Legends of Tomorrow Cast Reveal Their Dream Dcu Roles
Image
The DC Legends of Tomorrow cast would all love to return one day, even if it's in a different universe.

Reassembling at a Megacon Orlando panel, Legends actor Caity Lotz, Brandon Routh, Arthur Darvill, and Matt Ryan were all asked what characters they'd like to play if James Gunn ever cast them in the Dcu timeline. In response, Lotz and Darvill selected Catwoman and Alfred Pennyworth, respectively, while Routh chose Superman, having previously played him in Superman Returns and reprised his role in Crisis on Infinite Earths alongside his Arrowverse performance as Ray Palmer/the Atom. Ryan, meanwhile, selected John Constantine, the role he played for nearly a decade across NBC's short-lived Constantine series, the Arrowverse, and multiple animated films, including the DC Animated Movie Universe's three-part Crisis adaptation.

Q: “If you could play a character in James Gunn’s new Dcu, which one would you pick?â...

The CBS Evening News is figuring two heads are better than one.

The Eye Network’s long-running national newscast shook up its format on Monday, introducing not one but two new anchors, with John Dickerson and Maurice DuBois each taking a seat behind the desk. DC's Most Outlandish TV Show Foreshadowed a Beloved Character's Death Much Earlier
Image
Quick Links How Legends of Tomorrow Foreshadowed Martin Stein's Death in Season 1 Why Martin Stein and Jefferson Jackson Were the Arrowverse's Best Firestorm Martin Stein's Death Was One of Legends of Tomorrow's Most Emotional Moments

With the finale of Superman & Lois, fans are looking back at the Dctv shows on The CW that aired over the past dozen years. These series varied greatly in tone and style, but each brought unique and beloved characters from DC Comics to life. The most outlandish one, DC's Legends of Tomorrow, included Firestorm and from its first season foreshadowed the death of fan-favorite character, Martin Stein.

Legends of Tomorrow embraced comics' silly side, and over the course of that first season, the characters came into their own as heroes. When Robbie Amell's Ronnie Raymond left The Flash, producers cast Franz Drameh to play Jefferson Jackson. He made up the other half of...

Anna Osceola's Mad Men Character Explained (She Wasn't A Don Draper Love Interest)
Image
Many know Anna Osceola as Jon Hamm's wife, and while the pair did meet on the Mad Men set, many are surprised to learn who Osceola played. The acclaimed AMC series centers around Hamm's Don Draper, an advertising executive in 1960s New York who's a chronic womanizer. Don is repeatedly unfaithful throughout both of his marriages, finding sexual conquests at the office, swanky Manhattan cocktail bars, and even California, a place near and dear to Don's heart that he visits frequently throughout the show.

It's California where Don finds himself in the series finale, and the Mad Men ending sees him the lowest he's ever been. He's all alone, having divorced Megan (Jessica Par), and has recently learned that his other ex-wife, Betty (January Jones) has terminal lung cancer. Despite her prognosis, Betty doesn't want their children to live with Don. Full of regret, Don turns to the...

These Superhero Moms Are Partnering With Momcozy To Build A 'Cozy Evolution'
Image
Moms really are superheroes, aren't they? That's at least what a bedazzled Stanley cup said at my last Kindergarten parent night. I may have even seen it on a rear window a time or two next to a stick figure woman wearing a cape standing next to a gaggle of children. But all joking aside, it's true. We go above and beyond the call of duty.

As our children grow, we see them absorb some of our own hobbies; like my obsession of watching fictional superheroes on the big and small screen. I'll never forget the day I sat my four-year-old down to watch Thor (Chris Hemsworth) land in Wakanda and told him, "this is a very important thing. Please be quiet." My second born's first word was "Martha." Needless to say, little Willian and Henry are hooked. As older lads now, they watch it all, from "Zach Snyder's...

Yoga Teacher Killer: The Kaitlin Armstrong Story Review – A Gripping True Crime Drama
Image
The Lifetime movie Yoga Teacher Killer: The Kaitlin Armstrong Story tells the harrowing story inspired by real events in Austin, Texas. In 2022, up-and-coming cyclist Moriah “Mo” Wilson was found shot dead in her home, with suspicion quickly falling on Kaitlin Armstrong. Armstrong had been in an on-again, off-again relationship with fellow cyclist Colin Strickland but grew increasingly jealous as he bonded with the younger Wilson.

