series two, which reads as follows:

CBS is giving Ghosts fans a double dose of spirits this fall, and TVLine has an exclusive promo celebrating “the spectral relationship” between the American and British shows.
Beginning Nov. 16, the Eye network will air repeats of Ghosts at 8:30/7:30c, followed by two back-to-back episodes (at 9 pm) of the original BBC One comedy on which the Stateside iteration is based. Warning: This article contains spoilers for series five of Ghosts
Somehow, the final series of Ghosts has neatly tied up all the show’s loose ends while still leaving us wanting more – which is a jolly good thing considering they’ve confirmed we’re getting one more Christmas special in December 2023.
They really packed a lot into those last six episodes, revealing the heartbreaking truth behind the deaths of Kitty and the Captain, showing Alison and Mike’s next step in life, and giving the whole gang the opportunity to say all the lovely, touching things fans wanted to hear (as well as adding a poignant reference to Mary in the opening credits).
Taking the characters on these final journeys involved lots of flashbacks and new faces, so let’s recap all the most important guest stars from series five:

Warning: contains spoilers for Ghosts series 4 (but none for series 5)
For Ghosts’ first four series – or for 400 years in the world of the show – Button House was home to Mary. Played by Katy Wix, Mary was a 16th century peasant woman who’d been killed in a witch trial and would give off a smell of burning to any “livings” who passed through her (“Tis a most noxious stinks”).
A devotee of watching both Loose Women and Button House resident Mike in the bathroom, Mary’s superstitions, nonsensical grammar, wobbly voice and basket-weaving expertise made her a fan-favourite. And then in the opening minutes of 2022 episode ‘Gone Gone’, Mary ascended up to the mysterious next phase of the afterlife – or to use the official Ghosts parlance, she was sucked off.
A touching episode followed in which Mary’s fellow ghosts dealt with their grief, and two instalments later, the series wrapped up.

A young married couple inherit a mansion that turns out to be populated with lively spooks. Sound familiar? Of course, but before CBS’s hit sitcom Ghosts came, the 2019 U.K. version, which CBS will air back-to-back with the U.S. comedy reruns. Beyond the couple (played by Charlotte Ritchie and Kiell Smith-Bynoe), let’s meet the “new” ghosts. Mary (Katy Wix) The kind 17th century peasant was burned at the stake during witch trials (hence the ash on her face). Whenever she passes through humans, they smell burning. Kitty (Lolly Adefope) This forever-positive Georgian Black woman seeks pals to counter a painful upbringing by an adoptive white family. Cause of death yet to be revealed. Patrick “Pat” Butcher (Jim Howick) The sweet Adventure Club leader was killed in 1984 by an arrow through his neck, like his U.S. counterpart, Pete (Richie Moriarty). Mathew Baynton guest stars on CBS’s...

Warning: This article contains spoilers for the BBC sitcom Ghosts
One of the best things about BBC sitcom Ghosts is the way the cast welcomes viewers into its heartwarming friendship circle, and makes us feel like one of the gang. They might be one of the tightest ensembles in the business, but there’s a definite generosity of spirit (pun intended) in Ghosts, and a “the more the merrier” vibe.
Perhaps this is why there’ve been so many memorable guest stars. The show easily attracts superstar-level names as well as giving a well-earned platform to some of the UK’s rising comedy stars. While we eagerly await Ghosts fifth – and sadly final – series, let’s remind ourselves of some of the show’s best guest appearances:
Jennifer Saunders

Why do we find murder mysteries so uniquely relaxing? This is one of the age-old questions about human nature, up there with ‘what is consciousness?’ and ‘why do we keep eating mouldy cheese and fish eggs like it’s a good thing?’ Because, despite the grief and blood and mountains of paperwork that a gruesome murder causes, we simply can’t get enough of curling up on the sofa with a mug of tea and a cosy crime drama to keep us blissfully entertained all the way through to bedtime.
This isn’t a new thing, either: while modern series like Death in Paradise and Shakespeare and Hathaway are the current champions of cosy crime TV, back in the eighties and nineties classics like Murder She Wrote and Hetty Wainthropp Investigates taught us how it’s done. So whether you’re after the latest in the cosy crime genre or some more nostalgic viewing,...

Taylor Sheridan’s Yellowstone is saddling up for its broadcast debut after joining CBS‘ fall schedule. The upcoming slate features a handful of notable series and reality-based programs, including Seal Team and BBC’s Ghosts. The reworked plan is a product of the ongoing strike, which finds writers and actors picketing in front of major studios worldwide.
Concerning how CBS roped Yellowstone onto its schedule, whispers indicate the arrangement could have come from MTV Studios, which produces with 101 Studios. The first season of Yellowstone airs on Sundays, replacing The Equalizer at 9 p.m. The reworked schedule also hosts Seal Team, the hit military drama starring David Boreanaz. Seal Team slips into the Thursday 10 p.m. slot, a spot initially reserved for the new series Elsbeth, a spinoff of The Good Wife/The Good Fight. The Paramount+ docuseries FBI True also comes to the lineup alongside repeat episodes of FBI.

Yellowstone is set to make its broadcast debut as part of CBS’ fall schedule, which now includes a slew of reality series as well as a number of Paramount+ series such as Seal Team and the original UK incarnation of Ghosts.
The launch of Taylor Sheridan’s Kevin Costner-fronted drama, which is coming to an end with its fifth season, as revealed by Deadline, on Paramount Network, is the headline of CBS’ reworked schedule, which has been impacted by both the writers strike and, now, actors strike.
It’s not entirely clear how CBS managed to find a way for the Montana-set series, which streams on Peacock, to air on its network, but insiders said that given it comes from sister company MTV Entertainment Studios, which produces with 101 Studios, it was able to be worked out.

