Only two episodes remain until Season 2 of NCIS: Sydney ends, and this time, the Afp and NCIS team will have to face their biggest adversary yet — Australian wildlife. This episode is the first half of the show's Season finale, and unlike the previous episodes, this team is no longer in Sydney.
In the next episode, the NCIS/Afp team will fly to Darwin to investigate the death of a U.S. soldier, which occurred during a joint training exercise between U.S. and Australian troops. Unfortunately, due to the heat and weather, the military and our agents will succumb to "Mango Madness," a colloquial term Australians use to describe erratic behavior during hot and tropical weather. In addition, since the investigation is no longer in the big city, they also have to face the wildlife, like crocodiles.

[Warning: The below contains Major spoilers for the NCIS: Sydney Season 2 premiere “Heart Starter.”] All it took was Mackey (Olivia Swann) almost losing her job for her to open up on NCIS: Sydney. Last we saw, it looked like Rankin (Lewis Fitz-Gerald) was involved in the kidnapping of J.D.’s (Todd Lasance) son. But, it turns out, he’s just another piece; his pacemaker was really so someone could listen in and it was hacked, putting him in a coma. He’s the only one who can give them any information, and they’re now stuck waiting for him to wake up (while the world thinks he’s dead). Meanwhile, Mackey reveals to Jd while both are on the outs with their agencies that she has an almost 18-year-old son who lives with her mom. In the end, Mackey and Jd do keep their jobs; the assassin (Georgina Haig) whom the latter had let go to trade for...

Once Upon a Time adapted many Disney fairy tales, from princesses to villains and everything in between, always with a fun twist on the characters fans thought they knew. After three seasons of drawing from classics, Once Upon a Time turned to Disney's most recent hit movie and brought Frozen's Elsa and Anna into the show. Elsa initially seems to be the antagonist to the Once Upon a Time's Charming family, but the show involves another character, their Aunt Ingrid (Elizabeth Mitchell), who also has ice-based powers, to be the real villain of season 4A.
By season 4, Once Upon a Time had adapted many Disney princesses, yet the show's live-action Elsa (Georgina Haig) and Anna (Elizabeth Lail) are exactly like their movie origins. However, while Frozen was a phenomenon as a film, translating it into Once Upon a Time was not as successful. Elsa and Anna's inclusion felt awkward to fans of the show,...

Earlier this year, the acclaimed horror movie Late Night with the Devil became a hit at the box office. After its subsequent release on Shudder, the film is now finding even more success upon being made available to stream on Hulu.
Per Screen Rant, Late Night with the Devil is currently ranked at No. 4 on Hulu's Top 15 Movies list. It's currently falling behind The Beast Within, Don't Turn Out the Lights, and Road Diary. However, it's sitting above the horror flick Smile, which now has a sequel that's playing in theaters. If Disney ever makes a live-action Frozen, there’s one major Hollywood starlet who’s already jumping to play the role! Find out who!
It seems only a matter of time before Frozen joins the list of live-action adaptations of Disney animated hits. True, it’s only been a bit over a decade since the film came out but it’s been one of Disney’s all-time greatest successes with its now iconic songs and a huge merchandise seller to boot.
The movie did inspire a stage show at California Adventure as well as a Broadway musical with stage productions still running. It also got a shot in live-action on the ABC hit Once Upon a Time with Georgina Haig and Elisabeth Lali as Anna and Elsa appearing in the fourth season.
With a third film in the works, it appears inevitable that Disney might decide to make a live-action version.

Late Night With The Devil has broken records on Shudder, becoming the most watched release on the platform. The movie overtook the previous record-holders When Evil Lurks and V/H/S/99. The movie's success, with rave reviews and approval from Stephen King, hints at a potential sequel in the future.
Late Night With The Devil crosses a major streaming milestone for the streaming service Shudder. Written and directed by the duo of Colin and Cameron Cairnes, the independent supernatural horror movie centers on a 1977 live television broadcast where an over-eager late night talk show host, in an attempt to boost ratings, unknowingly unleashes evil into the living rooms of unsuspecting viewers. Prior to its theatrical release, Late Night With The Devil reviews were overwhelmingly positive from both critics and other notable figures, including Stephen King, which in turn translated into commercial success for the horror flick.

David Dastmalchian was raised in a religious household where “everything was ‘the Devil’s work’” and he was constantly told not to open myself up to anything evil that could come in. “Fast-forward to me as a grown-up and I’m telling my wife not to order a cursed Ouija board off the Internet,” the actor notes. He’s also hosted seances, been published in “Fangoria,” penned the graphic novel series “Count Crowley: Reluctant Midnight Monster Hunter” for Dark Horse Comics and served as the brand ambassador for a line of caskets.
And, of course, starred in the hottest horror movie of the year as the lead in “Late Night With the Devil.” The indie feature from brothers Cameron and Colin Cairns was released by IFC in theaters, where it’s already made a robust $10 million. And as of today, it’s available to stream on the horror network Shudder.

