Scott Padgett Departs CBS News Texas As Chief Meteorologist, Joins CBS News New York’s First Alert Weather Team

On Friday, CBS News announced that Scott Padgett, chief meteorologist for CBS News Texas (Ktvt/Ktxa), would be departing the station to join the First Alert Weather team at CBS News New York (Wcbs/Wlny), starting Monday, June 30. The team already includes Lonnie Quinn, Vanessa Murdock and John Elliott.

“We are thrilled to see Scott transition to CBS New York. We thank him for his outstanding contributions and wish him the very best,” said Meagan Harris, news director of CBS Texas, where Padgett worked for 12 years, nearly a decade of which as chief meteorologist.

“I am excited to join CBS New York’s First Alert Weather team and fulfill my lifelong dream of forecasting in New York,” said Padgett. “While it is bittersweet to leave CBS Texas, I am grateful for the incredible support from my colleagues and viewers over the past 12 years.”

‘Pose,’ Lil Nas X Among Winners at GLAAD Media Awards
Lil Nas X
LIl Nas X, the FX series “Pose,” and the children’s staple “Sesame Street” were all recognized Friday at the 33rd annual GLAAD Media Awards.

In addition, the LGBTQ+ organization honored “Power Rangers” in the kids & family category, and the Broadway productions “Company” and “Thoughts of a Colored Man.”

Judith Light received GLAAD’s Excellence in Media Award from recent Oscar winner Ariana DeBose, while “Star Trek: Discovery” star Wilson Cruz received the Vito Russo Award at the star-studded ceremony.

The New York ceremony was hosted by Peloton instructor Cody Rigsby and “RuPaul’s Drag Race” alum Peppermint. The event also featured special performances from Dove Cameron and Michael R. Jackson, who performed from his Pulitzer-Prize winning Broadway musical “A Strange Loop.”

Last month, an L.A. ceremony recognized additional winners, including the comedy series “Hacks” and the Disney/Marvel movie “Eternals.”

The 33rd annual GLAAD Media Awards took place in New York City tonight celebrating LGBTQ+ excellence in Hollywood. Honorees include FX’s Pose and Lil Nas X. The event is a continuation of the Los Angeles celebration that took place on April 2.

The east coast ceremony was hosted by celebrity Peloton Instruction Cody Rigbsy and transgender recording artist, actress, GLAAD Board Member, and RuPaul’s Drag Race Alum Peppermint. The event also featured special performances from Dove Cameron and Michael R. Jackson.
