Kim Magnusson Boards Victoria Warmerdam’s Oscar-Shortlisted Short ‘I’m Not A Robot’ & Forthcoming Feature Adaptation As EP
Image
Exclusive: Renowned Danish producer Kim Magnusson has boarded I’m Not a Robot, the Oscar-shortlisted live-action short from rising Dutch filmmaker Victoria Warmerdam, as an executive producer, with plans to help Magnusson adapt the film for the big screen.

As we were first to report, Eric Martin, head writer and executive producer for Loki Season 2, will also produce alongside Tobias Weymar, through their Rearview Pictures, along with the producer of the short, Trent of the Netherlands-based Oak Motion Pictures.

In the short — one of 15 named last month to the Oscars’ shortlist for Live-Action Short — music producer Lara faces an existential crisis after repeatedly failing a routine Captcha test, leading her to question whether she might actually be a robot. As her day spirals out of control, she desperately searches for answers in a darkly comedic exploration of identity and self-perception.

We’re told the feature will delve deeper into themes of identity,...

Loki Season 2 Deleted Scene Is 90 Seconds Of Two Best Buds Enjoying Some Key Lime Pie Together
Image
Ahead of Loki season 2's release on 4K SteelBook, another deleted scene has been released and it's essentially 90 seconds of the God of Mischief and the Tva's Mobius enjoying a couple of slices of Key Lime Pie.

Yes, it's a minute and a half of them eating pie, though the two best pals also share their thoughts on its taste and, more specifically, the quality of the cream on top. Neither seems overly impressed and Mobius even suggests it could be used as shaving cream.

The friendship between these characters was cemented over the course of two seasons, making it all the more tragic when they were separated in the finale. Loki is trapped at the end of time and Mobius is now exploring the Multiverse, hopefully ahead of a return in Avengers: Doomsday and/or Avengers: Secret Wars.

"It's a special thing, because Tom and Owen, they have a real connection on screen,...

From A Rick And Morty Overload To Robert Downey Jr.'s Return - Charting The Multiverse Saga's Wild Evolution
Image
2018's Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse was first to show the potential of the Multiverse in a superhero movie. So, in the wake of Avengers: Endgame's time-travel hijinks, the majority of us were fully on board with Marvel Studios' "Multiverse Saga" plans.

The past few years have been plagued by ups and downs, not to mention the small matters of a global pandemic and Hollywood strikes. For Marvel Studios, it's been a period of great upheaval as the studio that could once do no wrong suddenly faced the wrath of critics and fans.

The Multiverse Saga has evolved drastically, with both Avengers movies no longer close to what they were once meant to be. Along the way, we've seen an apparent Rick and Morty fandom come close to derailing the Saga, some questionable decisions, and a righting of the ship which has still somehow drawn a mixed response.

To look...

Exclusive: Eric Martin, head writer and executive producer for Loki Season 2, will join Tobias Weymar in producing I’m Not a Robot, a feature adaptation of rising Dutch filmmaker Victoria Warmerdam’s Oscar-qualified short of the same name, through their production company, Rearview Pictures.

As her day spirals out of control, she desperately searches for answers in a darkly comedic exploration of identity and self-perception.

The film’s festival run has also seen it secure wins at Cannes Lions and multiple Oscar-qualifying festivals, including Bengaluru, Leuven, and Flickerfest, as well as Bucheon. Wandavision Head Writer Breaks Silence On Scarlet Witch's Divisive Story Arc In Doctor Strange Sequel
Image
For a time, it looked like Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige was putting all his eggs in a Rick & Morty-shaped basket. He tapped a number of writers from that series to work on the Multiverse Saga, including Jeff Loveness and Michael Waldron.

The former penned Ant-Man and The Wasp: Quantumania before being hired for Avengers: The Kang Dynasty, while Waldron was Head Writer on Loki before writing Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness and Avengers: Secret Wars.

Feige had so much faith in Waldron that he teamed with him for a Star Wars movie that never happened and even got him to replace Loveness on The Kang Dynasty. However, things have since changed and Waldron's time in the MCU appears to be over.

