The Naughty Nine Interview: Alberto Belli & Winslow Figley On Bringing Action Adventure To Christmas
Image
The Naughty Nine is a blended genre holiday film that combines elements of a heist movie, a Western, and a superhero story while maintaining its integrity as a Christmas movie. Director Alberto Belli successfully balances the film's tone by creating a setting that feels Christmasy, caring about the characters' success, and incorporating action and adventure. Winslow Figley's charismatic portrayal of Andy, the leader of the heist team, brings charm and likability to a character who could otherwise be seen as a jerk.

The Naughty Nine follows Andy, a mischevious fifth grader who wakes up Christmas morning only to discover no presents from Santa, indicating he has been placed on the naughty list. Feeling unfairly judged, he puts together a heist team made up of others on the naughty list to steal the presents that they feel they are owed. However, the crew soon sees that the best way off the...

Disney's The Naughty Nine Director and Star Get Into the Christmas Spirit
Image
For just about any kid who hopes for a visit from Santa Claus, being put on the "naughty list" is the ultimate fear. But for these nine children, that only inspires them to pull off the greatest heist in North Pole history. This is the basis for the Disney Channel’s upcoming Christmas movie, The Naughty Nine.

The movie stars Winslow Fegley as Andy, a kid who is, by all accounts, too smart for his own good. When he wakes up one morning to find that Santa stood him up, he decides to take matters into his own hands. He puts together a team of equally outraged fellow naughty-listers: his best friend Dulce (Camila Rodriguez), tech wiz Lewis (Anthony Joo), animal whisperer Rose (Clara Stack), disguise expert Jon Anthony (Deric McCabe), “innocent” Albert (Ayden Elijah), and getaway driver Ha-Yoon (Imogen Cohen). Andy's sister Laurel (Madilyn Kellam) also joins in the hijinks,...

However, in the latest episode of the Disney+ series from Jessica Gao, the show makes the deepest cut to date and pulls out one of the most obtuse characters in all of the Marvel Universe and utilizes him in an absolutely hilarious way.

While Jennifer Walters is off at her high school friend's wedding, Nikki Ramos and Mallory Book are left to deal with a superhuman divorce case. Pour one out for “68 Whiskey.”

Blending drama with humor, “68 Whiskey” followed a multicultural band of Army medics stationed in Afghanistan on a base nicknamed “The Orphanage.” Together, the medics navigate a dangerous and sometimes absurd world, relying on comradery, various vices, and occasionally a profound sense of purpose to carry them through. ‘68 Whiskey’ Canceled By Paramount Network After One Season
Image
Exclusive: Paramount Network has opted not to pick up a second season of comedic drama 68 Whiskey, an adaptation of the Israeli TV series Charlie Golf One.

The show, from Imagine Television Studios and CBS TV Studios, was well received with a 88% fresh Rotten Tomatoes rating. It also got off to a strong TV ratings start, with the January 15 premiere drawing 2 million viewers in Live+3 Nielsen numbers to mark the most-watched cable drama series premiere in the metric since November 2018. Following the promising premiere the ratings slipped, however, and overall the series ranked outside of the Top 100 in total viewers, adults 18-49 and 25-54 year-to-date (Live+3).

68 Whiskey‘s cancellation leaves powerhouse Yellowstone as Paramount Network’s only current original scripted series. The net’s dramedy Emily In Paris recently relocated to Netflix. Paramount Network earlier this year gave a series order to drama Coyote starring Michael Chiklis.

Based on the blockbuster success of Yellowstone,...

Paramount Network said that the premiere of its 68 Whiskey on Wednesday, January 15 drew 2 million viewers in Live+3 Nielsen numbers. The network today said time-shifted viewing saw double- and triple-digit ratings increases compared with the dramedy’s Live+Same Day ratings.

The first episode of the scripted series from Imagine Television Studios and CBS Television Studios was the most-watched cable drama series premiere in the metric since November 2018. In the adults 18-49 demo, for example, the rating grew 102% compared with its L+Sd number to a 0.67.

Adapted from the Israeli series Charlie Golf One, 68 Whiskey follows a band of Army medics stationed in Afghanistan on a base nicknamed The Orphanage. Together, they navigate a dangerous and sometimes absurd world, relying on camaraderie, various vices, and, occasionally, a profound sense of purpose to carry them through. Sam Keeley, Jeremy Tardy, Gage Golightly, Cristina Rodlo, Beth Riesgraf, Lamont Thompson, Nicholas Coombe and Derek Theler star.

