Interview with the Vampire changes title to The Vampire Lestat for third season; featurette goes behind the scenes
Anne Rice
Over a year has gone by since AMC announced that they had ordered a third season of Anne Rice’s Interview with the Vampire – and that with season 3, the show would be moving on to the events of the second novel in Rice’s Vampire Chronicles series, The Vampire Lestat. The network still hasn’t announced a specific release date for the new season (we only know it’s coming in 2026), but Deadline reports that they have officially confirmed that the title of the show has changed to The Vampire Lestat! AMC also unveiled a behind-the-scenes featurette, which can be seen in the embed above.

In this story, Lestat becomes the frontman in a rock band, something that carries over into the events of the third book, The Queen of the Damned. That’s why those books were mashed together for the 2002 film Queen of the Damned, where Lestat’s...

‘Interview With the Vampire’ Star Reveals the Out of This World Musician Who Influenced Lestat’s Rockstar Persona
Image
AMC is ready to rock and roll in 2026. The third season of their hit series Interview With the Vampire is arriving next year, and with it comes a whole new side of Sam Reid’s Lestat. Traumatized by his tumultuous relationship with Louis (Jacob Anderson), Season 3 sees Lestat turn to the public eye for affection, turning himself into a rockstar of immense proportions — though not wholly original ideas.

At AMC’s Immortal Universe panel at San Diego Comic-Con, Reid broke down the influences he looked to for Lestat’s rockstar persona. The big name he dropped was David Bowie — one people have been speculating about since it was revealed that Season 3 would focus on The Vampire Lestat — but he also named Jim Morrison, lead singer of The Doors, as well as Nirvana’s Kurt Cobain. All the stars Reid listed are known for their flamboyance and loud on-stage personalities, which...

Interview With the Vampire Gets New Title for Season 3
Image
Big updates were revealed during the Anne Rice's Immortal Universe panel at San Diego Comic-Con. Fans were treated to a sneak peek at the upcoming third season of Interview With the Vampire, which has had its title changed.

As announced at Sdcc, Season 3 has been officially titled as Anne Rice's The Vampire Lestat. This hints at the shift in the series, which saw its first two seasons take inspiration from author Anne Rice's first novel. That story focused primarily on the relationship between Louis de Pointe du Lac (Jacob Anderson) and Lestat de Lioncourt (Sam Reid); Louis recounted the story to journalist Daniel Molloy (Eric Bogosian).

The second novel of Rice's book series is called The Vampire Lestat, which reaffirms how this story will serve as the basis for the new season. As the title would suggest, the plot will see Lestat becoming a rock star to take back control of his story.

‘Interview With the Vampire’ Takes on New Title for Season 3: ‘The Vampire Lestat’
Image
AMC is making a big change to Interview With the Vampire for the show’s third season. The core cast remains, as does showrunner Rolin Jones, but the series is being retitled as The Vampire Lestat.

The change, announced Saturday at Comic-Con, marks a shift in the series based on Anne Rice’s Vampire Chronicles novels. Seasons one and two of Interview With the Vampire, inspired by Rice’s first novel, focused on the relationship between Louis de Pointe du Lac (Jacob Anderson) and the vampire who turned him, Lestat de Lioncourt (Sam Reid), with Louis recounting his story to journalist Daniel Molloy (Eric Bogosian).

Season three will shift to Lestat’s point of view, as Reid’s character becomes a rock star and tries to reclaim his story from the way Louis told it, inspired by Rice’s second novel in the series (also called The Vampire Lestat).

Along with Reid,...

Lemonade Blessing (2025) ‘Tribeca’ Movie Review: A Quirky Coming-of-Age Film about Living Under the Overwhelming Burden of Endless Expectations
Image
Lemonade Blessing” (2025) revolves around the geeky teenager archetype we have seen plenty of times in American cinema. Think of Jason Schwartzman’s character from “Rushmore,” who falls in love with his teacher and naively believes that she is his soulmate. He is ready to go to any lengths, even if it means standing up against her partner. Anderson has made a career out of following similarly awkward and oftentimes socially reserved young characters who learn to grow out of their insecurities for love. Michael Cera and Jesse Eisenberg have played different shades of this exact character, whose social awkwardness often defines them.

Coincidentally, the star of “Lemonade Blessing,” Jake Ryan, comes from the Wes Anderson school of acting. After being in Anderson’s “Asteroid City” and “Moonrise Kingdom,” Ryan returns in a similarly zany comedy-drama as John Santucci, a socially inept teenager in constant crisis mode. He is a child of divorce,...

Apples Never Fall Review: A Rote, Off-the-Rack Whodunit
Sam Neill, Annette Bening, Alison Brie, Jake Lacy, Conor Merrigan Turner, and Essie Randles in Apples Never Fall (2024)
In the opening scene of Apples Never Fall, Joy Delaney (Annette Bening) takes a leisurely bike ride through West Palm Beach, Florida. She’s got the time, having recently retired after decades of coaching tennis alongside her husband, Stan (Sam Neill). Joy cycles by palm trees and mansions and stops to browse stands of impossibly perfect fruit. But as she passes tennis courts bustling with players, her mouth curves into a wistful frown.

A sense of melancholy nags at the superficial idyll of Joy’s excursion, only to burst into outright dread when we see her bike overturned in the street, its back wheel still spinning and its frame splattered with blood, and Joy nowhere to be found. This scene introduces an alluring air of mystery regarding Joy’s inner life and the nature of her seemingly utopian environment. Unfortunately, that intrigue proves incredibly short-lived—a victim of Apples Never Fall’s plodding pace,...

‘Apples Never Fall’ Showrunner Details How She Put ‘Big Little Lies’ To The Back Of Her Mind When Adapting Peacock Thriller & Why Annette Bening’s Performance Gives Her “Goosebumps” – Series Mania
Image
Exclusive: Melanie Marnich is a huge fan of Big Little Lies scribe Liane Moriarty’s work, but when showrunning an adaptation of Moriarty’s Apples Never Fall, Marnich blocked the HBO hit from her consciousness almost entirely.

Peacock’s Apples Never Fall, which stars 2024 Oscar-nominee Annette Bening, launches tomorrow and is in international competition at next week’s Series Mania, was made with a Big Little Lies-free lens, Marnich explained to Deadline.

“I admire Big Little Lies and think it’s brilliant but I had to literally put it out my mind,” she said in the days leading up to the Lille market. “I knew I had to quite quickly ignore all [Moriarty’s past work] and ask what this book wants to be and what the best way is to honor it. How do I ignore all that came before to find the best voice and vision for this translation?”