Despite Loki receiving widespread critical acclaim, it's believed season 2 Head Writer Eric Martin played a much bigger role in that first batch of episodes than originally reported.

Bel-Air Season 3 Soundtrack Guide: Every Song & When They Play
Image
Warning! This article contains Spoilers for Bel-Air season 3.

The reimagined version of the 1990s sitcom The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air, Bel-Air, has a notable, diverse soundtrack that adds to the story, characters, and atmosphere. Bel-Air takes the characters viewers know and love from the Will Smith original series and gives them a twist in a darker, grittier, more dramatic version of Fresh Prince. Both shows have the same basic premise, but Bel-Air made multiple changes to The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air.

Bel-Air season 3 follows Will, Carlton, the rest of the Banks family, and their friends as they go on their first summer vacation since Will moved to Bel Air. This provides new energy, as the characters have a fun summer away from school, but that doesnt mean Bel-Air season 3 is without drama. Bel-Air season 2 ended with the DJ Jazzy Jeff and Will Smith song, Summertime, setting the stage for...

Mr. Big Unveil New Song and Video “Up on You”: Stream
Image
Mr. Big have released the video for “Up on You” — the second single from their forthcoming album Ten, out July 12th.

The track is an accomplished hard-rock strutter bolstered by crystal-clear production and the ace performances typical of Mr. Big. The band has some fun with a descending scale and some pop flare in the chorus, while singer Eric Martin exercises his impressive vocal range throughout the track.

Meanwhile, the music video lets us in on a Mr. Big concert staple — the ol’ “Switcheroo” — where the band trade instruments at the end of the set. In the case of this clip, all four members of the band are seen playing each instrument and singing.

As Martin explained: “I’m on bass, Billy sings, Nick plays guitar and Paul rocks the drums… it’s a lot of fun and the crowd goes wild. So the concept for the video was simple:...

10 Marvel Movie Villains Who Achieved Redemption
Image
Marvel movie villains achieving redemption bring depth to the story of their superhero movies and franchises. Characters undergo sacrifice and atonement for their past actions, gaining redemption in the process. For some of the McU's sympathetic villains, their redemption arcs end in selfless acts.

Marvel movie villains that have achieved redemption are often the most compelling. Marvel movies are no strangers to sympathetic villains, thanks in no small part to the source material they adapt. This can often lead to significant redemption arcs for the villains that, more often than not, fly in the face of being evil for evil's sake. From Sam Raimi's Spider-Man movies to the entire MCU, this has led to a plethora of Marvel movie villains being as iconic as the rivals they are pitted against.

All those who found redemption may have started with decidedly nefarious motives (or fell into them later in...

Mr. Big have announced their 10th studio album, simply titled Ten, which arrives July 12th.

The hard rock vets also offered up lead single “Good Luck Trying.” The song is built around a strutting blues riff from guitarist Paul Gilbert and unfurls at a fast pace. If the verses carry a heavy Led Zeppelin vibe, then the slowed-down chorus is more Bad Company, opening up space for frontman Eric Martin’s strong vocal delivery.

“Overall, it’s about being overwhelmed with life, and realizing that you won’t win many of the battles, but still fighting to the end,” stated Gilbert on the lyrics. “And keeping a sense of humor about it by saying to anyone nearby, ‘Wish me good luck trying!'”

Ten was produced by Jay Ruston and Mr. Big. The band’s lineup features Martin, Gilbert, and Billy Sheehan alongside drummer Nick D’Virgilio,...

According to trusted insider Daniel Richtman (via X), Magneto is not expected to be the main villain in Marvel Studios' forthcoming X-Men reboot. Instead, Mister Sinister is the current top choice to antagonize the beloved mutant team. Loki Showrunner Shares Cutting Response to the Show's Negative Criticisms
Image
Loki's two-season run wrapped up with a cathartic, climactic finale, and showrunner Eric Martin says he hopes everyone, especially the critics, appreciated every episode of the series.

Martin admits he doesn't know what's next for Loki in the MCU, now that the character's redemption story is complete. "I actually don't know what the overall story is going to be. Things are so siloed off," he said in an interview with Esquire. Martin did not offer false hope the show would have a third season, which is likely a good thing considering the series’ cathartic ending. He did say they tried their best to lay a solid foundation for future spin-offs or tie-ins. "I hope that we've been good teammates and created fertile ground for other things. The goal is to make it so good that the rest of the MCU comes to you," he affirmed.