68 Whiskey: Trailer and Release Date for Paramount Military Dramedy Series
Joseph Baxter Nov 25, 2019

Ron Howard and Brian Grazer’s Paramount Network series, 68 Whiskey, will manifest as a military dramedy.

68 Whiskey is ready to make its mark as the next blue-chip television offering on the rebranded-from-Spike-tv and still-burgeoning Paramount Network, set as the first original series to accompany its hit drama, Yellowstone.

The series, an Americanized adaptation of Israeli television offering Charlie Golf One, is a modern military dramedy that arrives under the auspices of executive producers in Ron Howard and Brian Grazer. Of course, 68 Whiskey will immediately evoke the memory of M*A*S*H., since, like that classic series, it centers on the daily travails (and hijinks) of military combat medics – in this case stationed in Afghanistan. Imagine Television Studios and CBS Television Studios are producing the series.

American Gods Season 2 Episode 6 Review: Donar the Great
On American Gods, the only thing that can kill a God is another God, but the only thing that truly kills a God is lack of believers.

This American Gods review contains spoilers.

American Gods Season 2 Episode 6

It's hard to see the true person behind the character being played by Wednesday. He talks fast, he's charming, he's glib, and he’s funny. But behind that mask of humor is a core of what seems to be actual pain, as Odin's time in America isn't without trouble and loss. Granted, it's trouble of his own making, but at the same time, the Allfather's experiences as an actual father have brought him significant pain, as explicitly shown during “Donar the Great” and hinted at in previous episodes.

Wednesday's past as a burlesque leader named Al Grimnir is an amusing nod to both one of Odin's many names (Grimnir) and Ian McShane's most famous non-Lovejoy character,...

Marvel's New Warriors: Freeform TV Show Looking for a New Home
It seems Squirrel Girl is out of her tree, at least temporarily. Although they picked up the 10-episode first season of Marvel's New Warriors TV show back in April of 2017, Freeform has now cancelled its order for the half-hour live-action superhero comedy. THR reports that since Freeform has declined to move forward with New Warriors, Marvel is shopping the series to other outlets in preparation for a 2018 release. Marvel's New Warriors centers on "...six young people learning to cope with their abilities in a world where bad guys can be as terrifying as bad dates." The last we heard, the cast includes Milana Vayntrub as Doreen Green a.k.a Squirrel Girl; Derek Theler as Craig Hollis a.k.a Mister Immortal; Jeremy Tardy as Dwayne Taylor a.k.a Night Thrasher; Calum Worthy as Robbie Baldwin a.k.a Speedball; Matthew Moy as Zack Smith...

Marvel's New Warriors Series is Looking For a New Home Now That it's No Longer Airing on Freeform
Marvel's has been developing a series adaptation of their comic New Warriors and it was originally set to air on Freeform. That's all changed now. The series will no longer air on Freeform and according to THR, Marvel is now trying to find a new home for it.

Apparently, Freeform couldn't seem to find a slot in their schedule for next year to fit the show into. Marvel has screened the pilot episode for test audiences already and according to the report, it's testing through the roof and has caught the attention of high-level Disney executives. That's a good sign! Dan Buckley, president of Marvel Entertainment said:

"We are extremely excited about Marvel’s New Warriors and look forward to finding the perfect partner to launch the series with in 2018.

According to inside sources, Disney isn't letting Marvel shop the project around to networks outside of the Disney organization, which...

Keith David Has Joined Marvel's New Warriors Series!
Legendary character actor Keith David has joined the cast of Marvel's upcoming series New Warriors! This will reunite David with showrunner Kevin Biegel. They worked together on the 2014 series Enlisted.

According to THR, David will take on the role of Ernest Vigman, "a caustic municipal employee who butts up against the hopeful energy of the new warriors." This will be a reoccurring role in the series. I'm such a huge fan of David and his work whose film career pretty much started with John Carpenter's The Thing.

David will join Milana Vayntrub (This Is Us) as Squirrel Girl; Derek Theler (Baby Daddy) as Mister Immortal; Jeremy Tardy (Dear White People) as Night Thrasher; Calum Worthy (Austin and Ally) as Speedball; Matthew Moy (Two Brok Girls) as Microbe; Kate Comer as Debrii.