Late Night with the Devil has earned about $666K at the box office for Sunday, a number that's especially bizarre given the horror movie's plot.
An indie horror flick starring David Dastmalchian (The Suicide Squad), Late Night with the Devil arrived in theaters following high praise from Stephen King and a 100% Rotten Tomatoes score with its early reviews. For the weekend box office, the film landed in the No. 6 spot, but what's most peculiar is the total it pulled in on Sunday. Per Variety, Late Night with the Devil made $2.8 million for the weekend, with $666,666 of that earned on Sunday. It's a record-breaking haul for the film, which sets the new record as the best opening weekend for an IFC Films release, surpassing the $826.7K haul pulled in by Watcher in 2022.

Being an avid fan of “old school” horror, I try to keep an open mind to the newer films, even the “sub-genres”. One of those is the “found footage” chiller that probably established itself with its biggest hit The Blair Witch Project. It opened the floodgates for jittery, shakey phony home video slightly “tweaked” via software trickery. The multiplexes are so bombarded that I almost dread a new one. Oh, but an Aussie filmmaking duo has come up with a new “twist’ that keys right into another bit of nostalgia: classic TV not from the “golden age’ of the 50s, but the often “schlocky” stuff of the 70s. Plus it’s not from daytime or prime time (8 to 11 Pm Est). I mean what kid 47 years ago wouldn’t try to sneak downstairs to the massive 19-inch console TV, sit close to the screen so you can keep the volume low...

Warning: The following article fully spoils the plot of “Late Night With the Devil.” Read on if you dare.
In “Late Night With the Devil,” David Dastmalchian plays ’70s late night host Jack Delroy, who tries to salvage his show’s falling ratings with a desperate stunt: Getting a possessed teenager to channel the devil on live TV.
In the found-footage movie, we see the doomed broadcast and “never before seen” behind-the-scenes shots as things begin to deteriorate onstage and off.
On Halloween night, he invites Lilly D’Abo (Ingrid Torelli), a girl who was rescued from a satanic cult, and her medium and handler June Ross-Mitchell (Laura Gordon), along with a psychic and a skeptic.

Q&a’s are a staple of indie opening weekends since they tend to sell tickets but Bob and Jeanne Berney’s Picturehouse has raised that bar, offering audiences seven-minute live burlesque revues before selected screenings of documentary Carol Doda Topless At The Condor. The ode to the woman, and to 1960s San Francisco where she broke out topless, opens in limited release in New York, LA, San Francisco and San Rafael. Dancers in what Bob Berney called a “Doda-esqe burlesque” will not be topless,” he said — “but pretty close.”
Dancers start in the audience then move to the front of the theater against a specially designed backdrop of image and sound on screen. “It brings you into that world immediately. You are there before the film starts,” he said.
“Eventizing” a film is great if you can do it. The box office is much better but still a bit weird since Covid.

Ahead of the acclaimed horror flick’s arrival later this month, check out the full-length trailer for Late Night With The Devil.
There are plenty of reasons why we’re fully on board for the upcoming horror flick, Late Night With The Devil.
It has a retro 1970s feel that looks incredible. It also has the wonderful David Dastmalchian (who often appears in smaller but memorable roles) getting a leading role. Then there’s the festival buzz which has been very strong indeed. Oh, and there’s also the fact that horror hasn’t really found its feet yet here in 2024.
Whilst it wasn’t terrible, Night Swim didn’t have anywhere near the same impact that Blumhouse’s traditional year-opening horror has in the past, and we feel like we’re waiting for the first truly rousing chiller of the year to get the cinematic scares up and running.

Whilst it wasn’t terrible, Night Swim didn’t have anywhere near the same impact that Blumhouse’s traditional year-opening horror has in the past, and we feel like we’re waiting for the first truly rousing chiller of the year to get the cinematic scares up and running.

[Warning: The below contains Major spoilers for the NCIS: Sydney Season 1 finale, “Blonde Ambition.”] Would you go as far as Jd (Todd Lasance) did to get his son back? The Australian Federal Police (Afp) sergeant made a decision in the NCIS: Sydney finale that has to come back to haunt the team at some point. After his son was kidnapped — by a clown at his birthday party (a.k.a. nightmare fuel) — Jd chose to go along with the demands: a swap of a wanted criminal the team had been after all season. He also trusted “Ana” with a gun, which, after using to kill the kidnapper, she then turned on him. She did leave Jd alive, but she took his keys and the kidnapper’s gun and escaped. But Jd doesn’t regret any of what he did, given his son is alive — ...