What Made the Marvels Bomb in the Box Office?
Image
The Marvels has featured a lot of backlash online for its story and its lead character, Captain Marvel. The film focuses on three female heroes and some members of the Marvel fandom have found this to be too much to handle. While the movie does have valid criticisms, the online discourse may have helped to fuel its box office downfall.

Months before its release, The Marvels divided fans as many people expressed their disapproval of the movie. Since her casting, there have been some fans who have disliked Brie Larson as Captain Marvel, even before her first onscreen appearance. These feelings have only grown for these select fans. They were determined that The Marvels would show audiences that the film was a step down in quality and storytelling. A more reasonable part of the MCU fandom claims that The Marvels never stood a chance because of misogynistic views against strong female protagonists.

Disney Boss Bob Iger Admits Studios Makes Too Many Sequels

Disney CEO Bob Iger believes the studio has been straying away from originality too much as various sequels, including from the Marvel Cinematic Universe, continue to underwhelm at the box office.

Speaking at the New York Times' DealBook Summit, Iger addressed the box-office slump this year for his company, which includes the struggles of multiple MCU titles and Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny. While the Disney boss doesn't want to "apologize" for making follow-up films, he believes the lack of originality poses problems for the studio, especially if there's no purpose to them other than moneymaking. “I don’t want to apologize for making sequels. Some of them have done extraordinarily well, and they’ve been good films, too," he said. "I think there has to be a reason to make them, you have to have a good story. And often the story doesn’t hold up to...

Following the infamous MCU anti-hero as he deals with time slipping through Marvel universe history and the looming specter of the death of the multiverse, Loki season 2 also introduces a new Kang variant, played once more by Jonathan Majors.

Loki's Ke Huy Quan Explains Why He Loved Playing His Character O.B.
Image
Academy Award-winning actor Ke Huy Quan spoke about his love for McU's Ouroboros (O.B.) and his enthusiasm for playing the character in the recently concluded second season of Disney+'s Loki.

Quan discussed the character extensively in an interview with Marvel.com, revealing O.B.'s most remarkable qualities, "His enthusiasm. Here's this character that's worked at the basement of the Tva for more than 400 years by himself," he said. "No sleep, has zero connection with anybody, except that brief encounter with Mobius when he was lost, and he didn't even want to be there. Yet, when we see him for the first time, he's so happy to see someone and be a part of the team," the actor added. O.B. inspires Quan because he loves his job, "He loves writing the guidebook. That is something that really inspires me because I think that's how we should be when we—you know,...

Loki Producer Would Love to Do a Better Call Saul-Style Spinoff
Image
A Better Call Saul-type spinoff could be on the cards after the gripping Loki Season 2 finale.

While Loki executive producer Kevin Wright poured cold water on the hopes of a Loki Season 3, he hopes that his team of writers, as well as directors Justin Benson and Aaron Moorhead, could stay together, expanding on the world within Loki. "I know Eric Martin [Loki Season 2 head writer] kind of repeated this," he said to Phase Zero. "We did treat this like a closing of the book. Season 1 [was] one chapter, Season 2 [was] another chapter. It felt right [to end here]. I will say this: I love this world, I love these characters. I would love to continue telling stories with Sylvie and the Tva, obviously. I would love to tell more Loki stories if that becomes a possibility. But more so, I would love to continue to work with this team that made these two seasons of this show."

Loki Season 2 Interview: Tom Hiddleston Reflects On Loki's 14 Year Arc & Relationship With Thor
Image
Loki's character arc in the second season is brought to a close as he saves the Tva and all timelines, showing his growth and taking on a position of power. Tom Hiddleston drew inspiration from T.S. Eliot's Four Quartets, which explores themes of time, reality, purpose, and confronting the past, shaping Loki's story. The relationship between Loki and Thor is complex and would result in an interesting conversation as they have both changed and grown over time.

