Roshan Singh, a leading distributor of Bihar, says, “So far, 2025 has been filled with action films which have all been rejected in bulk. I think the time is right for a love story, and that too breezy one. Loveyapa fills that bill.”

You have been closely associated with Junaid through his father, Aamir Khan, whom you have directed in Secret Superstar and Laal Singh Chaddha?
I’ve known Junaid for almost 20 years now. He’s always been a very grounded person. In fact, when I bought my first car after Secret Superstar, he said what a waste of money autos are so convenient.
What was it like directing him after knowing him from his childhood?
On set, he’s a complete team player. He is concerned about taking a lunch break on time so that the shooting unit doesn’t get hungry.

This seems to be the week of honourable but adventurous remakes. While Advait Chandan’s Loveyapa is that slurpy healthy fast food that doesn’t trivialize the palate of the original, Mrs, directed by debutante Aarti Kadav, cracks the adaptive code without any mishap.
Ms Kadav has Sanya Malhotra’s stout support from first to last frame, just as director Jeo Baby had Nimisha Sajan in the original Malayalam film The Great Indian Kitchen.
This may sound shocking to the purists. But I actually “enjoyed” Mrs more than The Great Indian Kitchen, which is not to say that the original was a lesser film. It was probably a much more accomplished work. But heck, Mrs is just so much more immersive. Part of it comes from Malhotra, who captures the horror of a newly married woman trapped in the kitchen with a seamless spontaneity.

Bollywood legend Aamir Khan is set to debut his version of the hit film Forrest Gump, with some differences specially designed for Indian audiences.

Once in a while, in this imperfect world, we get a near-perfect film about flawed characters trying to stay on the straight and narrow path. Actor-turned-screenwriter Atul Kulkarni’s adaptation of Robert Zemeckis’ 1994 classic Forrest Gump is every bit as charming disarming, and enchanting as the original, and then some more.
Some characters, especially that of the heroine, is re-written to suit current times. But the spirit of innocence and faith remains intact. Through the naïve uncorrupted eyes of Laal Singh Chaddha, we get a world-view of history as it unfolds from the Partition to the demolition of the Babri Masjid.
