“I was 26 and no one handed me a guidebook. It was a fast education on more stuff than I could ever even process,” she said on the Therapuss podcast of grieving in the public eye.

“If we didn’t show up for work then people wouldn’t have work to go to,” added Michele. “And that was a lot of pressure for me, so I had to put my stuff aside and just show up, so that everybody could continue to work.”

When asked if Monteith’s death brought the cast closer together, she explained, “I...

Glee Stars Reflect On Controversial Episode That They Didn't Want To Film: "You Had To Commit So Hard Because It Was So Bad”
Image
Glee cast members Kevin McHale and Jenna Ushkowitz have recently revisited the show’s controversial season 5 Christmas episode, “Previously Unaired Christmas,” which they admitted was a low point for the cast. The hit jukebox musical series, created by Ryan Murphy, followed the lives of a high school glee club and their tumultuous personal and musical journeys under the guidance of their teacher, Will Schuester (Matthew Morrison). Known for its bold humor, heartfelt drama, and extravagant performances, Glee was a ratings powerhouse and a cultural phenomenon for Fox, winning multiple Emmy and Golden Globe Awards during its six-season run.

However, not every moment in the show’s history hit the right notes, as McHale and Ushkowitz recalled on their Glee rewatch podcast, And That’s What You Really Missed. The two delved behind the scenes into the chaotic filming process for the episode’s awkward humor and controversial musical numbers, such...

This Drama Did Vampire Love Triangles Better Than The Vampire Diaries
Image
The Vampire Diaries may have come at the tail end of the vampire craze, but it essentially redefined the genre for many YA audiences. It took the teen passion that Twilight gifted audiences and gave it teeth. Following the typical human girl at a typical human high school, Elena Gilbert (Nina Dobrev) becomes the object of the affection of not one vampire but two. Whether fans were Team Stefan (Paul Wesley) or Team Damon (Ian Somerhalder), the series offered juicy plotlines for both. The love triangle fueled the horror elements until the last season, but it was in no way the only game in town.

Around the same time, on a premium network, there was a better vampire love triangle. In 2008, HBO premiered the adaptation of Charlaine Harris' Southern Vampire series. Cleverly entitled True Blood, the series follows a human-adjacent character and her love for two vampires. While Sookie's...

Katy Perry’s Wildest Video Looks, from “California Gurls” to “Woman’s World”
Image
From the neon-haired pin-up of 2010’s “California Gurls” to the metal-mouthed teen of 2011’s “Last Friday Night (T.G.I.F.)” to the strawberry-blond hippie of 2019’s “Never Really Over,” Katy Perry’s career has been largely defined by her outrageous video fashions. The singer’s latest reinvention for “Woman’s World,” the lead single from her seventh studio album, 143, has sparked some backlash. 10 Actors You Forgot Were In True Blood

True Blood was an HBO fantasy TV series that debuted in 2008. The show was based on The Southern Vampire Mysteries book series by Charlaine Harris. It followed Sookie Stackhouse, a waitress with telepathic abilities. True Blood starred Anna Paquin as Sookie and Stephen Moyer as the vampire Bill Compton, Sookie's love interest. 10 TV Shows That Abandoned Major Storylines & Were Better For It
Image
Glee wisely abandoned the Kurt-Sam crush storyline for more fulfilling same-sex relationships, adding depth to the show. New Girl's Abby Day added chaos but her unfinished storyline highlighted only the worst in others, hence her quick exit. Seinfeld stuck to its no learning mantra, avoiding on-and-off relationship dynamics and ensuring consistency.

Certain storylines in television series just do not work, and the show ended up being better off for abandoning them altogether. While it may be a strange experience for audiences to notice storylines that have dropped before they have been resolved, this was sometimes done because there was nothing to be gained from continuing unpopular stories, keeping unnecessary characters in the show, or proceeding with plotlines that nobody was engaged in anymore. This may result in the series feeling somewhat incomplete, but often this was a small price to pay for the sake of entertainment.

Some abandoned major storylines...

‘Glee’ Stars Reveal Their ‘Bratty’ Behavior Forced Ryan Murphy to Flee Set
Image
Glee alums Kevin McHale and Jenna Ushkowitz have revealed how the cast’s “bratty” behavior resulted in show co-creator Ryan Murphy refusing to come to set after the third season. Before he was known as the prolific producer-writer-director behind American Horror Story, Pose, American Crime Story, 9-1-1, Dahmer, and more, Murphy found one of his first major successes with Glee, the musical comedy-drama he co-created with Brad Falchuk and Ian Brennan that aired for six seasons on Fox between 2009 and 2015. However, the show was often the center of controversy and behind-the-scenes drama between its cast and crew. Things are said to have gotten so bad that Murphy walked out after a particularly tense shoot during the making of Season 3 – and didn’t return. McHale and Ushkowitz detailed what happened on a recent episode of their Glee-based podcast series, And That’s What You Really Missed. The pair, who played Artie Abrams and Tina Cohen-Chang,...

12 TV Characters Who Became Way Bigger Than They Were Supposed To
Image
Characters in TV shows can become more important than originally planned due to factors like audience popularity and actor talent. Supporting characters can often become the driving force of a show and have a significant impact on the narrative. The decision to elevate minor characters to major roles can lead to the success and longevity of a show.

Since there is no way to know how many seasons TV shows will get, it is impossible for them to have a fully laid-out plan for the plot, and some characters may end up becoming a lot more important than they were originally supposed to be. This can happen for a variety of reasons, such as the character becoming popular with audiences, another actor abruptly exiting the show and giving way to this character turning into a regular, the actor's natural talent and charm that even the showrunners can't resist, and so on.

Flawed main characters can disrupt the camaraderie and overall success of a show, highlighting the importance of a compelling protagonist.

When it comes to television shows, the main character often takes center stage — but sometimes, the protagonist falls short, leaving viewers eager to see more of other characters instead. Whether it's due to poorly developed character arcs, insufferable personality traits, or a series of questionable decisions, some main characters end up as the weakest link in otherwise promising TV shows. Such scenarios highlight the significant role main characters play in determining a show's overall success, as well as how a single misstep can reshape the perspective.