The second season of Loki seems to bring the Asgardian's arc within the MCU to a close. After spending the entire season trying to save his friends and the timeline from the multiverse war that He Who Remains warned him about, Loki finds an unexpected solution in a selfless act that shows how much he has grown. Saving the Tva and not only the sacred timelines, but the other timelines as well.

‘Loki’ Co-Star Ke Huy Quan on How ‘The Goonies’ Inspired His Character and Tom Hiddleston’s Acting Advice
Image
Spoiler Alert: This story includes discussion of major plot developments on “Loki,” which is currently streaming on Disney+.

Roughly 20 minutes after the news broke that the 118-day SAG-AFTRA strike had concluded, the first email I received from an actor’s publicist was for Ke Huy Quan. That’s how enthusiastic the recent Oscar-winning star of “Everything Everywhere All at Once” was to talk about his role on “Loki,” the Marvel Studios series for Disney+ that just wrapped up its second season. When he signs on to our Zoom chat for the interview, his face is beaming.

“I’ve waited a long time to talk about ‘Loki,’” he says. “Like, talking to you right now gives me a lot of joy.”

Quan plays Ouroboros, or “Ob,” the head (and seemingly the sole employee) of the Repairs and Advancement Department of the Time Variance Authority — basically, the one person responsible for keeping the Tva’s machinery running.

Loki's Fate Was Teased Early On
Image
Loki's Season 2 Finale transformed the character into a new and more powerful type of God. While shocking to many, this transition for Loki was set up over a decade ago in the MCU. Loki's growth and many small but key moments prove how important of a character he is in the larger MCU.

The following contains spoilers for Loki Season 2, Episode 6, "Glorious Purpose," which is now streaming on Disney+.

The Marvel Cinematic Universe might have just turned out its best Disney+ streaming series. Loki is one of the first shows from Marvel Studios to gain a second season. Although the likes of What If...? and potentially She-Hulk: Attorney at Law will receive the same treatment, this was a massive test for the Disney-owned brand to see if they could follow on from the success of the initial season. With a slightly different creative team in place, it's arguable that...

The reveal of Mobius' previous occupation as a jet ski salesman, done in an unexpected and fulfilling way, satisfies fan expectations and deepens the connection between the character and his affinity for jet skis.

Loki's second season marks a pivotal point in the dynamic realm of serialized television, distinguished by its sophisticated narrative and profound character growth. This season, viewers were finally treated to a much-anticipated exploration of Mobius' backstory, a character portrayed by Owen Wilson. The character of Mobius has been fundamental in the series right from its inception, providing staunch support to Tom Hiddleston's Loki. The...

Loki head writer on the God of Mischief’s new MCU role after the season 2 finale
Image
Major Spoilers for Loki season 2 finale. Well over a decade after Loki’s introduction in Thor, the Asgardian’s tale has come to an end… or has it?

The recent finale of Loki found the character destroying the Time Loom and rejuvenating the dying branches into a new structure resembling Yggdrasil. He then accepts his role as God Loki, overseeing all the branches in solitude at the end of time. Loki head writer Eric Martin spoke with Deadline about the character’s new role in the Marvel Cinematic Universe and the road it took to bring him there.

“Going into Season 2, it felt like an opportunity to bring gravity to the series to step up a level, because we marched up the line and got to the man behind the curtain and the stakes got extremely high at the end of the season. Let’s keep climbing. Let’s keep building that,...

The Making Of The ‘Loki’ Season 2 Finale: Evolving Tom Hiddleston’s Character & Setting The Stage For A Multiversal War
Image
Spoiler Alert: This post contains details from the Season 2 finale of Loki.

The Season 2 finale of Loki wove together more than a decade of character development for Tom Hiddleston’s titular character.

As the episodes title indicates, the God of Mischief finally fulfills his glorious purpose by taking on the ultimate burden in order to save his friends, as well as everyone who has ever existed.

When Loki realizes that the Temporal Loom will never be able to safely hold all the branches of time, it doesn’t take long for him to understand what he must do. The final moments of the episode see Loki using his own powers to revive and hold together all the branches of time at the citadel at the end of time.

He is no longer just the God of Mischief. He is the God of Stories … his own and everyone else’s.

