HBO has unveiled that its original Hollywood satire series “The Franchise” debuts on its linear channel and Max Oct. 6 at 10 p.m Et. The premiere episode of “The Franchise” is directed by Oscar-winner Sam Mendes.

According to the official logline, “‘The Franchise’ follows the crew of an unloved franchise movie fighting for their place in a savage and unruly cinematic universe. The comedy series shines a light on the secret chaos inside the world of superhero moviemaking, to ask the question — how exactly does the cinematic sausage get made? Because every f*ck-up has an origin story.”

Apple TV+’s debut German original drama Where’s Wanda? will launch globally on Wednesday, October 2.

The first two episodes will drop that day, followed by new episodes every Wednesday through to November 13.

The series was Apple’s first German scripted series order and the industry has been awaiting its launch, with some suggesting its success or otherwise will color how the global streamer approaches commissioning in the country going forwards. “The show has been in post for ages, and everyone is really hoping is does well when it launches,” a source in Germany told us this summer as part of our deep dive into German TV drama.

Picture Tree Intl. has secured global sales rights of Berlin comedy “Nightlife,” directed by Simon Verhoeven, following his last film “Welcome to Germany,” which was Germany’s comic relief to the refugee crisis. The film sold to more than 60 territories and screened at more than 50 festivals worldwide, while being the No.1 box office hit in Germany in 2016.

The German director is in Berlin shooting a new comedy toplined by Elyas M’Barek, Palina Rojinski and Frederick Lau. Production began last week in Berlin and the surrounding areas on Nightlife, a new film by Simon Verhoeven. Best known for having directed the box-office hit Men in the City and Welcome to Germany, a comedy about the refugee crisis, which in 2016 managed to attract more than 3.9 million viewers into the dark rooms and became the highest-grossing German-language film of the year, Verhoeven is now readying his sixth feature. Nightlife will follow Millo (Elyas M’Barek), a barkeeper, and Sunny (Palina Rojinski), a real Berliner, as they meet accidentally during a night out and decide to go on a date. Take That's Howard Donald to judge Germany's 'Got to Dance'
Howard Donald has been announced as a judge on Germany's version of Got to Dance.

The Take That singer has joined the upcoming German edition of the Sky dance competition series, along with Palina Rojinski and Nikeata Thompson.

The format was recently sold by Shine Limited to German station ProSiebenSat1 and VT3 in Vietnam.

Donald attended the launch of Germany's Got to Dance on Wednesday (April 24). He later tweeted that "the standard is very high".

Hosted by Johanna Klum, Got to Dance will air every week on Thursdays at 8.15pm on ProSieben, while the following episode will air a day later at 8.15pm on Sat.1.

Got To Dance will launch on Thursday, June 20.

In the UK, Got to Dance has recently finished its fourth series on Sky1, with 1.1 million viewers tuning in to watch the finale on March 17.
