‘The Buccaneers’ Season 2 Soundtrack: From Griff To Sabrina Carpenter
Image
With its first season Apple TV+’s The Buccaneers made a name for itself with its focus on all women musicians featured in the show’s soundtrack, with needle drops like Taylor Swift’s “Nothing New,” Japanese Breakfast’s “Be Sweet,” Brandi Carlile’s “Broken Horses” and Bikini Kill’s “Rebel Girl” featured in the first season, to name a few. Swift’s “Nothing New” was used in the scene where Nan St. George (Kristine Frøseth) and her friends made their society debut, similar to the procession of Netflix’s Bridgerton in white dresses and feathers.

Later on in the first season, songs like “Kissing Lessons” by Lucy Dacus, “Cedar” by Gracie Abrams,” “Bite the Hand” by boygenius, “Want Want” by Maggie Rogers” and another Taylor Swift anthem, “Long Live” highlighted the high stakes of Nan’s decisions. Season 2 continues in the vein of mostly women artsits featured on the soundtrack.

David Byrne Shares Reflective New Song “She Explains Things to Me”
Image
David Byrne has unveiled the second single from his upcoming studio album, Who Is the Sky? Titled “She Explains Things to Me,” the new track finds Byrne exploring themes of gender, communication, and self-awareness, drawing inspiration from Rebecca Solnit’s seminal essay collection Men Explain Things to Me.

Produced by Grammy Award-winner Kid Harpoon and arranged by the chamber-pop ensemble Ghost Train Orchestra, the track features lush orchestration beneath Byrne’s introspective vocal delivery. Lyrically, it captures a narrator quietly confronting his own complicity in the ways men often diminish or overlook women’s voices. It’s subtle, self-critical, and unmistakably Byrne, merging thought-provoking storytelling with warm, artful instrumentation.

“She Explains Things to Me” follows lead single “Everybody Laughs,” and further showcases the layered emotional terrain of Who Is the Sky?, Byrne’s first album since 2018’s critically acclaimed American Utopia. Byrne’s latest material leans into personal reflection,...

All the Songs in ‘The Buccaneers’ Season 2
Image
“The Buccaneers” gives an edgy twist to the period drama. Taking notes from Netflix’s “Bridgerton,” the Apple TV+ series incorporates chart-topping pop hits to accompany its Gen Z take on the 1870s courtship.

In the second season of “The Buccaneers,” the American girls are no longer strangers in London’s high society. Nan (Kristine Froseth) is a duchess, and Conchita (Alisha Boe) is Lady Brightlingsea. Both of them are ushering in a new wave of American heiresses. All the while, Nan’s sister Jinny (Imogen Waterhouse) is on the run from her abusive husband with her child.

As more drama ensues for the Buccaneers, the American girls have a soundtrack to match. This season features a wide range of pop hits, including Chappell Roan’s certified platinum hit “Good Luck, Babe!” and a 2019 deep cut from Sabrina Carpenter. Other artists featured in the Apple TV+ original include Lauv, St. Vincent,...

‘The Bear’ Season 4 Soundtrack: From The Ronettes To Oasis
Image
FX’s The Bear Season 4 has been out for a week streaming on Hulu.

The series, which was renewed for a fifth season yesterday, has become known for its needle drops as well as its rotation of guest stars each season. While she didn’t have a song featured in Season 1, the show has come to include at least one Taylor Swift song since Season 2, because it wouldn’t be a heartfelt moment for Ebon Moss Bachrach’s Richie and his daughter without help from the songstress.

Season 2 of the show contained “Love Story” in the seventh episode, “Forks,” and Swift’s “Long Live” was featured in Season 3.

Find the full soundtrack to The Bear Season 4 — including songs from St. Vincent, Oasis, Van Morrison, Paul Simon, Bishop Briggs, The Ronettes, Pretenders and more.

‘The Bear’ Review: Season Four Slows Down but Still Finds Time for Some Beef
Image
Almost immediately, The Bear became known for its intensity, baking a story about grief into its rapid-fire depiction of food being made and characters shouting at one another. In retrospect, this version of The Bear more or less ended when Carmy (Jeremy Allen White) got himself locked in a walk-in freezer at the end of season two and seemed to forever drive away his on-again, off-again maybe girlfriend, Claire (Molly Gordon).

In season three, the series condensed much of its characters’ food-fueled acrimony into a charmingly distressing, cameo-filled sixth-episode flashback largely set around the Berzatto family table. Now, a parallel episode from season four, set at a wedding, culminates not with anyone driving a sedan into a living room, but with a daddy-daughter dance.

Like its characters, The Bear is trying to find a mellower way of being. Sure, the new season ends with a shouting match, and the Bear...

If I Were the Creator of ‘The Bear,’ I Wouldn’t Highlight What It Has in Common With ‘Groundhog Day’
Image
Warning: contains spoilers from Season Four of The Bear.

