Back in 2010, legendary producer Roger Corman and his wife/producing partner Julie Corman teamed up with the late director Declan O’Brien – who is best known for making several of the Wrong Turn sequels – to bring the world the creature feature Sharktopus, which is about exactly what it sounds like it would be about. A shark/octopus hybrid that goes on a man-eating binge. That film received two sequels, Sharktopus vs. Pteracuda and Sharktopus vs. Whalewolf… and now it has been given the remake treatment. When a rogue scientist discovers an immense egg in the dark recesses of a rainforest he thinks hes stumbled across his fame and fortune. But little does he know that it belongs to a terrifying hybrid monster, known only as the Piranhaconda (a moniker only mentioned once in the Entire film and dismissed as a stupid name!). Soon the beast is on the loose, hunting for its unborn child, rampaging through the country and destroying everything in its path in a mass of CGI-enhanced gory-glory.

A killer-creature B-movie from the Roger Corman staple, Piranhaconda is yet another made for Syfy TV movie suprisingly this one comes from director Jim Wynorski, who is well-known in the horror community for successfully mixing T&A and horror.

Brian Pulido, creator of the comic Lady Death and the feature film The Graves, is set to appear on Syfy’s "Foxy and Co.," a reality show showcasing the special effects makeup work of "Face Off" favorite Eric Fox and his team, tonight, March 18th, at 10Pm.

For the show Pulido directed a proof of concept short film entitled Zack the Zombie Exterminator, a horror/comedy about Zack Zander, an amiable redneck metal head with a talent for zombie-splatting who runs “Z-Gone", a family business that “disposes” of the undead.

Pulido and screenwriter Mike MacLean (Sharktopus, Piranhaconda) developed Zack for multiple entertainment platforms.

Piranha not got enough twists and turns for you? Anaconda lacking the requisite bite? Well, why not have the best of both worlds? From Mike MacLean, the writer of Sharktopus (Jaws not tentacley enough... etc.), and with Hollywood exploitation legend Roger Corman behind it, comes Piranhaconda. Somehow the movie passed us by when it aired on Syfy in June, but all 82 glorious minutes are coming to DVD on January 7, 2013. Unfortunately our own Stephanie Ogrodnik was unable to attend the Sdcc panel on Corman's latest production due to the egregious lines at the Hollywood-run convention, so instead, we've got you the poster! Corman's first ever 3d film is a quasi-remake of the horrendous 1958 film, and a quasi-remake-remake of the 1993 remake which starred Darryl Hannah. While I'm sure this will be as equally terrible, it's Kevin O'Neill's first feature, and he's done special effects on lots of big films, including the Pulse Franchise. It's also written by Mike MacLean, the man who penned Dinocroc vs Supergator, Sharktopus, and Piranhaconda. And, it's Corman .. we gotta support The Man. Roger Corman's Attack of the 50 Foot Cheerleader is heading to this year's San Diego Comic-Con, where Corman will introduce the Epix Original Movie at a 3D screening following the panel to be held on Saturday, July 14th.

The screening will be at 12:00 Midnight at the Gaslamp's Reading Cinemas. The movie will then premiere on August 25th at 10:00 pm Et on Epix.

In somewhat inevitable news, it stars the awesome Michael Madsen along with Rachel Hunter and is directed by Jim Wynorski.

Who is responsible for unleashing the half-piranha/half-anaconda on the unsuspecting masses? That would be writer Mike MacLean, who also penned Sharktopus and Dinocroc vs. Supergator for Syfy.

MacLean talked to Shock about writing creature features, working with Roger Corman, the differences between cable and theatrical movies, why comedy is a vital component of Syfy features, and more.

Roger Corman graced Syfy with a Sharktopus. For his foray into producing for the Epix network, the “King of the B’s” is busting out Attack of the 50-Foot Cheerleader (in 3D no less) and has assembled quite a cast for a movie about a giant cheerleader on a rampage.

Shockingly, Roger Corman did not produce the 1950’s cult classic Attack of the 50-Foot Woman or its 1990’s remake starring Daryl Hannah. He also had nothing to do with 1995’s Attack of the 60-Foot Centerfold; that was Fred Olen Ray’s homage. Now, at the ripe old age of 86 (and still kicking), Corman is finally getting a piece of the giant woman on the attack action with Attack of the 50-Foot Cheerleader.

In my review of Mega Shark vs. Crocosaurous (Feb. 23 of this year), I suggested the folks in charge of The Asylum watch some of Roger Corman's older films and take a few notes on how to make a great monster flick. I hope they had pen and paper handy when Sharktopus hit the Syfy Network, as their chief competition just showed them how it's done. A gleeful mix of one part monster, one part bathing suit clad victims, and a lot of "how can we top the last scene" effort shaken into the mix, the film became one of Syfy's biggest successes. All I can say is, I told you so, The Asylum.

That’s a question that’s never answered – most likely because the name sounds cool) for use by the Us military. However when the control system malfunctions and the “sharktopus” escapes during a training session, Rand, his daughter and their hired help – Flynn, a world-renowned former shark hunter no less (obviously) – must head off the popular tourist resort of Puerto Vallarta in Mexico to track down the man-hungry mutant killer before it causes havoc and starts to eat both the locals and holidaymakers. However Rand and co. are not the only ones after the beast – also hot on its tail are a scoop-hungry news reporter and her cameraman, and an obnoxious pirate...

                                                                                                           All of you who keep up with my effort in getting Crocaloctopus his own movie know this only feeds the fuel to the fire for me. There's hope, case in note master of the creature feature Roger Corman will lend his producing hand to director Jim Wynorski's Piranhaconda (1/2 piranha and 1/2 anaconda)from a script by Mike MacLean (Sharktopus).  Production begins next month in Hawaii with Diana Terranova attached to star. No word of which 80's or maybe 90's pop star will be cast this time. We'll have much more news on this soon!

You know what? I don’t care that the movie doesn’t start filming until February. What’s more, I don’t care that I haven’t read a plot synopsis that describes what, exactly, the picture is all about. I’m not even concerned that the cast hasn’t been selected yet, save for the lovely Diana Terranova, who is pictured below. Anchor Bay Entertainment seems to have the market on thrilling DVD and Blu-Ray releases, as they have announced that Sharktopus will debut March 15th, 2011. This film was produced by the notorious Roger Corman (Bloodfist VIII: Trained to Kill), who has been involved in over a hundred films. Sharktopus premiered on the SyFy channel and now a few more details are here.

The film involves a military experiment gone horribly wrong. Now an "an eight-tentacled nightmare" (Anchor Bay) is making lunch meat of sunbathers and holidayers. Have a look at the campy trailer below, along with the official artwork seen left.
