A new and exciting version of the animated Tom & Jerry is being brought to the theaters in the near future by Warner Bros. Today's a Frustrating Day for Teen Titans Go! Fans
Image
Teen Titans Go! may have its fans, but Max seemingly isn't one of them. The streamer got a head start on spring cleaning by kicking off 2025 with a content purge.

Per ComicBook.com, Max has removed the first seven seasons of Teen Titans Go! from its platform. Additionally, the original Teen Titans series which aired for five seasons and 65 episodes from 2003 to 2006 is no longer available to stream. The only silver lining is that Season 8 of Teen Titans Go! is still accessible to fans on Max. The eighth (and current) season of the fan-favorite DC animated series premiered in October 2022 and aired its most recent episode, the two-part "Four Hundred," on Nov. 30, 2024.

'Batman The Brave and the Bold' Takes Its Biggest Swing With This Episode
Image
Batman: The Brave and the Bold is one of the best television adaptations of Batman. The show, created by James Tucker and Michael Jelenic, aired on Cartoon Network from 2008 to 2011. Although it leans more lighthearted and silly than Batman: The Animated Series, the writing and animation are just as strong. The great characters, and the balance between humor and pathos make it a very watchable show. The third season achieved a 100% on Rotten Tomatoes. Diedrich Bader (Veep) nailed Bruce Waynes voice so well that he revived the character on Harley Quinn, and even had a cameo in the Season 3 episode of Young Sheldon, in which Sheldon Cooper imagines Batman speaking to him.

10 Saturday Morning Cartoons From The 1990s Based On Video Games
Image
The 1990s seemed to have a strange affinity for cartoons based off of video games, with a number of examples of such being prevalent throughout the decade. In the modern age, video game movies have been more popular than ever, with the upcoming live-action Minecraft adaptation poised to be the next major blockbuster to be based on a popular game series. However, in past decades, TV has been more the realm of video game adaptations, with many Saturday morning cartoons in particular using them as a foundation.

These early interpretations of famous video game characters for the small screen often deviated from the source material dramatically. Today, many of these cartoons are most well-known for being meme fodder, with many humorous edits of their episodes proliferating the feeds of late 2000s YouTube users. From cartoons based on Nintendo properties to other animated adaptations of Capcom or Sega's games, 90s...

The Biggest Year In Animated Movies Is Coming Very Soon
Image
The biggest year in animation, especially in regards to movies, is coming very soon. 2024 has had and continues to have several standout releases and upcoming films in the animation category, including Kung Fu Panda 4, Inside Out 2, and The Wild Robot. While not every release, such as The Garfield Movie, was successful with audiences and critics, this year still showcased some strong new stories and the return of many iconic animated movie characters.

That being said, 2026 is an exciting year for animated movies as several franchises expand their stories with upcoming installments that could add new narrative layers. Several animation studios have announced the continuation of many of their popular titles, keeping a lot of these stories alive for new generations. Others lack specific details about their casts and main storylines, but are still exciting possible additions to the lineup nonetheless. All of these, in short, make 2026 a huge...

Bedrock has been quietly shelved by Fox. The Flintstones revivals have faced many challenges in balancing tone and legacy, with multiple projects scrapped. Despite the cancellation, the series could be revisited in the future.

After a long period of silence surrounding the potential series, Fox's Bedrock has been quietly shelved, leaving the iconic Flintstones world to lay dormant once more. The classic animated series by studio Hanna-Barbera broke ground in its 1960s golden age as the first animated primetime show focused on a family of relatable Stone Age humans and their close friends. The filmmaker added, “I want to [fulfill] people’s greatest desires. I know it’s important, this [Zelda] franchise, to people, and I want it to be a serious movie. A real movie that can give people an escape.”

Ball said the driving force behind the Zelda movie is his desire to “live in that world. That’s the thing I want...

