Podtalk: Filmmaker Sarah Lasley for ‘Welcome to the Enclave’
Image
Chicago – Scheduled within the recent 2024 Chicago Critics Film Festival was “Shorts Program #2.” During that event … curated by Ccff shorts programmer Collin Souter … the Windy City was introduced to Filmmaker Sarah Lasley, with her surreal, expressive and brilliant short “Welcome to the Enclave.”

In 12 rich minutes, “Welcome to the Enclave” introduces us to Moni and Blair, two sisters fighting to save their digital utopia from demise. When they come up with an idea for creating income, they immediately are under attack from internet hackers who have changed their road signs to obscenities and splattered the walls with sexually explicit videos. Together with her sister, Moni desperately looks for a way to save her patch of e-serenity. The film features actor/choreographer Brenna Palughi.