With Part 1 of its freshman finale, NCIS: Sydney uncorked quite the callback, by revealing that the “pregnant” woman who nearly got Mackey, Evie, Blue and dozens of others suffocated to death in an old bunker was in fact the blonde spy who eluded capture at the end of the series’ pilot.
Yet while it might seem as if Special Agent Mackey (Olivia Swann), Sergeant Jim “Jd” Dempsey (Todd Lasance) et al now have the upper hand, the abduction of Jd’s son Jack, in Part 2 of the finale (airing Tuesday at 8/7c on CBS), will thoroughly and harrowingly complicate matters.

“It’s like a double-edged sword,” coming into a franchise like NCIS, says Sydney star Todd Lasance. “You’re coming in going, oh, you’re part of this amazing franchise. It’s been running forever, and that’s incredible. You feel you’re part of the family, but then two minutes later, you’re like, oh, I hope we don’t stuff this up. I hope that people switch on and then come along for the ride and respond to the characters,” he continues. That’s why he’s glad that the first international version has been a hit. And NCIS: Sydney shows no signs of slowing down, ending its eight-episode first season with a finale that puts Lasance’s Jd right at the center when his son is kidnapped — and in order to get him back, he’d have to swap the criminal that the team had been after...

Rumors of a live-action Frozen remake have sparked a debate on social media about who should play Elsa and Anna. Suggestions for Elsa include Anya Taylor-Joy, Sadie Sink, and Perrie Edwards, while Anna suggestions include Anna Kendrick and Brittany Snow. Some believe that the actresses who portrayed Elsa and Anna in Once Upon a Time, Georgina Haig and Elizabeth Lall, should reprise their roles in a live-action remake. Others prefer unknown actors for the roles.
Rumors of a live-action Frozen remake incite fervent opinions on Elsa and Anna's casting. In Disney’s 2013 hit Frozen and follow-up Frozen II, sisters Elsa and Anna are voiced by Idina Menzel and Kristen Bell, respectively. Menzel and Bell contribute their vocal talents to some of Frozen’s most iconic songs, including “Let It Go,” “Love is an Open Door,” and “Into the Unknown.”

Frozen fan art imagines what Elsa might look like in live-action. The character, voiced by Idina Menzel, is the Queen of Arendelle, who was taught to keep her magical ice powers secret throughout her early life. Elsa has appeared in the sequel Frozen II, a variety of short films, and was previously portrayed by Georgina Haig in a live-action alternate universe throughout season 4 of ABC's Once Upon a Time.

Having a premiere at SXSW last year turned out to be a charm for directing duo The Daniels, and although awards lightning most likely won’t strike this year for this somewhat niche horror pastiche, hopefully its creators — Australian double-act the Cairnes brothers — will get their own media moment as a result. That Late Night With the Devil is one for the myriad genre festivals that abound internationally is a no-brainer, but the Cairneses deserve a bit more consideration than that for their film’s wry engagement with U.S. history and pop culture, despite shooting their New York-set film entirely in Melbourne.

Some new Frozen 2 fan art has surfaced this week and it gives us an idea of how Suicide Squad star Margot Robbie could look if she was cast as a live-action version of Elsa. Not that there are any real plans for a live-action adaptation of the hit animated film, mind you, but it doesn’t hurt to take a look at what could be one day should Disney decide to give it a go. Which, judging by their recent track record, they just might.
In any case, as you can see in the gallery below, The Wolf of Wall Street star is well suited for the role and this piece nicely compliments the one we got of Emilia Clarke as Elsa the other month. Indeed, it’s not like the Mouse House would be hard-pressed to find someone to play the part should they ever decide to pursue a live-action adaptation,...

Some new Frozen 2 fan art has imagined what Games of Thrones star Emilia Clarke might look like as a live-action version of Elsa, incorporating the imagery of her slinky new dress and juxtaposing the blue of her ice powers with crimson flames set by the salamander fire spirit.
The artwork was posted to the Twitter feed of Carlos Gzz, an artist who frequently produces such images, imagining various actors and singers as characters from animation and video games. And after seeing Frozen 2, he was inspired by Elsa being seen with her hair loose and flowing while riding a kelpie, which reminded him of Daenerys Targaryen astride a Dothraki steed. And so, he decided to combine the two.

Tori Garrett on the set of ‘Secret Bridesmaids’ Business’.
Director Tori Garrett is waiting for the local television sector’s answer to Phoebe Waller-Bridge to emerge and achieve the same mainstream breakthrough for female, protagonist-driven drama.

Garrett returned to Australia from the UK in 2011, with the vision to direct drama. Her early influences were forged over a decade of working in London and Europe across eclectic projects at MTV, Channel 4, Filmfour and E4.
