"Promising a world of wonder where dreams come alive and imagination knows no bounds," the Magical Carnival is coming to town in Rick Remender and Paul Azaceta's new comic book series The Seasons (featuring coloring by Matheus Lopes), but as evidenced by the eerie first issue that was released today, there is an ominous undercurrent to the festive fair, and it's up to the Seasons sisters—in particular the youngest sister, Spring—to uncover and stop the whimsical horrors that threaten the town of New Gaulia and their fractured family. With The Seasons #1 now in stores, Daily Dead has an exclusive sneak peak at the second issue of The Seasons ahead of its February 26th release!

Throughout their decades of continuity, Marvel Comics has featured countless crossovers and globe-shattering events featuring thousands of characters from across their publishing line. Oftentimes, many these events are held in high regard, while every now and then, a handful of other crossovers just don’t land the way that creators – or fans – may have wanted.
So for every must-read Marvel Comics crossover, there are just as many stories that fans would be better off avoiding entirely. And readers will want as mnuch guidance as possible when it comes to finding the best and worst Marvel Comics crossover events.
Avoid: Avengers & X-Men: Axis By Rick Remender, Adam Kubert, Leinil Francis Yu, & more

Wolverine has been through countless battles, which have left lasting mental scars, and Marvel just made the bold decision to address the long-lasting issue of the adamantium-clawed hero’s mental health – yet sadly, it seems the publisher is making a promise it simply can't keep. Wolverine's healing arc ultimately sets up the X-Men for even greater disappointment and sends a mixed message to readers.
Uncanny X-Men #6 – written by Gail Simone, with art by Javier Garrón – features Rogue pushing Wolverine to accept his Ptsd, setting up an arc of healing and recovery. Addressing Wolverine’s mental health would be a new direction for the hero; however, it goes without saying that Marvel will not allow its most iconic X-Men superhero to go through a permanent drastic shift in character.

This issue was never not going to make the list. I choose it because it centres around Maverick but of course, it is a Wolverine story first and foremost. When I got into collecting Wolverine comics one of the things I wanted to learn about first was the history of Team X. In that regard this issue delivers as it alternates between the past and present. In te present Maverick has contracted the Legacy Virus and is attempting to trick Wolverine into killing him. The flashbacks reveal how Maverick would go to any lengths to complete a mission after Sabretooth has sabotaged their exit route. There are elements in this story that are touched upon in novels and cartoons that I had read before this issue, so to see it in comics was very cool.

The Avengers have been a staple in the Marvel Universe for decades, and the roster is constantly evolving - which is why it might be surprising to hear that I think the team was at its strongest under Magneto's unexpected leadership. It's hard to top a line-up like Loki, Doctor Doom, Enchantress, Carnage, and even more heavy-hitters, and I believe that the Master of Magnetism recruited the most powerful Avengers ever.
Avengers & X-Men: Axis #2 by Rick Remender and Andy Kubert is one of the tensest events I've read, as Magneto's rage-fueled murder of Red Skull allowed him to become Red Onslaught and begin using Charles Xavier's telepathic strength to spread worldwide hatred. As readers, we all witnessed many of the most talented Avengers and X-Men reduced to failed plans and inadequate powers.
Red Onslaught may have emerged victorious had Magneto not chosen that moment to rewrite the game.

And we thought "Avengers: Doomsday" bringing back Robert Downey Jr. was Marvel Studios hitting the red emergency button.
Now, it's confirmed that "Doomsday" will also feature the McU's second anchor lead: Chris Evans, last seen as Captain America back in 2019's "Avengers: Endgame."
Evan's post-Cap career hasn't exactly been envious. He was a riot in "Knives Out" and got some good buzz for the Apple TV+ mini-series "Defending Jacob," but since hanging up the shield he's mostly been in sloppy action movies like "The Gray Man," "Ghosted," and "Red One." Compare this to how his Bucky, Sebastian Stan, who is challenging himself with risky roles in films like "The Apprentice," or Chris Hemsworth giving the villain performance of the year as Dementus in "Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga," or Downey Jr. pulling in an Oscar for "Oppenheimer."

