Marc-André Casavant is an explorer of artistic and emotional territories. Fascinated by the unusual and the visual arts, he loves to step out of his comfort zone. A graduate of the LaSalle Conservatory of Performing Arts, he continued his training by participating in theatrical workshops, both in Montreal and abroad. Under the non-binary theme of Discosalope, he performed his subversive solo character of "Fontaine" in Montreal, New York, Brooklyn and Berlin. His work draws its inspiration from an aesthetic of cinematic peculiarity. It offers an extravagant universe that sometimes invites science fiction, fantasy, surrealism and dream sequences.
Marc-André unveiled his performances "Pourquoi pas ?!" and "Privé" at the Fonderie Darling Gallery in Montreal in the past years. At the frontiers of reality, his creation "Fragments", presented as part of the Home Theater Festival, remains an important work in his creative journey.
On television, we remember him for his roles in "District 31, "19-2", "Patrice Lemieux 24/7" and "Tout sur moi". The films "Au gré du vent" and "Destination", in which he plays a leading role, have gained international recognition.
In 2017, he directed and produced the play "L'eau des nuages", adapted from the eponymous novel by Daniel French, presented at the CTD'A (Centre du Théâtre d'Aujourd'hui) as part of the Montreal Fringe Festival. It was on this occasion that he founded his company Les Productions Lion Casavant. In 2019, he directed and produced his first short film, "19:00", a foray into the heart of a disturbing and brutal world. This unique film won an official selection at the 33rd edition of the Image + Nation Film Festival LGBTQueer Montreal.
