Stephen Cognetti
Stephen Cognetti has written and directed every entry in the Hell House LLC found footage horror franchise, which began in 2015 and currently consists of Hell House LLC, Hell House LLC II: The Abaddon Hotel, Hell House LLC III: Lake of Fire, and the recently released Hell House LLC Origins: The Carmichael Manor. In an interview last year, Cognetti said that while he wants to make more Hell House movies, he’s hoping to secure higher budgets and move away about from the found footage style for future installments… Now, he’s working on a new entry in the Hell House franchise, Hell House LLC: Lineage, which he has said might be the final (but scariest) chapter for this series, and this film has indeed ditched the found footage approach. Abaddon’s Final Nightmare Arrives with ‘Hell House LLC Lineage’
Image
The Hell House LLC saga steps out of found footage and into mainstream cinema this summer with the wide theatrical release of Hell House LLC Lineage on 20 August 2025. Iconic Events and Terror Films Releasing have partnered to bring this fifth and reportedly final chapter of Stephen Cognetti’s acclaimed horror franchise to screens across North America, including Regal, AMC, Cinemark and Alamo Drafthouse venues.

Hell House LLC Lineage follows documentary filmmaker Vanessa Shepard as she grapples with recurring visions decades after surviving a near-fatal incident at the cursed Abaddon Hotel. Settled in the town of Abaddon and haunted by nightmares, Shepard finds herself drawn into a web of grisly murders stretching back to the opening of Carmichael Manor. With each death echoing the hotel’s violent past, the link between the two sites and the string of brutal killings comes into sharp focus.

Horror Highlights: The Shrouds, 825 Forest Road, Popeye The Slayer Man
Image
The Shrouds: "In an eerie, deceptively placid near-future, a techno-entrepreneur named Karsh (Cassel) has developed a new software that will allow the bereaved to bear witness to the gradual decay of loved ones dead and buried in the earth. While Karsh is still reeling from the loss of his wife (Kruger) from cancer—and falling into a peculiar sexual relationship with his wife’s sister (also Kruger)—a spate of vandalized graves utilizing his “shroud” technology begins to put his enterprise at risk, leading him to uncover a potentially vast conspiracy. Written following the death of the director’s wife, the new film from David Cronenberg is both a profoundly personal reckoning with grief and a descent into noir-tinged dystopia, set in an ominous world of self-driving cars, data theft, and A.I. personal assistants. Offering Cronenberg’s customary balance of malevolence and wit, The Shrouds is a sly...

Supernatural Horror ‘825 Forest Road’ Lands at Blue Finch Films Ahead of AFM (Exclusive)
Image
U.K.-based Blue Finch Films has acquired worldwide rights to “825 Forest Road,” the latest supernatural horror feature from “Hell House LLC” creator Stephen Cognetti. The deal comes ahead of the film’s festival premiere planned for next year, with Blue Finch set to launch sales at the American Film Market (AFM) next month.

Watch the teaser for Stephen Cognetti's upcoming sequel Hell House LLC: Lineage
Image
Hell House LLC is the little horror movie that could, a gift that just keeps on giving. First shown at 2015’s Telluride Horror Show, it originally seemed like just another low-budget independent film with no known actors attached. It was written and directed by Stephen Cognetti, who was also an unknown quantity.

But, slowly and surely, Hell House LLC began to hit a sweet spot with horror fans, including yours truly. Back in 2016 or so, I was scrolling through the free horror movies on Prime, and the unusually positive reviews caught my eye, so I decided to give it a shot. And, boy was I glad I did! We seasoned horror fans know that it’s rare to find a film that genuinely creeps us out – heck, I can count on one hand all of the horror movies in the past ten years that have achieved that honor with me.