While Iron Man is perhaps the greatest hero in the MCU (and one of the greatest in Marvel Comics), there is a version of him that’s actually a villain, complete with an entire ‘evil Avengers’ team. In fact, not too long ago, many fans were convinced that this corrupt version of Iron Man was going to appear in the MCU. Given the level of outcry, it’s only a matter of time before the MCU brings this Iron Man into the fold for real, and when it does, it must include his ‘evil Avengers’.
The evil Iron Man in question is known as Superior Iron Man, which is what became of Tony Stark during Marvel Comics’ Axis event. In Avengers & X-Men: Axis, the Red Skull harnesses the power of Onslaught, and the Avengers and X-Men team up to take him down. When it became increasingly clear the heroes were going to lose,...

While Thaddeus “Thunderbolt” Ross, aka the Red Hulk, may hate the Hulk more than anything else in the world, transforming himself into a reflection of the Hulk, the Green Goliath isn’t his opposite. Ross is no different from the Hulk, frequently giving in to his anger and responding with brute force. However, the son of Mephisto once revealed Ross’s true opposite, and it’s amazingly insulting.
In Venom (2011)’s “Circle of Four” story arc, Red Hulk, Agent Venom, X-23, and Alejandra Jones’s Ghost Rider have teamed up to put down Blackheart and stop his hellish invasion of Earth. As the MCU slowly nears the release of Captain America: Brave New World, now is a better time than ever to familiarize oneself with Sam Wilsons Captain America. While the character has been around for nearly 60 years, his tenure as Captain America has been comparatively short but significantly more impactful. Despite the overwhelming and unjust critiques Wilson gets, he still serves as a perfect Captain America.
Sam Wilson has a significant amount of historical importance to Marvel Comics. Debuting just a year after Black Panther, the Falcon was Marvels second-ever black superhero. When Stan Lee first introduced Wilson, the prolific writer expressed a desire to keep his stories up to date with significant social movements.
Decades later, Sam Wilson serves a new purpose, showing people both on and off the page a different perspective of an American hero with their own unique struggles and dreams. But before readers can fully explore Captain Americas modern values,...

Hulk Is Marvel's New Iron Fist, With New Permanent Upgrade of Punch That Hits Like "15 Atomic Bombs"
Warning: Contains Spoilers for The Ultimates #6! The Hulk is already one of the strongest Avengers in the Marvel Universe, but fans havent seen anything that compares to his newest permanent upgrade, as the Hulk is the Ultimate Universes new Iron Fist. During this reveal, the Hulk single-handedly takes on the combined might of the Ultimates, and crushes them with his mystical power combined with his world-breaking strength - indeed, just one punch hits like 15 atomic bombs, and thats barely scratching the surface.
In The Ultimates #6 by Deniz Camp and Juan Frigeri, the Ultimates - consisting of Iron Lad, Captain America, She-Hulk, Giant-Man, Wasp, Thor, Sif, Hawkeye, America Chavez, and the Human Torch - are breaking into another one of the Makers facilities. This time, theyre doing so to free a group of prisoners that (like them) were meant to be superheroes, before the Maker traveled to this world and reshaped it to his liking.

Paul Bettany will soon be returning to the Marvel Cinematic Universe, reprising his role as the Vision, last seen in "WandaVision," in a new TV series centered around the android hero. The first bit of truly exciting news about the project came a few days ago when it was confirmed that the Vision TV series will also see James Spader return to the MCU as Ultron, the robot archnemesis of the Avengers and the Vision's creator.
Spader last appeared as Ultron in writer/director Joss Whedon's 2015 MCU bow-out, "Avengers: Age of Ultron." (Ultron also showed up in the animated series "What If...?" but was voiced by Marvel's go-to understudy Ross Marquand.)
The movie took some liberties with his character, making Tony Stark Ultron's creator, not Hank Pym, and instilling the villain with his "dad's" snarky sense of humor. Spader's performance, though, was rightfully praised. Ultron and Vision's final scene,...

