Fraiser Season 2 Finale Review: Revival's Storytelling Shift Is A Risk That Has An Emotional Pay-Off
Image
Warning! Spoilers ahead for the Frasier season 2 finale.

The Frasier revival's season 2 finale wraps up a slightly improved sophomore year by sticking to its signature storytelling approach. It's no secret that when the Paramount+ reboot of the beloved sitcom was announced, it was met with a divisive response considering the risks of bringing it back. It didn't help that the majority of its original ensemble isn't involved, including David Hyde Pierce's Niles and Jane Leeves' Daphne. The Frasier season 1 finale effectively addressed the show's premise, which was about Frasier reconnecting with his son, Freddy. However, Paramount+ deemed that the series deserved at least another year.

Entertainment Weekly has now shared an exclusive clip from the upcoming Frasier season 2 episode "The Squash Courtship of Freddy's Father," which is set to premiere on Thursday, October 10. The clip sees Frasier meeting with his former agent Bebe Glazer (Harriet Sansom Harris) and her daughter Phoebe (Rachel Bloom). Kelsey Grammer Reveals Why Frasier Had To Return to This Familiar Setting in Season 2
Image
The Frasier reboot is back with its second season on Paramount Plus. Later this season, viewers will see Dr. Frasier Crane (Kelsey Grammer) return to Seattle, where the original series was set. For those who haven't kept up with Frasier following the original show's conclusion, the iconic television character now resides in Boston, where his character was first introduced during Cheers' third season. Frasier's visit to his native Seattle, which occurs in the October 31 episode "Thank You, Dr. Crane," paves the way for Peri Gilpin's Roz Doyle to have a more prominent role in the reboot. Now, while speaking with Parade Magazine, Frasier star and executive producer Grammer shared why the revival needed to return to this familiar setting:

"It has something to do with getting Roz to Boston because we had to have a reason for her to come back. An organic, good reason for her to come back,...

But then he calls to tell her that he is in fact ghosting her. All of that would be no big deal on its own, except for when Jessica McKenna tells her that the guy calling her died last night, per the latest issue of “Recent Deaths” magazine. ‘Party Over Here’ Shatters the Glass Ceiling for Female Comics (Video)
Party Over Here (2016)
“Party Over Here,” Fox’s new late-night sketch-comedy show, took on the issue of gender inequality in Hollywood on Saturday night. To go by what Nicole Byer, Alison Rich and Jessica McKenna had to say, it’s all a matter of keeping up appearances. The show stars took the stage and explained everything. “As women in comedy,” Rich said, “we’ve been getting a lot of questions about how we broke the glass ceiling and got our own TV show.” The reason was simple. Byer said: “We showed up to all our network meetings dressed like this.” The trio then introduced a backdrop of a.

‘Party Over Here’ Review: Fox’s New Late-Night Sketch Show Fizzles
Party Over Here (2016)
Near the start of the debut episode of their sketch show “Party Over Here,” stars Nicole Byer, Jessica McKenna and Alison Rich appear on stage in front of a studio audience, proudly announcing the kickoff of their 25th season. It may be the funniest joke of the premiere — not because it’s a particularly hilarious bit but because it’s hard to imagine viewers giving this meager series that long of a run. Only mildly amusing and tending toward broad, obvious gags, this Fox late-night program, which is executive produced by the Lonely Island, could develop and grow in confidence over time.

Party Over Here: Will You RSVP for More of Fox's SNL Alternative?
Party Over Here (2016)
In a promo for Fox’s new sketch comedy program Party Over Here, executive producer Paul Scheer (The League) says he wanted to create a show “that felt like the live comedy that’s going on in New York.” Co-creator Andy Samberg probably should have informed him that there’s already a show like that, and Ariana Grande is currently hosting.

