A day after the news broke that he had been tapped by Amazon to write the next James Bond film, “Peaky Blinders” creator Steven Knight has told fans that he can’t wait to get started on the British spy franchise’s latest installment saying it will hopefully be a bolder take on 007.

Knight opened up about his new, high-profile gig in a Friday interview with the BBC’s Radio 5 Live Breakfast. “It has always been on my bucket list and it’s fantastic to be invited to do it,” Knight said. “I can’t wait to get started.” The screenwriter, whose past credits outside of “Peaky Blinders” include 2021’s “Spencer,” 2013’s “Locke” and 2007’s “Eastern Promises,” went on to confirm that he is, indeed, a fan of the Bond franchise.

Ante up. Colin Farrell stars in Netflix’s Ballad of a Small Player and we are now given a new look at it. The project was announced last year with its production starting later on. The film comes from Edward Berger, the director of the Academy Award-winning All Quiet on the Western Front. While Berger directs, Rowan Joffe has adapted a script that is based on the novel of the same name by Lawrence Osborne. Mike Goodridge is on board to produce through his Good Chaos banner, as well as Berger through his Nine Hours banner, along with Matthew James Wilkinson. She was nominated in the outstanding directing for a variety special category for “Beyoncé Bowl.” The Netflix special landed a total of four nominations including outstanding variety special (Live). Co-directors of photography Emmanuel “Chivo” Lubezki and Bruno Delbonnel, prosthetics makeup artist Barrie Gower, and songwriter Nicholas Britell were among the industry heavyweights who led the Creative Arts Emmy nominations on Tuesday morning.

Alfonso Cuaron’s go-to cinematographers Delbonnel and Lubezki were recognized for their work on the AppleTV+ limited series “Disclaimer.” Britell scored a nomination for writing “We are the Ghor” (Planetary Anthem) from Disney+’s “Andor.”

A Big Bold Beautiful Journey, the romantic drama starring Margot Robbie and Colin Farrell, unveiled its first trailer Tuesday. The film, directed by Kogonada and written by Seth Reiss (The Menu), is set to hit theaters September 19 via Sony’s Columbia Pictures.

Robbie and Farrell play Sarah and David, strangers who meet at a mutual friend’s wedding. They soon are brought back together after some mystical Gps matchmaking of sorts and embark on a sweeping adventure through time in which they get to re-live important moments from their respective pasts via a series of doors they discover that act as portals. The journey will become what connects them.

Kevin Kline and Phoebe Waller-Bridge also star along with Lily Rabe, Jodie Turner-Smith, Lucy Thomas, Hamish Linklater, Billy Magnussen, Sarah Gadon, Brandon Perea and Yuvi Hecht. The pic marks Robbie’s first acting role since Barbie, and Farrell’s since The Penguin.

Near the end of last week, the first footage from A Big Bold Beautiful Journey was released, and now Sony Pictures has followed up by dropping the first official trailer of the film. Starring Margot Robbie and Colin Farrell, the grand romance adventure tells an imaginative tale of two strangers and the inspiring journey that binds them. The film will be released in theaters on September 19 later this year, and it also stars Phoebe Waller-Bridge (Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny), Hamish Linklater (The Big Short), and Billy Magnussen (No Time to Die). This will be Robbie’s first feature role since starring in Barbie, the 2023 blockbuster smash hit, and it will also be Farrell’s first appearance since his hit comic book TV series, The Penguin.

Sony Pictures has released the trailer for “A Big Bold Beautiful Journey,” a romance film starring Margot Robbie and Colin Farrell.

The romance-fantasy film, directed by Kogonada, is “an imaginative tale of two strangers,” per the official logline. The cast also includes Jodie Turner-Smith, Lily Rabe, Phoebe Waller-Bridge and Hamish Linklater.

Kogonada previously directed the sci-fi family drama “After Yang,” which starred Farrell and Turner-Smith, as well as 2017’s “Columbus.” He also directed the Apple TV+ series “Pachinko.” Seth Reiss, known for “The Menu,” wrote the script.

Farrell told Collider that the film is “kind of a love story, but it’s not a very typical one. It’s definitely magical realism. It’s grounded in a world that we recognize, but it also is removed enough into the world of fantastical that it goes into these kinds of whimsical places.”

Along with the Monday announcement, Republic Pictures (a Paramount Pictures label) debuted a first-look at the feature’s key art, spotlighting a bruised and bloodied Turner. (Get a peek at that poster below.) “You can hide, but you can’t run,” the poster reads.

Turner stars as a Hollywood starlet who, after an unnamed scandal, “retreats to a remote cabin — but she’s not alone. Betrayed by the man she trusted most, she’s trapped in a brutal game of survival,” the official logline reads. “She can hide, but she can’t run.”

The project co-stars Rhys Coiro, Billy Campbell, Peter Mensah, Forrest Goodluck, Gianni Paolo, Renata Vaca and Katey Sagal.

From Angelina Jolie to Alicia Vikander, the torch carried by Lara Croft has now been passed on to Sophie Turner.

A new live-action Tomb Raider series from Phoebe Waller-Bridge has been in development for Prime Video since 2023, but it was officially greenlit in 2024, and Turner was in talks to star in the titular role. Even though reports earlier stated that the series was no longer moving forward due to issues in development, a now-deleted post from Sophie herself has seemingly confirmed otherwise.