Wolverine's loyalty was tested when he was convinced to kill his own son, Akihiro, to save the X-Men from a deadly fate. Despite being haunted by Akihiro's death, Wolverine was right to listen to his future self's warning about his son's murderous intentions. Wolverine's decision to kill Akihiro was a chilling reminder of how one sentence can change the course of history, even within Marvel Comics.
Wolverine is one of the deadliest characters in Marvel Comics canon, though that doesnt apply to those he considers his friends and family, as Logan is viciously protective and fiercely loyal. However, that depiction of Wolverine was flipped on its head the moment he decided to kill his own son, Akihiro, which he was convinced to do with a single sentence.

The first "Deadpool" film was a love story buried underneath an action-comedy. The root of every choice Wade Wilson (Ryan Reynolds) makes is his love for Vanessa Carlysle (Morena Baccarin). The two share both many wild love scenes in "Deadpool" and a running in-joke about which of them had the worst childhood. Vanessa can even look past Wade's tumorous skin because she likes the man underneath.
Silver screen Deadpool only has eyes for Vanessa but the comics are a different story. Like most of his fellow superheroes, Deadpool has had many short-lived flings with women from all corners of the Marvel Universe. He's even bested Thanos by catching the eye of Lady Death. Deadpool is an X-Men adjacent character; he's not a mutant, but he debuted in "The New Mutants" and has deep ties to Wolverine and Cable. No surprise, he's dated an X-Woman or two.

Doctor Strange's Avengers Team Would Eat the Original Roster for Breakfast (In Some Cases Literally)
The "Avengers of the Supernatural", led by Doctor Strange, were a powerful and intense team, ready to take on the most horrifying threats in the Marvel Universe but they only existed for a span of pages. Villainous alien TV executive Mojo's pitch for the Avengers of the Supernatural in Uncanny Avengers Annual #1 offered a potentially exciting new team for Marvel Comics, one the publisher should revisit now that it is placing more emphasis on horror and supernatural stories. Marvel should return to the idea of the Supernatural Avengers, a team that combined the forces of Doctor Strange, Ghost Rider, Blade and more to make an incredibly formidable squad.
The supernatural Avengers squad briefly led by Doctor Strange was one of the most intense teams ever assembled in the Marvel Universe, with members that wouldn't hesitate to take a bite out of their counterparts in the main roster often, literally.

Fans are eager to see Marvel explore the idea of this immensely powerful offspring in a supernatural storyline. If Ghost Rider and Scarlet Witch did have a child, it would result in an epic 'versus' story between the two characters.

"The Captain" storyline sees Steve Rogers step down as Captain America due to government obligations, showcasing his independence and principled spirit. Captain America is one of Marvels oldest and best superheroes. From his debut punching Hitler in the face in 1941 Captain America Comics #1, Marvels patriotic hero has made his impact on the comic book world thanks to the tireless efforts of hundreds of writers and artists over the decades.
With over eighty years of comics to draw from, stretching all the way back to when Joe Simon and Jack Kirby first introduced him to the world, Cap is certainly not hurting for great stories.

Marvel disproved the "Thanus" theory several years before Avengers: Endgame, showing that it wouldn't work against Luke Cage. Luke Cage's superhuman biology, including his steel skin, allowed him to contain Ant-Man's rapid growth, rendering the tactic ineffective. The theory gained attention among MCU fans online, prompting Disney to address it in a short film, but its failure against Luke Cage suggests it may not have worked against Thanos either.
"Thanus," or the theory that Ant-Man could have defeated Thanos by flying up his butt and growing to massive size, exploding the villain from within, became popular among MCU fans in the lead-up to the release of Avengers: Endgame in 2019 – but as it turned out, Marvel had already settled just how feasible this plan was several years earlier.

Amazon Prime Video continues developing the Image Comics title "Fear Agent", by Rick Remender and Tony Moore as a live-action TV series, to be directed by David F. Sandberg ("Shazam"):

"Now, 'Heath Huston' drunkenly scuttles across the galaxy as an alien exterminator.