Portrayed by Caity Lotz, Armstrong is a yoga instructor balancing a tumultuous personal life with her career. Her hopes of settling down with boyfriend Strickland, played by Kyle Schmid, are threatened by his growing closeness with newcomer Wilson, portrayed sympathetically by Larissa Dias. As Strickland backtracks on commitments to Armstrong, her envy and insecurity spiral out of control. When she discovers the two together, in a horrifying act, Armstrong takes Wilson’s life.

The film unpacks Armstrong’s volatile mental state and the toxic factors fueling her obsession.

Ludi Lin in Art of Eight Limbs (2024)
Mortal Kombat’s Ludi Lin infiltrates a martial arts tournament in the trailer for Art of Eight Limbs, which is now available on Digital
Ludi Lin in Art of Eight Limbs (2024)
Tiger Style Media is partnering with Paramount‘s Republic Pictures for old-school-style martial arts double feature releases. The first two of the four films released this month are Art of Eight Limbs and The Lockdown. Art of Eight Limbs stars Ludi Lin, who plays Liu Kang in 2021’s Mortal Kombat and the upcoming Mortal Kombat 2. The trailer will likely give viewers some déjà vu as the plot of infiltrating a martial arts tournament led by a criminal comes straight from Bruce Lee’s famous film Enter the Dragon. However, mix it in with some Muay Thai action and it’s a cocktail for some martial arts mayhem.

The official synopsis reads,

“In this action-packed thriller from a producer of Once Upon a Time… in Hollywood, Ludi Lin stars as a CIA data analyst and part-time kickboxer. Sent on a mission to Myanmar, he must infiltrate a martial arts tournament...

Official Trailer for Myanmar Prison Fight Action Movie 'The Lockdown'
Image
"You're in a death factory. Unless you figure out how to survive... you won't." Even that one line is awful. Republic Pictures via Paramount has revealed an official trailer for The Lockdown, a martial arts action thriller from filmmaker Ryan C Jaeger making his feature directorial debut. Another of these direct-to-video dumps, an exceptionally generic action movie from Myanmar made by the same producers that also made Art of Eight Limbs. Looks like they made two films in a row in Myanmar and Thailand and this is the second one. Siblings Charlie and Jack are trapped in Myanmar's toughest prison and accused of a crime they didn't commit. Forced into televised fights against other inmates, they must work together and fight hard for their freedom. Starring Caity Lotz, Leo Howard, Michael Biehn, Hon Ping Tang, Jennifer Blanc-Biehn, and Kelly B. Jones, and many others. This film looks only slightly better than Art of Eight Limbs,...

10 Times DC Villains Became Heroes On-Screen
Image
DC has a long history of creating complex and multidimensional characters, and some of these villains have even found redemption and fought alongside the heroes. Captain Cold in the Arrowverse starts as a villain but eventually redeems himself and becomes a member of the Legends of Tomorrow team. The Suicide Squad are villains recruited to a mission for the goverment who end up choosing to do the right thing and save the world.

The DC Universe has introduced many iconic villains to the worlds of its heroes, and many of these have even helped fight greater threats. With some DC villains more effective in shows than movies and vice versa, there is an enormous library of exceptional characters performing horrible deeds. Villains like Joker have grown to become arguably as famous as many of the heroes, with Joker: Folie Deux's impending release set to make that movie one of the biggest of the year.

Recasting 10 Arrowverse Stars For James Gunns DC Universe
Image
The Arrowverse has plenty of talented actors that could join James Gunn's DC Universe. Gunn wants to work with The Flash star Grant Gustin. Legacy castings like Tyler Hoechlin as Jor-El or Melissa Benoist as Power Girl could be options for the Dcu.

With the Arrowverse over after more than a decade, stars from the TV franchise could make the jump to film in James Gunn's DC Universe. The Arrowverse's shows kept DC going in live-action when the Dceu left much to be desired in the movie side. While the DC TV universe did have issues over the years, the franchise will be mostly remembered with fondness, as the Arrowverse showed that a shared DC universe in live-action was possible.

Crossover events like Crisis on Infinite Earths included several DC characters, with the Arrowverse bringing in a talented roster as the many DC heroes and villains that appeared over several seasons of television.

With its retro vibes and fascinating explorations of mental health and other themes, The Killer Inside: The Ruth Finley Story is compelling.

It's also helmed by a truly dynamic duo, Teri Hatcher and Tahmoh Penikett.

We had the distinct pleasure of hopping on Zoom with Penikett to discuss the importance of this story and the complexities of his role.

