He was awarded the M.S.M. ( Meritorious Service Medal Meritorious Service Decorations - Civil Division) on May 3, 2021 and Invested on June 26, 2022 from the Canadian Governor General. In 2003, he led the creation of the Available Light Film Festival, an annual 10-day event put on by the Yukon Film Society. In the many roles he has played over the years, including festival director, producer, mentor, programmer and fundraiser, he has continually promoted northern, Indigenous and Canadian films, and has enriched the wider community. His stable leadership has helped the festival become the largest of its kind in Canada's North.
