Out In Hollywood Releases 2024 Out Loud List Of Unproduced TV Pilot Scripts By Queer Writers

Queer advocacy group Out In Hollywood has released its fourth annual list of unproduced queer-focused television pilot scripts of the past year.

“Anti-trans, anti-drag, and anti-queer legislation are sadly on the rise, and we believe that by normalizing audiences’ understanding of people different from them, we can help foster greater acceptance and empathy,” founder Logan Kriete said.

The Out Loud List is created based on recommendations from the queer community in Hollywood. Scripts are evaluated based on criteria including the strength of the writer’s voice, viability of the project to be sold in today’s marketplace, conceptual freshness, and a modified version of GLAAD’s Vito-Russo Test (similar to the Bechdel Test).

For the first time, the writers were honored in person at Beyond Pride: The Future of Queer Television event.

NBCU Launch Welcomes 2024-25 Class Of NBC TV Writers Program

Exclusive: The annual NBC TV Writers Program from NBCU Launch is welcoming its 2024-25 class selected from a pool of 2,100 applicants: Bryce Cracknell, Domonic Diaz-Smith, Bixby Elliott, Helen Fernandez, Maia Henkin, Neda Jebelli, David Loong and Sebastián Rea.

NBCU Launch is the umbrella brand that houses the comprehensive inclusion efforts across NBCUniversal’s entertainment TV portfolio. The program was created to help develop emerging episodic TV writers whose distinct points of view and lived experiences provide unique perspectives to the writers’ room. It prepares writers to be staffed on scripted series with the long-term goal of developing the next generation of showrunners.

The NBC TV Writers Program includes talent from various socio-economic backgrounds, geographic locations, racial and ethnic backgrounds, people with disabilities, the LGBTQ+ community and veterans, among other communities.

NBC TV Writers Program Selects 8 For 2022-23 Class

Comedy writers Emman Sadorra and Ida Yazdi and drama writers Hernán Barangan, Aurora Ferlin, Amelia Swedeen, Varta Torossian, Tommar Wilson and William Yu have been selected for the 2022-23 class of the NBC TV Writers Program.

The program, formerly known as Writers on the Verge, was created in 2005 to prepare diverse, emerging writers for careers in television, The program is hosted by NBCU Launch , the umbrella brand that houses the diversity, equity and inclusion efforts across NBCU’s television portfolio.

The 2022-23 class of eight was chosen out of 2,100 applicants.

Over the next eight months, the new class will develop an original pilot under the guidance of NBCUniversal programming executives. They will also participate in weekly workshops that will include writing intensives, mock showrunner meetings and personal branding sessions.