The incredibly insightful and passionate star also speaks about his excellent collaboration with Teri Hatcher, the personal inspiration he drew from for his role, and so much more. Check it out!

Yoga Teacher Killer: The True Story of Kaitlin Armstrong and Moriah Wilson

The Yoga Teacher Killer: The Kaitlin Armstrong Story premieres on Lifetime on June 15, 2024.

It is the story of a yoga teacher who murdered a professional cyclist in 2022.

Yoga Teacher Killer Falls Short on Depth and Substance Despite Caity Lotz's Best Efforts

They say, "Hell hath no fury like a woman scorned," but is that the case with Kaitlin Armstrong?

Lifetime delivers another "Ripped from the Headlines" film devoted to the tragic murder of a cyclist by a yoga teacher that was deemed the "Love Triangle Murder."

Caity Lotz stars in Yoga Teacher Killer: The Kaitlin Armstrong Story alongside hubby Kyle Schmid, and it certainly illuminates an unsettling tale.

A Perfunctory, Sensationalized Account of a Tragedy

Listen, Caity Lotz is a fantastic actress. She has gifted us incredible performances, particularly as Sara Lance in the entire Arrow Universe.

“It’s never made any sense to me”: Stephen Amell’s Brutal Confession Exposed One Dark Reality about the Arrowverse Crossovers We’ve All Ignored
Image
Stephen Amell’s work in Arrow has always been highly regarded. His contribution to the Arrowverse was one that many sought out to be both entertaining and impactful. A key feature of working on shows and movies is the connections that get built not just with the cast and crew but also with the audiences. So much so that because Arrow and Supernatural were being filmed on nearby sets, Amell developed a great friendship with Jared Padalecki and Jensen Ackles.

If bonds outside of his own show can be so strong, then there is no need for it to be imagined how deep the bonds of every one of Arrow were. Seeing the care Amell had for his cast and crew, his death sequence should have held value beyond any other, regardless of it being part of a major crossover or not.

5 Actors Star Trek: Strange New Worlds Should Cast As Carol Marcus
Image
Lt. James T. Kirk mentioned his pregnant girlfriend, Carol Marcus, in Star Trek: Strange New Worlds season 2. The character of Dr. Carol Marcus was introduced in Star Trek II: The Wrath of Khan and became pregnant with Kirk's son, David Marcus. Several actors, including Sarah Jones, Claire Holt, Candice King, Caity Lotz, and Eliza Taylor, are suggested as potential actresses to play Carol Marcus.

In Star Trek: Strange New Worlds season 2, Lt. James T. Kirk (Paul Wesley) mentioned his pregnant girlfriend, Carol Marcus, but who should play Kirk's on-again-off-again girlfriend if she appears in Strange New Worlds season 3? The character of Dr. Carol Marcus (Bibi Besch) was first introduced in Star Trek II: The Wrath of Khan. Carol and James had met and began a relationship sometime in the late 2250s, during which time Carol became pregnant with Kirk's son, David Marcus (Merritt Butrick). Although Kirk knew of his son's existence,...

10 Years Ago, the Arrowverse Truly Began With Grant Gustin’s Debut as Barry Allen
Image
Yes, it has been suggested that the Arrowverse first took flight with Arrow‘s own October 2012 premiere. But truly, it was 14 months later, on Dec. 4, 2013 — when Barry Allen aka the would-be Flash first set foot in Starling City — that TV’s expanded DC universe started to take shape.

This is where I remind you that when The CW gave a series about Green Arrow a green light, the notion of eventually introducing other standalone hero series was but a gleam in anybody’s eye.

10 Lessons The Dcu Needs To Learn From The Arrowverse
Image
The new DC Universe should take a gradual approach to introducing its heroes, similar to the success of the Arrowverse. A strong foundation, like Arrow in the Arrowverse, is crucial for the success of the new DC Universe. The DC Universe should take inspiration from the Arrowverse in terms of diverse and strong casting, embracing the craziness of DC Comics, and incorporating the multiverse concept without overusing it.

When planning for the future of the new DC Universe, DC Studios co-CEOs James Gunn and Peter Safran can learn some valuable lessons from the success of The CW's Arrowverse. After a long period of turmoil behind-the-scenes at Warner Bros. and DC Studios, and a series of releases that performed disappointingly, the DC Extended Universe is set to be rebooted into the DC Universe. The Dcu will kick off with Creature Commandos and Waller in 2024 before Superman: Legacy releases in 2025. While Gunn...