Recently, Joy Press of Vanity Fair interviewed John Landgraf, the Chairman of FX Networks. Landgraf has been an executive at the network for over 20 years, in which capacity he’s helped bring inarguably prestigious and impressively diverse shows to air — Shōgun to Atlanta to The Americans to Archer to The Bear, the fourth season of which dropped earlier this week. Though the show has been one of “FX on Hulu”’s biggest critical hits, some viewers (including me) felt like last season just spun its wheels, leaving most of its storylines unresolved in the finale.

When Press asks Landgraf about this, she writes, he “bristles” at the critique before responding, “This is a show about codependency and stuckness and the kinds of substitute obsessions and addictions that people have. … I understand that watching someone not move forward is a lot less...

The Bear season 4 episode 3 recap: Carmy finally rights a wrong
Image
After two great episodes to start the season, The Bear season 4 episode 3 opens with an epic Sydney-throwing-down-montage to "Fast Slow Dance" by St. Vincent. Stylistically, this is The Bear at its best! I love all the arguments as much as the next person, but The Bear does these beautiful montages better than any show on TV right now.

Carmy (Jeremy Allen White) tries the dish Sydney (Ayo Edebiri) just made, and he's in. In fact, he calls it perfect, and he tells her to put it up, meaning it's going on the menu today. While Syd is stoked for the praise, there's something more behind her eyes. It's obviously the guilt of all of those conversations with Shapiro about possibly leaving Carmy and The Bear.

Richie (Ebon Moss-Bachrach) has a phone call with Tiffany (Gillian Jacobs) about their daughter, but when she asks if Richie is coming to the wedding,...

One instance involves her ninth wedding with bride Charlotte (Louisa Jacobson) having doubts before, but ultimately overcoming them to get married with a pep talk from Lucy. At Charlotte’s wedding, Lucy meets Harry P (Pedro Pascal) who pursues her and lavishes her with luxury dinner dates, huge bouquets of red peonies and more

Also at the wedding, Lucy runs into her ex, John (Chris Evans), an aspiring actor and cater waiter, who she just can’t seem to shake fully. Japanese Breakfast, aka Michelle Zauner, wrote a new song for the film, which played in one of the trailers alongside Madonna’s “Material Girl.”

Apple TV+ lanza el primer tráiler de la temporada 2 de ‘The Buccaneers: Aristócratas por Amor’ al ritmo de ‘Good Luck, Babe!’.
Image

Image
It’s time to turn back the clock to the 1870s once more for another seductive season of “The Buccaneers.” The hit Apple TV+ series returns for Season 2 with more steamy trysts and socialite drama across its eight episodes.

As the logline teases, the trailer “reveals the next chapter for the young American Buccaneers — sisterhood, romance, wit, steamy love affairs, extravagant gowns, spectacular landscapes and jaw-dropping plot-twists,” which include the clash of Anglo-American cultures in London of the 1870s. “Now the Buccaneers are no longer the invaders — England is their home. In fact, they’re practically running the place,” the synopsis reads. “Nan is the Duchess of Tintagel, the most influential woman in the country. The Buccaneers are back. The Apple TV+ costume drama's second season is arriving this summer, and now there's a new trailer to whet your appetite. It teases what's to come in the season ahead, and also introduces new cast member Leighton Meester. Season two will premiere on June 18, with new episodes premiering weekly until the season finale on August 6.

To the strains of Chappell Roan's "Good Luck, Babe!," the trailer showcases newly-minted Duchess Nan (Kristine Froseth), who is adjusting to her new married life with Theo (Guy Remmers). Of course, she only married Theo to protect her sister Jinny (Imogen Waterhouse) from the cruel James (Barney Fishwick), but James is determined to hunt her down. As for Jinny, she's pregnant and on the run with her lover, Guy (Matthew Broome), who also happens to be Nan's ex-flame. 'The Bear' Season 4 Trailer Teases A Search For Calm
Image
This season on The Bear, Carmy is looking for calm. At least, that's what they're teasing in the newly released trailer for the FX and Hulu series' upcoming fourth season. We're not sure if he'll find it — he does work at a fine dining restaurant in Chicago, after all, and has absolutely not dealt with a lot of his issues — but we'll certainly be seated for another course from the most stressful comedy on television. Featuring the St. Vincent song "Fast Slow Disco," the clip tees up the potential for reconciliation, and the righting of wrongs between work families and, well, real families, too.

According to the series' official logline:

Season four finds the team pushing forward, determined not only to survive, but also to take The Bear to the next level. With new challenges around every corner, the team must adapt, adjust and overcome. The pursuit of excellence isn...

The Late Show with Stephen Colbert shuts down this week
Image
The Late Show with Stephen Colbert announced it twill be off the air this week. The hiatus leaves a noticeable gap in the late-night TV landscape.

Per usual, there was no shortage of stories breaking over the weekend that would pique Stephen Colbert's interest. Another bombshell report about Pete Hegseth, Joe Biden's criticism of Donald Trump, and more stories would all make nice monologue topics for The Late Show.

However, there will not be a new episode of The Late Show with Stephen Colbert on Monday, April 21. The show will be off the air for the rest of the week as well.

The Easter holiday on Sunday likely explains why Stephen Colbert and his team are off this week. The time off should give everyone at The Late Show the chance to rest and relax before getting back to the Ed Sullivan Theater next week.