Back in 2015, during a BBC Breakfast interview about series seven of Not Going Out, presenter Bill Turnbull asked Lee Mack: “Did you ever imagine when you first got that pilot that you’d get seven series?”
“I didn’t think we’d even get a series,” Mack answers incredulously, explaining that even going from script to a pilot episode felt like “the biggest hurdle”.
And yet, eight years later (17 since the show began in 2006), Not Going Out has now almost doubled its series from seven to 13, still regularly pulling in audiences of over four million, with the newest series arriving on BBC One on Friday 23rd June at 9pm. As ever, the show will focus on Lee Mack as a fictionalised version of himself, alongside his landlady-turned-wife and sparring partner Lucy, and their eventful and often farcical life together.

Looking back at Season 1 of Apple’s hit comedy series Ted Lasso, Keeley Jones (Juno Temple) is figuring out the kind of woman she wants to be, and what man could offer her the love and support she needs—all while Roy Kent (Brett Goldstein) and Jamie Tartt (Phil Dunster) compete for her attention and affection.
But across three seasons, Keeley really came into her own as she discovered the value and love she sought out from others resided within herself. She was complete all on her own but it sure was lovely to share it all with friends like Rebecca Welton (Hannah Waddingham) and even Roy and Jamie, who slowly warmed to one and now are in a full fledge bromance.
Temple breaks down Keeley’s journey across three seasons, picks between Roy and Jamie as her character’s true love and whether or not she’d be into a female football spinoff.

This post contains spoilers for the series finale of "Ted Lasso."
In the weeks leading up to the "Ted Lasso" finale, fans have been tracking down clues about the show's future (or lack thereof) like Trent Crimm chasing a story lead. Originally conceived as a three-season show, news of the series' imminent end was tempered by statements from its co-creators, hinting that the world of "Ted Lasso" might not be done yet. Even today, hours before the episode arrived, viewers were noting the use of the term "season finale" in the show's episode description. Could Ted and co. be back for more?
Now that we've seen "So Long, Farewell," it seems clear that the finale was as conclusive as its title would indicate -- for some characters. The episode ends with several characters in blissful, happy ending states: Ted (Jason Sudeikis) is back home in the United States, Rebecca (Hannah Waddingham) has found love,...

[This story contains spoilers for “International Break,” the 10th episode of Ted Lasso season three.]
Ted Lasso’s title character is mostly off screen in this episode, which scattered several AFC Richmond players as they suited up for their national teams and left those at home with less to do at Nelson Road than a normal week during the club season. The show has pulled focus away from Ted and the club successfully in the past, but “International Break” felt somewhat disjointed.
Rebecca (Hannah Waddingham) getting a new measure of closure with Rupert played well, and the seemingly inevitable reunion between Roy (Brett Goldstein) and Keeley (Juno Temple) had its moments too. Nate’s (Nick Mohammed) story, on the other hand, still feels like it’s missing beats, while Sam (Toheeb Jimoh) is forced to take another setback.

It was the big question. When the Junior Taskmaster spin-off was announced back in March with new hosts welcoming the nation’s children to complete a series of absurd and pointless challenges, who would be sitting in the golden thrones? A new Taskmaster was required, along with a new Taskmaster’s assistant. One had to be masterful and imperious, the other detail-oriented and servile, and crucially, they both had to be good with kids.
The answer: series nine and 11 contestants Rose Matafeo and Mike Wozniak! Matafeo will be taking the Junior Taskmaster role scoring the young contestants’ efforts, with Wozniak providing admin-based support in the studio and on-site child wrangling during tasks as the Junior Taskmaster’s Assistant.
Matafeo came second in her series of Taskmaster, in which she competed against winner Ed Gamble (now the host of the show’s official podcast), and fellow not-winners David Baddiel, Katy Wix and Jo Brand.

This article contains spoilers for "Ted Lasso" season 3.
Say what you will about season 2 of "Ted Lasso," but it was nice to have the whole cast and crew together in one place. For the most part, the characters were all a part of AFC Richmond; even if they didn't get along all the time, they still had to be in the same general area together. Ted (Jason Sudeikis) was forced to regularly interact with new team therapist Sharon (Sarah Niles), which led to him slowly but surely overcoming his prejudice against therapists and learning to open up to her. Jamie (Phil Dunster) was forced into the same locker room as the team he'd gotten regulated in the previous season's finale, leading to him learning to let go of his ego and become a real team player.
Season 2 also had Nate (Nick Mohammed) constantly interacting with the rest of the cast,...

[This story contains spoilers for season three, episode two of Ted Lasso.]
The second episode of Ted Lasso’s third season puts the title character on the sidelines for much of its running time, focusing instead on Rebecca (Hannah Waddingham), Roy (Brett Goldstein) and a couple new additions to the AFC Richmond locker room.
One of those newcomers is someone the show has previously introduced: Trent Crimm (James Lance), no longer of The Independent. Trent pitches writing a book about Richmond’s return to the Premier League for the season, which Ted agrees to over the strenuously mimed objections of Rebecca, Higgins (Jeremy Swift) and Keeley (Juno Temple).
Most of “(I Don’t Want to Go to) Chelsea” — taking its title from the Elvis Costello and the Attractions song — takes place, however, not at Richmond’s home base but at Stamford Bridge, the home of top-flight club (in the Lasso-verse, if not the current real-life Premier League table) Chelsea. Richmond, sporting a new,...