Super Mario Bros 2 | new film coming in 2026
Jack Black, Charlie Day, Scott Menville, Chris Pratt, Kevin Michael Richardson, Seth Rogen, Keegan-Michael Key, and Anya Taylor-Joy in The Super Mario Bros. Movie (2023)
Nintendo and Illumination are collaborating on Super Mario Bros 2, a follow-up to 2023’s huge hit animated movie.

Although reviews for last year’s The Super Mario Bros Movie were decidedly mixed, audiences turned up for the film in droves.

The Illumination Entertainment film, made in partnership with Nintendo, would prove to be hugely popular with audiences on its way to grossing $1.3bn at the global box office. That impressive haul meant the film would ultimately become the second highest grossing film of the year, with only Barbie earning more throughout the year.

In the wake of the film’s success, nobody was surprised when Nintendo announced that an adaptation of The Legend Of Zelda – its beloved and long-running fantasy series – was in the works. Rather than go for another animated feature however, The Legend Of Zelda is set to be live action and will be directed by Wes Ball, the...

Co-directors Aaron Horvath and Michael Jelenic will return for the sequel, and Meledandri said on Sunday that they and their team of animators are already “busy at work storyboarding scenes and developing set designs for new environments.”

He continued, “We start animation soon, and rest assured we’ll be obsessing over every detail to get it just right.”

The first Super Mario Bros. Movie told the origin story of Mario (Chris Pratt) and his younger brother Luigi (Charlie Day), who began as plumbers in Brooklyn before being whisked away to...

Super Mario Bros. Movie 2 Finally Confirmed (& It Already Has A Release Date)
Image
Super Mario Bros. Movie 2 is in the works with a new story and bigger world. Nintendo and Illumination are team up again to bring fans a bright and fun movie experience coming on April 3, 2026. Shigeru Miyamoto promises to expand Mario's world in the new movie, though the team are cautiously not referring to it as a "sequel".

Following its record-breaking run at the box office in 2023, The Super Mario Bros. Movie 2 is finally moving forward. The 2023 movie served as the second adaptation of Nintendo's iconic platforming video game franchise after the infamous 1993 bomb and completely reversed the property's on-screen potential, becoming the second-highest-grossing movie of the year with over $1.36 billion grossed worldwide. Talks have swirled about the potential Super Mario Bros. Movie 2 in the months since it came out, though Bowser star Jack Black has frequently indicated not having heard word of any confirmed plans.

During the latest Mario Day event held by Nintendo,...

New ‘Super Mario Bros.’ World Animated Movie in the Works From Illumination, Nintendo
Image
Illumination and Nintendo will join forces to produce a new animated film based on the world of Super Mario Bros.

The companies previously partnered on last year’s “The Super Mario Bros. Movie,” which grossed more than $1.3 billion and became the second highest-grossing movie of 2023. It’s unclear which fanciful characters the new film will focus on — be they plumbers, princesses, Koopas or other residents of the Mushroom Kingdom — and the partners are not using the word “sequel.” However, the companies did specify that the movie will be released in theaters on April 3, 2026, in the U.S. and additional markets globally. It will be unveiled in other territories throughout April.

The film will be produced by Chris Meledandri, founder and CEO of Illumination, and Shigeru Miyamoto, representative director and fellow of Nintendo and one of the most famous figures in gaming. The close collaboration between the filmmakers and Miyamoto is...

Why Critics Didn't Like The Super Mario Movie
Image
Quick Links The Jokes Don't Land There Are Not Enough Bowser Songs It Focuses Too Heavily On Nostalgia It Lacks Any Emotional Character Moments It's Too Short Mario And Luigi's Family Are Unlikable The Voice Cast is Disappointing Mario And Luigi Don't Grow As Characters It Has A Basic Plot It's Not As Fun As Playing The Games

Although 2023 was a largely disappointing affair for movies at the Box Office, The Super Mario Bros. Movie turned the movie studios' fortunes around with its gigantic revenue. Universal's fantastic love letter to the Super Mario videogames defied its poor critical reception to become Illumination Entertainment's highest-grossing movie. 10 months after its release, Jack Black has spoken out about his disappointment regarding the critics' reviews. However, some fans believe that movie reviewers may have had a point with a few of their critiques.