Sentry's powers allow him to alter reality on a molecular level, granting him unsurpassed speed. The upgraded Sentry, powered by a Death Seed, is even more powerful, and exceeded the speed of light several times over while dragging Thor. Unlike the Flash, who experiences physical limitations at ultra-high speeds, Sentry has no limits because of how he warps reality.
While the Flash is generally known as the fastest superhero of all time, there is one Marvel character who may be his equal - or even faster. However, as is typical when it gets to the maximum strength of superhero powers, the answer is so extreme, it depends who can bend the laws of reality furthest without breaking them.

Kang the Conqueror defeated the Avengers in the major "Kang Dynasty" storyline by spreading them too thin and forcing major powers to surrender. Kang humiliated the Avengers by making the Wasp sign the articles of surrender, breaking their spirits in a way Thanos never did. While Thanos has defeated the Avengers in more obvious ways, Kang's victory is significant because of the human element involved.
Kang the Conqueror and Thanos are two of the Avengers' most powerful villains – and while both have gotten the best of Earth's Mightiest Heroes before, Kang's defeat of the team stands as the most significant, with one thing in particular setting him and his actions apart from the Mad Titan – Kang is human.
“Kang Dynasty” was a massive Avengers storyline running from 2001-2002, encompassing over a dozen issues. It was authored by Kurt Busiek, with art by Kieron Dwyer, Rick Remender, Tom Smith, and many more.

While the Sentry is already known as Marvel's most powerful hero - the closest the House of Ideas has to its own Superman - even he has the potential to become something greater. This was proved when Celestial technology brought him back from the dead and gave him full control of his powers as an official Horseman of Death. Never one to pull his punches, Deadpool is calling out one of his own publisher's characters as a derivative rip-off. Interestingly, the insult happens in a series from Wade Wilson's famously outspoken original co-creator Rob Liefeld, suggesting that rather than an offhand remark, it may actually be a sincere criticism of the antihero.
In a preview of Liefeld, Chad Bowers, Jay David Ramos and Joe Sabino's Deadpool: Badder Blood #3, Wade takes on Venompool - a monstrous version of the Merc with a Mouth who has combined with the Venom symbiote. While battling the attacker and searching for his X-Force team, Wade curses out his doppelganger, addressing the character as "you derivative piece of @$#%?!" It seems Wade isn't happy to see himself merged with Venom, especially if the monster was used to kill his friends.

Few heroes have been active as long as Wolverine and Captain America. The two of them met while World War II was raging, and they faced a lot of battles together as both allies and enemies. Things haven't always been rosy between the two, and they've had their fair share of ups and downs over nearly a century. Now, hundreds of thousands of mutants are dead or exiled thanks to Orchis' Mutant Massacre, and Logan still has an ongoing plight with Legacy House - villainous auctioneers who sold his severed hand. Thankfully, Cap is stepping up to have his back, giving them a closer relationship than ever.

The T-x might be one of the most advanced Terminator models Skynet has ever built, but a modern-day technological feature provided a crucial element in its mission to eliminate the John Connor-led Resistance.
The comic tie-in issues Terminator 3 #3-#4 by Miles Gunter, Mike Hawthorne, Rick Remender, Giulia Brusco, Richard Starkings, and Jimmy Bentancourt retell the story depicted in the 2003 film Terminator 3: The Rise of the Machines, wherein Skynet sends its most efficient killing machine to the past to target John Connor's future friends and allies. However, in the comic book all the scenes in which the T-x is present are told from the perspective of a Terminator. In fact, the only dialog uttered is what the T-x would have likely heard or observed from its own vantage point.

X-Force was first formed in 1991 by the mutant Cable alongside radicalized members of the New Mutants. This outlaw band of former X-Men affiliates sought to protect mutantkind from threats in a manner that wasn't conducive to the rule of law. Steve Rogers' adopted son Ian Rogers aka Nomad knows that he won’t be the next Captain America, and he's perfectly fine with that. Nomad is a very complicated man with his own sense of justice but has a profound respect for his father’s legacy. However, Steve Rogers himself decides to tell his adopted son why he will not pass the mantle of Captain America to him.
Following the events of 2015’s Secret Wars, Nomad winds up stranded in a New York City controlled by Hydra, which is run by the villainous supercomputer Arnim Zola. Even after Nomad gains the trust of the heroes, the Hydra Avengers attack and kill most of the heroes including Captain America.