The Lonely Island's Party Over Here Is the Other Saturday Night Sketch Show You Need in Your Life
Party Over Here (2016)
If you think 11:30 p.m. is way too late for Saturday night sketch comedy to start, you're in luck. Fox's Party Over Here premieres this Saturday, and it's going to make the wait for Saturday Night Live just a little bit shorter by airing at 11 p.m., instead of 11:30. You're welcome, people with no patience! The half-hour sketch show comes from executive producers Paul Scheer and The Lonely Island, a.k.a. the guys who revolutionized SNL's digital shorts. It stars comedians Nicole Byer, Allison Rich, and Jessica McKenna in a combination of recorded video sketches and live audience bits. While Party Over Here may...

The Lonely Island Guys Are Getting a Saturday Sketch Comedy Show
Fox is moving back into the sketch comedy genre with a new series conceived by comedy troupe The Lonely Island and actor Paul Scheer.

The show, "Party Over Here," will air on Saturday nights at 11 p.m., and be produced by the Lonely Island trio -- Andy Samberg, Akiva Schaffer, and Jorma Taccone -- and Scheer. The four comedians won't star on the program, but Scheer (who currently stars on ABC sitcom "Fresh Off the Boat") will direct.

Instead, "Party Over Here" is led by an all-female cast, including Nicole Byer ("Girl Code"), Jessica McKenna (an alum of comedy troupes the Groundlings and Upright Citizens Brigade), and Alison Rich (a former "Saturday Night Live" writer). It's Fox's first foray into late-night sketch comedy since "MadTV" went off the air in 2009, after a 14-season run.

"When we first conceived this idea, we thought of it as a spinoff of 'Empire,'" said Samberg,...

I don't care what anyone says, this is the best Lonely Island moment
Andy Samberg
The Lonely Island, that ragtag trio of musically silly SNL alums Andy Samberg, Jorma Taccone, and Akiva Schaffer, is getting its own Fox sketch series entitled Party Over Here. Though the trio itself won't appear as regular cast members, they'll produce the show, which so far stars Jessica McKenna, Nicole Byer, and Alison Rich. It will air on Saturday nights, but it won't conflict with SNL since it's slated for an 11 p.m. slot.  This is all well and good, but more importantly, it's an opportunity for me to point out the single best moment in any Lonely Island video. You may have your preferences like Michael Bolton's tribute to Jack Sparrow or Justin Timberlake's special, phallic present, but I am telling you those are incorrect. The greatest moment in the Lonely Island oeuvre occurs at 0:45 in the following video, entitled "J*zz in my Pants."   The...

The Lonely Island Is Bringing More Sketch Comedy to Saturday Nights with Lorne Michaels' Blessing

The Lonely Island is getting back on the boat. There are (probably) not actually any boats involved, but the comedy/rap group, consisting of Andy Samberg, Jorma Taccone, and Akiva Schaffer, is getting back into the Saturday night sketch comedy game after several years away from Saturday Night Live. Along with The League's Paul Scheer, they're now executive producing a new half-hour sketch show for Fox called Party Over Here, starring comedians Nicole Byer, Jessica McKenna, and Alison Rich. The show will air on Saturday nights, but at 11 p.m., meaning it will air just before SNL starts at 11:30.  While some were reporting the new show as a rival to the reigning king of late night...

Fox Just Gave the Lonely Island Their Own SNL
Saturday Night Live (1975)
A decade after starting their TV careers at Saturday Night Live, the Lonely Island is getting a Saturday-night sketch show of their very own. The Hollywood Reporter writes that the comedy threesome will collaborate with Paul Scheer in producing a half-hour sketch comedy series for Fox called Party Over Here. The title comes from the name of the group's "development venture" with the network and also, possibly, "Whoomp! (There It Is)." None of the Lonely Island guys will be a part of the show's ensemble — which so far includes Nicole Byer, Jessica McKenna, and Alison Rich — nor will they be directly competing with SNL, as Poh will air at eleven. Still, if Lorne Michaels takes this news better than Johnny Carson did, we'll know late-night really is a nicer place.