To Save the MCU, Marvel Needs to Destroy It — or Maybe Just Make More Things Like ‘Loki’
Image
Spoiler Alert: This story discusses major plot developments in Season 2, Episode 6 of “Loki,” currently streaming on Disney+, and “The Marvels,” currently playing in theaters.

For the past few months, I’ve been talking with some of my friends and colleagues about a radical idea that’s been bouncing around in my head that I haven’t been able to shake: The only way Marvel Studios can save the MCU is to destroy it.

It’s become something of a national pastime of late to obsess over the perceived unraveling of the Marvel Cinematic Universe. The box office failure of “The Marvels” — which just suffered through the worst opening weekend in the MCU’s history — is simply the latest indignity. For the past two years, media outlets across the internet have covered with relentless detail all the creative missteps, internal conflicts, external scandals, and outright failures that have bedeviled Marvel Studios,...

Loki Season 2 Finale Makes a Connection to Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania

Loki's second season concludes with an enthralling finale, linking its story to the broader MCU and aligning with Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania, reintroducing Kang the Conqueror. The transformation of the Tva, shifting from strict control over the timeline to a more nurturing approach towards the multiverse, is exemplified by the alteration of the time loom. The success of Loki in establishing Kang and He Who Remains as formidable antagonists is praised by fans, as it reveals a thoughtful approach to character development and adds depth and complexity to the narrative.

The MCU Predicted the Loki Finale 12 Years Ago
Image
This article contains spoilers

Things have come full circle, as Loki season two has bowed out in style, becoming its own ouroboros back to the events of season one – even boasting the same episode title as its premiere. However, for those paying close attention to the Tom Hiddleston-led series, the ultimate fate of the trickster god was teased even further back.

While the Marvel Cinematic Universe has always been praised for its foreshadowing, often setting up characters and movies years in advance, did anyone really expect that Loki’s season two swansong was predicted all the way back in Marvel’s 2011 outings Thor and Captain America: The First Avenger?

In November 10’s “Glorious Purpose”, we learned that the God of Mischief’s own ‘glorious purpose’ was to take over from He Who Remains, sitting on the throne in the Citadel at the End of Time. It was a popular theory among fans,...

Does Marvel's Loki Season 2 Finale Leave Room For Season 3?
Image
Warning: This article contains spoilers for the season 2 finale of "Loki."

Burdened with glorious purpose, indeed. The messy, frantic, but constantly entertaining second season of "Loki" came to a thrilling close last night ... and probably not in a way that anyone could've expected. After spending almost an entire season building up the importance of Victor Timely (Jonathan Majors) and emphasizing their mission to fix the finicky temporal loom, the finale all but threw those red herrings out the window in favor of a much more character-focused and deeply satisfying conclusion to Loki's (Tom Hiddleston) emotional quest to find meaning. After realizing that he could opt for another way around He Who Remains' false dichotomy from last season's cliffhanger, which suggested that either the timelines remain under the Time Variance Authority's prune-happy control forever or devolve into complete and utter chaos, Loki made the ultimate sacrifice to essentially become the loom himself.

Loki Season 2 Episode 6 Finale Review: Yggdrasil
Image
This review contains spoilers

You may recall that the first ever episode of Loki was called “Glorious Purpose”, and so is the last, coming full circle as the God of Mischief finally evolves into the God of Stories. For everyone else, the possibilities are now infinite, but for Loki there is now just one life to lead: sat upon a throne, just as he once coveted, alone forever. I am not okay.

For all the predictions we threw around about how this series would end, I doubt many saw all this coming, and it feels both refreshing and heartbreaking. The episode does, however, explore some of the other directions the story could have gone, giving Loki the opportunity to kill Sylvie or somehow succeed in fixing the loom. It also includes a rather expected reveal that He Who Remains has been playing 5D chess with Loki the entire season, but...

Loki Season 2 Writer Discusses MCU Plans for Kang the Conqueror
Image
Although Kang the Conqueror is set to be the next major villain in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, Loki Season 2 hasn't focused on his future.

