Eva Victor’s Sundance Darling ‘Sorry, Baby’ Debuts In Limited Release – Specialty Preview
Image
A24’s black comedy Sorry, Baby, comedian and actor Eva Victor‘s feature writing and directing debut produced by Barry Jenkins, opens at Lincoln Square and Angelika in NY, and the Grove and Century City in L.A.. This was one of the buzziest titles in Sundance and one of the few there to sell in a major deal — for about $8 million.

“A star is born, and so is a born filmmaker,” said Deadline’s review, with Pete Hammond calling it “one of the most assured and heartfelt films I have seen in a very long time.” It went on to close the Directors’ Fortnight section at Cannes.

The film lands amid a box office boom with another big weekend led by F1 and M3GAN 2.0. Indie distributors have been carefully evaluating whether the rising tide of the past few months lifts all boats and has been rather upbeat so far.

Blur: To The End Review – Reuniting for the Fans
Image
It had been nearly a decade since Blur last united in the studio. Formed in the late 80s in Colchester, the band rose to prominence in the 90s British music scene alongside groups like Oasis. Led by frontman Damon Albarn, their energetic brand of pop-rock earned them critical and commercial success with hit albums like Parklife.

But the pressures of fame took their toll over time. Relationships strained, and members pursued other projects. By 2015, eight years had passed since their last record together. Then in 2023, Albarn began writing songs dealing with a recent heartbreak. He knew these intimate pieces could only be fully realized with his bandmates by his side once more.

So the quartet reconvened, now in their 50s, to record The Ballad of Darren. Director Toby L was there to capture it all, from the first anxious meetings to emotional studio sessions. He also followed them on a...

Blur: To The End Review
Image
The enduring friendship between members of the group Blur is on full display in this moving and beautifully executed rock documentary from director Toby L (Liam Gallagher: Knebworth 22).

Blur: To The End, follows lead singer Damon Albarn, bassist Alex James, guitarist Graham Coxon and drummer Dave Rowntree as they make a surprise return with their first record in 8 years, the critically acclaimed number 1 album The Ballad of Darren. The film follows the band as they get ready to play two historic Wembley stadium gigs in July 2023.

“We were never big enough to play Wembley before” utters Albarn, perhaps not completely seriously, from his studio in the Devon countryside. Hinting at his newly single status after the end of his twenty-five year relationship, Albarn is unravelling in more ways than one. His knees are giving up, and his demeanour isn’t quite as spritely as it once was, but this...

blur: To The End
Image
Best known for era-defining ’90s hits including ‘Parklife’, ‘Girls & Boys’ and ‘Country House’, Blur escaped the Britpop ghetto to become sophisticated indie rockers while maintaining their large, devoted fanbase. With blur: To The End, director Toby L offers an intimate, revealing portrait of the quartet now.

In early 2023, frontman Damon Albarn invites his bandmates to a Devon recording studio to make The Ballad Of Darren, their first album in eight years. He almost crashes his car — a morbidly funny scene given Albarn had just been ruminating on death. This sets the tone, with more laugh-out-loud moments of gallows humour to follow. Before a Colchester Arts Centre gig undertaken as a warm-up for two huge Wembley Stadium shows, Albarn and self-deprecating guitarist Graham Coxon return to The Stanway School, which they attended as children and now has a classroom named for them. The headmaster is dumbstruck when Albarn profanely explains why...

Marisa Abela in Back to Black (2024)
I get up when I want. Except on Tuesdays, when I get rudely awakened by a new blur documentary trailer.

Iconic British rock band, blur, have unveiled a new trailer and cinema release date for their upcoming documentary, blur: To The End.

Filmed during the production of their surprise 2023 album, The Ballad Of Darren, the film looks behind the scenes at the group’s reunion after eight years of almost complete isolation from each other.

Check out the blur: To The End trailer below:

The film’s director, Toby L, said in a statement: “We sat down at the start of the project and agreed that the film had to tell a new story, be shot entirely on location, and crucially, be honest. In To The End, that’s what I hope people can see, and most importantly, feel.

“Working with blur on this documentary, over the past year has...

Damon Albarn
Altitude has debuted the trailer for the documentary on one of the pivotal bands of the Brit-pop era, ‘blur: To The End’.

Depicting the most recent chapter in the band’s story, the doc is captured during the period in which they made a surprise – and emotional – return with their first record in 8 years, the critically acclaimed #1 album ‘The Ballad of Darren’.

The documentary follows the unique relationship of four friends – and bandmates of three decades – Damon Albarn, Graham Coxon, Alex James and Dave Rowntree as they came together in early 2023 to record new songs ahead of their sold-out, first-ever shows at London’s Wembley Stadium in July last summer.

Featuring performances of their most iconic, much-loved songs, footage of the band in the studio and life on the road, the doc is an intimate moment in time with this most enduring of English bands, who have been at the...

Liam Gallagher in The Biggest Weekend (2018)
Trailer lands for documentary ‘Liam Gallagher – Knebworth 22.’
Liam Gallagher in The Biggest Weekend (2018)
Trafalgar Releasing, Warner Music Entertainment and MTV Entertainment Studios have unveil the trailer for the feature-length documentary ‘Liam Gallagher –

Knebworth 22.’

The theatrical event screenings will also feature two additional songs from the Knebworth

performance to be played after the main feature, this content is exclusive to cinemas and will not appear on any further film release.

Earlier this year Liam Gallagher defied all expectations and returned to Knebworth, some

26 years following Oasis’ historic 1996 shows. Performing to 170,000 fans across two sold-out nights in one of the first significant stage shows following the pandemic, this year’s event coincided with a third solo album, C’mon You Know, attaining Liam’s third number-one spot for a studio release in the album charts.

Liam Gallagher – Knebworth 22 is a new feature-length documentary that traces Liam back

to the site of his former band’s defining performances, including all-new interviews, behind-the-scenes and concert footage captured from 20 camera positions.

Liam Gallagher announces brand new Knebworth documentary set for cinemas
Image
A new Liam Gallagher documentary will air in cinemas this November.

The new film – Liam Gallagher - Knebworth 22 – is a feature-length documentary about the Oasis rock star.

The news comes off the back of Gallagher’s performances at Knebworth earlier this year, in his return to the stage after 26 years.

Gallagher last performed there together with his brother Noel for Oasis’s historic shows back in 1996.

The new documentary will see the singer revisiting the band’s defining performances, and includes new interviews and behind-the-scenes footage.

The film will also incorporate different fan perspectives from across the years, juxtaposing the 1990’s fan culture with that of today.

“I’m still in shock that I got to play Knebworth two nights, 26 years after I played it with Oasis. I’m still trying to get my head around it,” Gallagher said.

“To have played to multiple generations at the same venue so...
