"Low Low" premiere at Arclight Hollywood
Film Review: ‘Low Low’
"Low Low" premiere at Arclight Hollywood
Four teen girls teeter on the precipice of uncertain futures in Nick Richey’s debut feature, “Low Low,” as the budding auteur’s realistic style nicely complements the precise performances, giving each actor an empathetic path into her character’s psyche. While the narrative occasionally falters, the visceral way in which the writer-director captures his subjects’ triumphs and travails provides an unflinching portrait of modern teens on the fringes of society.

In the final days of high school, Ryan (Ali Richey) is understandably worried about graduating. There aren’t many prospects for a working-class teen in Vancouver, Wash.. Her troubled home life, beset by a contentious relationship with her single mom Sylvia (Elaine Hendrix) and her mom’s revolving door of slacker boyfriends, has caused her to act out — a rebellion fueled by angst, drugs and booze. Surprisingly, she’s managed to show great potential with her schoolwork, impressing her teacher Dr.

Check out an average day for a Power Ranger in this funny short
Much like Rita Repulsa's return to Earth, a new short film by Jay Diaz starring La native Noah Baron has emerged on YouTube which casts the actor/producer as the Green Ranger of Power Rangers fame. As the story plays out, Noah posits a question for the ages: What becomes of a Power Ranger once they are no longer needed to save the world? The answer? Not much ... or…...

Captain Planet Goes Live Action In Cool Fan-Made Trailer
The hero known as Captain Planet may be a bit too goofy to ever get a legitimate live-action movie of his own, but I'll be damned if this new fan-created trailer doesn't make me think that it could possibly be done. Directed by Jay Diaz, the trailer sees the Planeteers 10 years after being apart brought back together to save the world. Check it out! Sure, it looks a little bit like a series that would show on the CW, but it's still pretty cool nonetheless. If they ever plan on actually trying to make a Captain Planet movie, this would probably be the way to go. Though I still think that they may want to consider changing "heart" to something else (anything else, really). It should be noted that this isn't the only cool Captain Planet video that we've seen. Around this time last year Funny or Die enlisted the...

Captain Planet - Ridiculous and Fun Fan-Made Trailer
Last year it was announced that Cartoon Network would be developing a live-action feature film adaptation of Captain Planet. Not sure what the status is on that production, but a fan-made trailer for Captain Planet turned up online, and it gives us a look at how ridiculous a live action movie would actually be.

I was never a big fan of Captain Planet, I didn't really care for it as a kid. I know there are fans out there, I know it taught a good environmental message, but there was no entertainment value in it for me. The fan film was directed by Jay Diaz, and it was made for just fun, so just keep that in mind while watching it.

Yes, I'm sure the feature film version will have a bigger budget to do the effects properly, but it doesn't change the ridiculousness of the content. Check out the...

Check Out a Cool Fanmade Trailer for a Live-Action 'Captain Planet'
Shortly after word came last July that Cartoon Network and Transformers franchise producer Don Murphy and his Angry Filmworks production banner had announced development of a live-action feature film adaptation of the environmentally sound 90's cartoon series Captain Planet, the folks at Funny or Die took a stab at it with Don Cheadle as the green mulleted environmentalist hero. But now a more serious take on the hero has surfaced in the form of a fanmade trailer for a film that sees the Planeteers forced to call upon Captain Planet after ten years of being estranged. There are some great moments here, so watch it! Here's Jay Diaz's trailer for a live-action Captain Planet movie via ScreenRant: While it's not a mind-blowing piece of work, there are some phenomenal trailer moments, especially once the Planeteers combine their powers to summon Captain Planet. The shots for Earth and Fire are just spectacular,...
