There werewolf is one of the monsters that seems to be building in popularity right now, especially with Hemlock Grove and Teen Wolf gaining fans in the teen market. In movies there are plenty of classics to pick your favourite from, mine would be American Werewolf in London. With films like Dog Soldiers and now WolfCop, the werewolf is back to being fun. Now with the release of low-budget Werewolf Rising, is this another win for fans of the lycanthropic ones?

When Emma (Melissa Carnell) returns to her country home after spending years in the big city she soon catches the unwanted attention of old family friend Wayne Dobbs (Brian Berry) and his nephew Johnny Lee (Matt Copko). When Johnny Lee is attacked by a wolf it’s...

Humans Versus Zombies and Two Broken Pieces: A Movie Review
*here be spoilers.

Director: Brian T. Jaynes.

Writers: Brian T. Jaynes, and Devan Sagliani.

Cast: Dora Madison Burge, Melissa Carnell and Frederic Doss

Humans Versus Zombies is a film based on a role playing game played on college campuses. The game involves Nerf guns, marshmallows and zombies chasing survivors. Rumour has it that the survivors have never won. The film version of the game is written and directed by Brian T. Jaynes who is notorious to this reviewer for creating the abysmal and 28Dla Worst Film entry Boggy Creek. Jaynes seems to be making improvements in his photography here; however, his storytelling still lacks tension and the story for Humans Versus Zombies is uncompelling. Maybe viewers would be best off playing the game rather than watching the film.

The story is simple enough. Several college students play Humans Versus Zombies on their college campus. Then, after the H1N1 is released,...

The film was shot in Pittsburg, Texas, and stars Madison Burge ("Friday Night Lights"), Melissa Carnell (Boggy Creek, Savage County), Frederic Doss (Cut), and Chip Joslin.

Boggy Creek and Learning to Turn the Tension Dial to 10: A Movie Review
Director: Brian T. Jaynes.

Writer: Bryan T. Jaynes and Jennifer Minar.

There have been many films created about a legendary monster spotted in and around Texarkana. The creature has been called the Fourke Monster, but here the hairy villain will be known more simply as bigfoot or the Sasquatch. There have been at least three other Boggy Creek films beginning in 1972 and this reviewer admits to not seeing any of the previous films (The Legend of Boggy Creek, Return to Boggy Creek). Boggy Creek, starring Texas Battle ("Death Valley"), Melissa Carnell (Humans Versus Zombies), Julin (Sweatshop) and Denise Williamson (Spirit Camp), in a very under the radar release in this series as Hannover House did not promote the September 13th release on DVD at all. The lack of tension in a supposed horror movie explains why there was little fan fare.

'Savage County' Guest Blog 3: Meet the Cast
Jeff Pope, Jimmy Crothswait, Patrick Cox, and Ivy Mclemore in Savage County (2010)
In advance of the world premiere of his new slasher flick "Savage County" on MTV2 tonight, October 7, at 11 p.m. (10 p.m. Central), director David Harris has been guest-blogging on MTV News to share some thoughts on making the film. He talked about marketing the movie on Tuesday, offered up some horror-movie-making tips yesterday, and today he introduces the up-and-coming cast (like Ana Ayora, pictured to the right).

It's pretty rare for a horror movie to get an Academy Award, and even rarer for that award to go to the cast. (Quick Quiz: Which actors have won Academy Awards for horror movies? Answers at the bottom.)

Even actors who love horror movies have to look elsewhere for their field's top accolades. But horror has been a launching ground for a lot of famous names before they were famous names: Johnny Depp ("Nightmare on Elm Street"), Jennifer Anniston ("Leprechaun"), Mischa Barton...

Boggy Creek Dusts off an Ancient Legend
Boggy Creek is definitely not a remake of 1972, as Julin (Spirit Camp) tells 28Dla.com, but an original feature that is the first to show the Caddaja. The Caddaja is an ancient creature from the ancient Caddo culture, that likes human flesh. Julin, who appears as Kay O'Brien in the feature, also states that the film was shot in the north-east of Texas near Louisiana. Lots of swamps here. Also, director Brian T. Jaynes sums up the plot of the film succintly: "it's a thriller that centers around a story of five young kids who get caught out in a swamp in Boggy Creek, Texas" and "we painted our own version of Sasquatch." The Bigfoot could really use a revamp. So, check out some of these pictures of Julin, the set, and her co-star Cory Hart as Dustin O'Brien.

Boggy Creek Principal Photography Now Underway
Is it a remake or not? That seems to be the question surrounding Boggy Creek , a low budget creature feature by Brian T. Jaynes. Principal photography has commenced on the film which stars Texas Battle ( Wrong Turn 2 ), Melissa Carnell, Stephanie Honore, Damon Lipari and Shavon Kirksey. Early reports stated it was a redo of the '72 The Legend of Boggy Creek by Charles B. Pierce. But Jaynes says it's only similar in themes. "It's a thriller that centers around a story of five young kids who get caught out in a swamp in Boggy Creek, Texas," he tells the Marshall News Messenger from the set in Uncertain, Texas. "They end up crossing paths with an ancient evil creature that lives in the swamp." He adds that this is his own version of Sasquatch that's...
