Everyone knows how I felt about Netflix’s Little House on the Prairie reboot when it was first announced. The long and short of it being, “why are they trying to ruin my childhood?”

I grew up on the original Little House on the Prairie. It was part of my childhood. It wasn’t easy to imagine anything being as wonderful as it was

However, the latest casting and news have me rethinking my skepticism, and maybe there is room for a different take on Laura Ingalls Wilder’s books.

Initially, the Ingalls Family casting news didn’t sell me. The girls were the best part of it, and I wish they had hired more well-known actors for Charles and Caroline.

Maybe it’s me, but I hadn’t heard of Luke Bracey or Crosby Fitzgerald before.

Netflix is rebooting the classic series Little House on the Prairie, which first ran from 1974 to 1983, and per Deadline, seven more actors have just been added to the cast of the revival series. Among those cast in recurring roles in Netflix’s Little House on the Prairie is Barrett Doss, who starred in ABC’s Station 19 from 2018 to 2024.

Additionally, Mary Holland,Michael Hough,Kowen Cadorath (SkyMed),Thosh Collins,Maclean Fish (Shoresy),and Rebecca Amzallag (Titans)were also cast in recurring roles in the new series.

Doss Will Run the Town’s General Store

Doss is set to play Emily Henderson, whose people and number skills land her a job running the General Store. She also takes in an orphan boy named Caleb, who wanders into town. Caleb will be played by Cadorath and is described as a “skinny, prairie handsome pre-teen who has been orphaned and doesn’t say much.

A little over a year after ABC’s Station 19, created by Stacy McKee, aired its final episode, one of its main stars has landed her first small-screen role since then. Barrett Doss is that star, and she has been tapped to appear in the upcoming Little House on the Prairie reboot from Netflix. Set in Seattle, Station 19 is the second spin-off of Grey's Anatomy, after Private Practice, and focuses on the lives of the heroic men and women at Seattle Fire Station 19. The procedural ran from March 22, 2018, to May 30, 2024, comprising seven seasons and 105 episodes.

According to Deadline, Doss will recur as Emily Henderson, a charming woman who is great at interacting with people and handling numbers, which enables her to run the General Store. The Ingalls family is returning to television in the form of a new Netflix series, which will reboot the classic Little House on the Prairie,which ran from 1974 to 1983. The original show chronicled the lives of the family in the 19th-century American Midwest, featuring Ma and Pa Ingalls and their three daughters, Mary, Laura, and Carrie. However, with recent casting announcements for the reboot, fans were left wondering why the role of the youngest Ingalls, Carrie, has not been cast yet.

A fan asked TVLine if Carrie Ingalls was being “retconned out of existence in Netflix’s Little House on the Prairie reboot.” It turns out that there is a simple answer to why the part of Carrie isn’t anywhere to be found. TVLine stated that sources close to the Netflix reboot stated, “When the series opens, Carrie (played on the Og series by Lindsay and Sidney Greenbush) simply has not been born yet.

Netflix wants to get lost in a classic sci-fi adventure series from the 1970s. The streamer has closed a deal with Legendary Television for a new Land of the Lost remake.

Rejoice, Little House on the Prairie fans. You might never think a reboot of the hit 1970s series starring Michael Landon would be worth watching, but Netflix will make a run at it.

Netflix’s Little House on the Prairie is moving quickly to fill out its core cast.

On the heels of announcing Alice Halsey will play Laura Ingalls in the series, the streamer has cast Luke Bracey, Crosby Fitzgerald and Skywalker Hughes as other members of the Ingalls family.

Bracey (Elvis, Little Fires Everywhere) will play Charles Ingalls, the family’s patriarch. Fitzgerald (Palm Royale) is set to play Caroline, Charles’ wife and the mother of older daughter Mary, who will be played by Skywalker Hughes (Joe Pickett), and Laura.

CBS Studios and Anonymous Content Studio are producing Little House, which is based on Laura Ingalls Wilder’s semi-autobiographical novels. The books previously formed the basis for a 1974-83 series that starred Melissa Gilbert as Laura, Michael Landon as Charles, Karen Grassle as Caroline and Melissa Sue Anderson as Mary. Landon also executive produced the earlier series and directed dozens of episodes.

The show was first announced with a series pickup in January. The logline states, “Part hopeful family drama, part epic survival tale, and part origin story of the American West, this fresh adaptation of Laura Ingalls Wilder’s iconic semi-autobiographical ‘Little House’ books offers a kaleidoscopic view of the struggles and triumphs of those who shaped the frontier.”

Exclusive: Netflix’s Little House on the Prairie has assembled the new incarnation of the beloved Ingalls family. Luke Bracey (Elvis) and Crosby Fitzgerald (Palm Royale) have been cast as the parents, Charles Ingalls and Caroline Ingalls while Skywalker Hughes (Joe Pickett) is set to play their eldest daughter, Mary Ingalls. The trio join Alice Halsey who has landed the role of the Ingalls’ second daughter and series’ narrator Laura.

Described as part hopeful family drama, part epic survival tale, and part origin story of the American West, the new adaptation of Laura Ingalls Wilder’s classic semi-autobiographical novels comes from showrunner Rebecca Sonnenshine and CBS Studios. It picks up the story when the Ingalls have two daughters, Mary and Laura.

Michael Landon starred as Charles and executive produced the 1974 series, in which Caroline was played by Karen Grassle and Mary by Melissa Sue Anderson.

Netflix's Little House on the Prairie has cast its first stars, who will play the Ingalls family. Loosely based on the beloved books by Laura Ingalls Wilder, the original TV series ran for nine seasons on NBC from 1974 to 1983, following the Ingalls family who live on a farm in the Midwest during the late 1800s. In January 2025, it was announced that Netflix had ordered a Little House on the Prairie reboot with Rebecca Sonnenshine acting as executive producer and showrunner.

Netflix is revisiting the iconic Little House books by Laura Ingalls Wilder with a new adaptation of Little House on the Prairie. The books have sold more than 73 million copies, and the upcoming series reflects the continued interest in the world Wilder created back in the 1930s.

Netflix’s “Little House on the Prairie” series has found its Laura in Alice Halsey.

Halsey, who has previously appeared in “Lessons in Chemistry,” “Days of Our Lives” and “Night Court,” will star as Laura Ingalls Wilder, who wrote the semi-autobiographical “Little House” books, and serve as the audiences window into life on the frontier.

Additionally, Luke Bracey (“Elvis”) and Crosby Fitzgerald (“Palm Royale”) have been cast as Charles and Caroline Ingalls, respectively, while Skywalker Hughes (“Joe Pickett”) joins the cast as Mary Ingalls.