While Venom is unarguably one of the most brutal characters in Marvel Comics, with a hardcore name to match, his moniker never really made a lot of sense–at least, not until he received a major upgrade courtesy of Hydra.

Not only that, but Eddie and the symbiote came up with that name together while both of them were stewing in their shared hatred of Spider-Man. Iron Fist isn't often thought of as one of the strongest Avengers, but "the Living Weapon" has shown that if he didn't hold back he would definitely be one of the deadliest. Most of Marvel's superheroes are united by one fundamental doctrine: do not kill. While this isn't a hard rule and exceptions aren't uncommon, generally what separates a hero like Daredevil from the Punisher is a willingness to cross that line. This moral code means heroes often pull their punches, as a full-strength punch from Spider-Man would be lethal to the average purse-snatcher. What happens when these self-imposed inhibitions are lifted, however?

The modern Secret Wars is one of Marvel’s most revered comics events, but one Avengers comic showed that it wouldn’t have the impact some fans expected. The case of Rage of Ultron is a perfect case study in the difficulties with making the stakes in events feel real; but the comic it "spoiled" also has a lesson on how to make these events feel special irrespective of any spoilers.
The 2015 event Secret Wars was billed as the biggest shakeup of the Marvel Universe ever. With the destruction of the entire multiverse as prelude, the open question was what the Marvel Universe would look like after the comics event ended. At the time, rumors of a DC-style reboot, a first for Marvel, were constantly in the air. The 2015 event Secret Wars was billed as the biggest shakeup of the Marvel Universe ever. Captain America has been around since the beginning of comics, and like many of his Golden Age peers he has gone through a lot of revamps, retcons, and full-blown reboots since his first appearance in 1941’s Captain America #1 by Joe Simon and Jack Kirby. Those changes have made the Star-Spangled Avenger the enduring icon that he is today.
However, one thing that has not radically changed is Cap’s beginnings. There are cosmetic differences between the origin found in Captain America #1, and the modern retelling of Steve Rogers’ transformation from scrawny wimp to super soldier. The doctor’s name was originally Reinstein, not Urskine; Steve Rogers was a private in the U.S. Army, not a captain; and Captain America had a secret identity — despite being created by a military project. Steve and his sidekick, Bucky Barnes, also spent their first several issues fighting spies and criminals on American soil. The...

With Deadpool 3 almost written and just about ready to begin filming, fans are ecstatic about what Ryan Reynold and Hugh Jackman have in store, especially since Wolverine will be returning to the big screen again after five years. In the meantime, new and old fans of the Deadpool franchise have been on cloud nine while searching for his most memorable comics.
From the start of it all in 1991 when Fabian Nicieza and Rob Liefeld co-created the chaotic antihero, to Daniel Way’s humor-focused writing of Deadpool in 2008, Wade Wilson has had some of the funniest lines in comic book history. Though Joe Kelly’s iconic run as the writer for Deadpool in 1997 defined the character for the lovably comedic yet deep man he is, which comics does Reddit consider the funniest of all?

It seems odd to consider that Thor undergoing a dark upgrade would mean trouble for Loki as far too often the opposite is true, though that is exactly the scenario the Avengers found themselves in during one particular storyline–one that introduces a version of Mjolnir that holds a specific power the original does not.
Mjolnir is Thor’s hammer which was given to him by his father, Odin, after being forged from raw Uru metal and enchanted by Odin himself. In essence, Mjolnir is one of the most powerful weapons in the universe, and Thor has wielded her for more than a thousand years. However, even with all of Mjolnir’s strength, Loki has time and again found ways to undermine the raw power the hammer holds through his powerful, dark magic. Loki can create illusions, conjure demons, and cast spells that Thor cannot overcome with Mjolnir alone. A...