Speaking to ComicBook, writer Eric Martin said he is unaware of Kang's exact role in the MCU as Phase Five continues. "Well, I'm not sure [of] plans going forward, that's a greater Marvel decision for me," he said. Instead, Martin's team focused on Kang's variant, Victor Timely, and his impact on the story. "It was like, 'Okay, let's see a different version of this. What is the surprising thing with Victor Timely?' And I think you go there expecting this powerful villainous person, and instead, you find somebody that's a bit of a huckster, but you know what? He knows what he's doing. He's just born in the wrong time. And I think there's just a lot of interesting character stuff in there. So, it...

Loki Showrunner Hopes to Work on the McU's X-Men Reboot
Image
While details for the Children of the Atom's Marvel Cinematic Universe debut are scarce, Loki Season 2 showrunner Eric Martin has shared his interest in working on the X-Men reboot.

Martin discussed this in an interview with Total Film, commenting, "I think everybody's probably chasing after X-Men because I think that's where the richest characters are. But I mean, who knows? That's a decision for someone who's not me. As long as Marvel is happy, of course, I'd love to [work on more MCU projects]. I mean, Marvel has changed my life by trusting me to write [Loki Season 2.] It was a lot of responsibility, and I hope I've earned that trust."

X-Men: What Went Wrong With Wolverine and Kitty Pryde's Reunion?

"I think, for me, it all comes down to the characters," he continued. "Do we have deep, interesting characters to work on? That's what gets me out of bed in the morning.

How The Song For Loki Season 2 Episode 5's Sylvie Music Scene Was Chosen Explained By Head Writer
Image
Warning: Spoilers lie ahead for Loki season 2, episode 5, "Science/Fiction"!

The song "Oh! Sweet Nuthin'" by The Velvet Underground was chosen for Sylvie's music scene in Loki season 2, episode 5 based on the directing duo's vision and vibe they wanted to create. The Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) has shifted away from using licensed music in its titles, but the success of scenes like the one in Loki and the Guardians of the Galaxy movies suggests a return to licensed music could have a powerful impact. While composed tracks like the Avengers theme and Loki's theme song are iconic, there is still room for licensed music to enhance the atmosphere and emotion of scenes in MCU projects like the Blade reboot and Deadpool 3.

Proving to be one of the most harrowing moments of the season's penultimate episode, Eric Martin explains how the song was chosen for Loki season 2, episode 5's Sylvie music scene.

Loki Season 2 explored more of the inner workings of the Tva like never before. Episode 4 unpacked more of the relationship between He Who Remains and Ravonna Renslayer, indicating that they worked together to win the Multiversal War.

Loki Theory Secretly Makes Season 1's Infinity Stones Insult Even Deeper - With Official Response
Image
The theory that Casey's past as a thief connects to his hoarding of Infinity Stones in Loki season 1 is not intentionally true, but the head writer finds it hilarious. Loki season 2 delves deeper into the backstories of its characters, revealing connections between their Tva roles and their real lives. Eric Martin, the head writer of Loki, appreciates the humor behind Casey potentially being a kleptomaniac who unknowingly steals Tva artifacts.

Loki season 2's head writer, Eric Martin, has responded to an intriguing theory that makes season 1's Infinity Stone inclusion deeper than it was initially presented. Martin took the reins for Loki season 2 from Michael Waldron after serving as a staff writer during the first season. As such, this allowed Martin to delve deeper into the heart of the Tva, something evident by the climactic ending of Loki season 2, episode 5.

Why Loki Won't Use His New Powers To Undo His Endgame Death
Image
Loki's new time-slipping superpower allows him to change past events and affect his own timeline without creating a variant or branch, giving him unprecedented power over the MCU timeline. While Loki theoretically could use this power to undo his death in Avengers: Endgame and change the events of the Infinity Saga, it wouldn't make narrative sense and would betray the character's growth and newfound purpose. By undoing his own death, Loki would risk erasing the family and friendships he has finally found, as well as his acceptance of the consequences of his actions, making it unlikely that he will use his new power in this way.

Warning: This article contains Spoilers for Loki season 2 episode 5The penultimate episode of Loki season 2 introduced a new superpower to Tom Hiddleston's God Of Mischief that could be the McU's most powerful yet. But Loki probably won't use that new superpower, which...