While The Super Mario Bros. Movie delivers everything that Super Mario fans wished for,...

1 Super Mario Box Office Record Proves Mario Is The King Of Video Game Movies
Image
"The Super Mario Bros. Movie" broke multiple records, including the highest-grossing video game film and Illumination's highest-grossing movie. "Super Mario Bros.: The Movie" (1993) was the previous highest-grossing video game film, despite its critical failure. The potential sequel to "The Super Mario Bros. Movie" could break even more box office records for the Mario franchise.

The Super Mario Bros. Movie was one of the biggest films of 2023, but it isn't the first project based on Nintendo's Mario that has broken box office records, proving why the video game franchise is the best at producing movie adaptations. The animated adventure comedy film, directed by Aaron Horvath and Michael Jelenic and written by Matthew Fogel, premiered in theaters in April 2023 and was an immediate hit (although it received mixed reviews from critics). It ultimately grossed $1.362 billion at the worldwide box office and surpassed numerous established records, much to the surprise of many.

Super Mario Bros Movie's Negative Reviews Get Candid Response From Jack Black 1 Year Later
Image
Jack Black was surprised by the negative reviews of The Super Mario Bros. Movie, recalling thinking after a screening that the movie would go over well. The film ultimately earned mixed reviews from critics, with criticism aimed at the film's weak story and over-reliance on Easter eggs and references. The audience response to The Super Mario Bros. Movie was overwhelmingly positive, and helped push the film to $1.36 earned at the global box office.

The Super Mario Bros. Movie star Jack Black shares his candid thoughts on the negative reviews the movie received upon its release. Directed by Aaron Horvath, Michael Jelenic, and Pierre Leduc, Illumination Entertainment's adaptation of the hit Nintendo video game franchise hit theaters in April 2023, with Chris Pratt providing the voice of the eponymous plumber. Dark Super Mario Bros. Theory Completely Changes How You See Mushroom Kingdom
Image
A dark theory suggests the mushrooms in the Mushroom Kingdom in The Super Mario Bros. Movie grow from deceased Mario bodies. The Mushroom Kingdom becomes a disturbing graveyard in the movie if the theory is true. Princess Peach's skills are even more impressive in the film since a lot of people apparently died before her arrival.

The Super Mario Bros. Movie took viewers into the Mushroom Kingdom to meet Princess Peach (voiced by Anya Taylor-Joy) and the Toads, but one dark theory casts a shadow over this colorful and seemingly innocent realm. Directed by Aaron Horvath and Michael Jelenic, The Super Mario Bros. Movie went from being one of the most anticipated movies of 2023 to one of the highest-grossing films of the year, only beaten by Greta Gerwig’s Barbie. The Super Mario Bros. Box Office: The Super Mario Bros. Movie To Uncharted – Take A Look At Video Game Movie Adaptations With Highest Worldwide Earnings!

A Look at Video Game Movie Adaptations With Highest Box Office Success (Photo Credit – IMDb)

Video game movie adaptations, especially video games with large fanbases, have always been a touchy subject. The ‘physics’ of video games is different; translating all that action and storyline into a film is not the most straightforward task, and when you factor in the expectations of an entire fanbase — the whole ordeal becomes downright daunting. Luckily, video game adaptations have taken off in the past decade, especially on TV in 2023 — and quite successfully! Their box office numbers prove that.

But, as mentioned above, these movies are brutal, considering their more fantastical elements and ‘animation.’ The latest addition anticipated for success in this category is the upcoming Minecraft, scheduled to be released on April 4, 2025.

Minecraft has a star-studded cast, including Jason Momoa, Matt Berry, Danielle Brooks, and possibly Jack Black. Let’s just wait and see how it pans out.