Michael Keaton, Joan Baez, and Fred Armisen to Join John Mulaney’s Live Netflix Premiere
John Mulaney in Everybody's Live with John Mulaney (2025)
Netflix’s first-ever live talk show, Everybody’s Live with John Mulaney, will debut on March 12 with an eclectic lineup of guests. The series, which will run for 12 weeks through May 28, follows Mulaney’s previous Netflix experiment, John Mulaney Presents: Everybody’s in LA, a six-episode special that aired during the 2024 Netflix Is a Joke Festival. That series featured a mix of comedians, musicians, and subject matter experts, including Jerry Seinfeld, David Letterman, Pete Davidson, and St. Vincent.

Mulaney teased details of the show during Netflix’s January Next on Netflix event, emphasizing its unpredictable nature. “I think that this show will be something that people will want to tune into live,...

Michael Keaton Among First Guests for 'Everybody's Live With John Mulaney'
Image
Who could bring together Batman, famous comedians, finance journalists, and folk singers for a live talk show? Well, writer and comedian John Mulaney, of course. Mulaney's newest endeavor, Everybody's Live, will be Netflix's first-ever live talk show, so you know they had to pull out all the stops. The live comedy show, set to premiere on Netflix on March 12, 7 p.m. Pt, has recently released a sneak peek at its surprisingly eclectic guest list.

In the first episode of the first season of the live show, which has already been renewed for a second season according to Deadline, will feature an impressive guest lineup of actor Michael Keaton, American folk singer and activist Joan Baez, actor and comedian Fred Armisen, Cypress Hill and personal finance columnist Jessica Roy. Now that's an odd group that only the Spider-Ham voice actor could assemble. However, the list is not unusual for Mulaney's tastes,...

Where To Watch ‘SNL50: The Homecoming Concert’ if You Missed the Live Show
Image
“Saturday Night Live” is known for making audiences laugh for the past 50 years, but it is not complete without the iconic live music performances that have cemented their own place in pop culture.

“SNL50: The Homecoming Concert” brought together over 25 artists who made a mark on the sketch show live from Radio City Music Hall. The concert event features musical guests spanning the series’ half-century on the air.

Lady Gaga, Miley Cyrus, Snoop Dogg and The B-52s, among many others, performed live during the homecoming concert, while “SNL” alum Jimmy Fallon hosted, featuring his own late night show’s band, The Roots.

In late January, Ahmir “Questlove” Thompson helmed a documentary, “Ladies & Gentlemen … 50 Years of SNL Music,” that sifted through the archives of the show’s musical history. The NBC documentary featured several artists that took the stage at Radio City for the in-person anniversary special.

Years later, Lady Gaga is poking fun at those pesky rumors with an era-appropriate pop culture banger.

The 14-time Grammy winner joined Andy Samberg onstage Friday at Radio City Music Hall for SNL50: The Homecoming Concert, where they began performing her A Star Is Born track “Shallow” before deciding to do a selection more in Samberg’s “vocal range.”

“There is one song, but Justin [Timberlake’s] not here to do his parts,” he said, to which Gaga replied, “Andy, don’t be a b*tch. I’ll do it with you.”

The pair then launched into a performance of The Lonely Island’s “Dick in a Box” from the 2006 SNL Christmas episode.

How do you possibly follow Miley Cyrus and Bad Bunny during the SNL50: The Homecoming Concert? With a classic sketch character.

SNL alum Bill Murray graced the stage Friday at Radio City Music Hall in New York City as he reprised his smooth-talking character Nick the Lounge Singer (aka Nick Valentine) from the NBC sketch comedy show, accompanied by Paul Shaffer on piano.

Following a humorous monologue about “an increasing acceptance of different types of families, different types of relationships,” before introducing “three of the most beautiful ladies a man could ever hope to meet.”

Murray, who created the character during his 1977-1980 run as an SNL castmember, was then joined by fellow alums Ana Gasteyer, Maya Rudolph and Cecily Strong in ’60s chic backup singer attire, accompanying him with a performance of Marvin Gaye and Tammi Terrell’s “You’re All I Need to Get By.”

Grammys raised more than $24 million for wildfire disaster relief
Image
The Recording Academy, which dramatically retooled the run-up to the Grammys amid the Los Angeles-area wildfires and transformed Sunday’s ceremony into a tribute to victims and firefighters, has raised more than $24 million from those efforts, Variety reported. The Trevor Noah-hosted telecast alone raised $9 million.

While there was debate over whether the Grammys would even happen amid the fires, which killed 29 people and destroyed more than 15,000 homes, the Recording Academy decided to have the ceremony go on as scheduled. However, the organization did scale back Grammy Week, limiting it to the MusiCares Persons of the Year Charity Gala honoring the Grateful Dead on Jan. 31, the Special Merit Awards Ceremony and Grammy nominees reception on Feb. 1, Clive Davis and the Recording Academy’s pre-Grammy fundraising event on Feb. 1, and the Grammys main event on Feb. 2.