Stephen Amell joins WGA, SAG-AFTRA strikes weeks after criticising them
Image
Los Angeles, Aug 12 (Ians) Actor Stephen Amell best known for his role in ‘Arrow’ as the superhero Green Arrow, has joined the picket lines of the WGA and SAG-AFTRA strikers just weeks after protesting their stance, as the actor had earlier proceeded to call their strike as very harmful to the industry.

The ‘Arrow’ star was spotted alongside his wife Cassandra Jean Amell in Manhattan on Friday, holding a picket sign and wearing a SAG-AFTRA Strong T-shirt. The actor had been heavily criticised for his comments against the strikers, as he had labeled it an “ineffective negotiation strategy”.

Since then though, Amell seems to have changed his stance, whether due to the high criticism he received or just a change of mind his unknown. As reported by Variety, the actor clarifying his stance said: “I support my union, I do. And I stand with them. I do not support striking.

Stephen Amell Hits the Picket Line After Criticism for Anti-Strike Statements
Image
Weeks after delivering anti-strike comments during a fan convention, actor Stephen Amell was spotted on the picket line in New York on Friday. Wearing a black “SAG-AFTRA Strong” and carrying a sign, Amell was on the other side of the country from his former “Arrow” costars and creative team, who struck together in front of Warner Bros. Studios in Burbank during a planned reunion picket. Those attending the reunion picket Friday included “Arrow” actors Kirk Acevedo, Katie Cassidy, Juliana Harkavy, Willa Holland, Katrina Law and Caity Lotz, as well as executive producers Marc Guggenheim, Wendy Mericle and Beth Schwartz.

Amell earned criticism from fellow union members after seeming to speak critically about the strike on July 30 at Galaxycon in Raleigh, N.C. in a widely-distribted clip.

“I support my union, I do. And I stand with them. I do not support striking. I don’t. I think that it is a reductive negotiating tactic,...

Image
Arrow actor Stephen Amell, despite his earlier comments against striking, joined the SAG-AFTRA picket line alongside fellow actors in New York City. Amell faced heavy criticism for his previous comments on striking, but his participation in the strike is seen as a positive move. The impact of Amell's controversial stance on his future career remains uncertain, but time will reveal if he faces any obstacles in the industry.

The fight for the future of Hollywood continues as the Writers Guild of America and SAG-AFTRA strikes are still in effect. Throughout the summer, writers and actors have been protesting the Alliance of Motion Picture and Television Producers for better wages, among other aspects of their new contracts, and have been picketing outside numerous Hollywood studios.

However, one actor who has been...

Stephen Amell Joins SAG Picket Lines After Anti-Strike Comments
Image
Stephen Amell, alongside fellow Arrow cast members and producers, participated in the "Arrow Reunion Picket" event on the East and West Coasts following some recent controversy.

The participation of Amell, who is best known for his role in The CW's Arrowverse, comes shortly after his contentious comments criticizing the ongoing actors' strike, which was met with criticism. The CW's Arrowverse Made Representation Seem Effortless
Image
The series finale of The Flash also served as the finale for the Arrowverse, the shared universe of DC Comics characters on The CW. The shows are the hidden gem of the past decade, including how effortless the Arrowverse made diverse representation seem. While DC movies still struggle with inclusivity, kids who grew up with Dctv on The CW saw a superhero universe that looked like the world they lived in.

Of course, representation on screen is only half the battle. The co-creator of Lost apologized for toxicity on a show that featured one of the most diverse casts on TV -- but that inclusivity did not extend to the writers' room. The Flash star Candice Patton was outspoken about racism and toxicity she dealt with in the show's early years. Time will tell if any lessons were truly learned behind the scenes, but on-screen the Arrowverse introduced queer characters and characters of color,...

The Flash Finale Proves a Final Legends of Tomorrow Season Would Work
Image
The following contains spoilers for The Flash Season 9, Episode 13, "A New World, Part Four: Finale," which aired May 24 on The CW.

Despite what some fans and critics called declining quality, the ninth and final season of The Flash seems to be a hit. If not in the ratings, it generally pleased fans and critics alike, if only because the important characters got the closure they needed. More than ever, this proves that one bit of unfinished business James Gunn and Peter Safran must address is a final season for DC's Legends of Tomorrow.

The Flash's final season delivered the moments fans wanted to see, from peak WestAllen content to Barry reuniting with Oliver, Wally West and other Arrowverse characters like Dreamer. A final (possibly shortened) season of Legends of Tomorrow can do the same thing for those characters, while also celebrating their shared universe in ways even The Flash was unable to do.
