While most folks regard Christmas as a time for merriment and peace, the minds behind Inside No. 9 were more inclined to explore the dark side of the holidays. Back in 2016, multi-hyphenates Steve Pemberton and Reece Shearsmith were running at full tilt as they pulled off their anthology’s first special, “The Devil of Christmas.” The creative pair’s well of imagination and craftsmanship was overflowing here, and to make this genre gift for the holiday season all the more memorable, Pemberton and Reece garnished their endeavor with what is arguably the most shocking ending in the show’s entire run.

[Warning: The below contains Major spoilers for The Devil’s Hour Season 2.] One of the trippiest shows on TV returned with an even wilder second season: The Devil’s Hour, starring Peter Capaldi and Jessica Raine and diving deep into past lives and who does and doesn’t remember theirs. To prevent a bombing, Gideon (Capaldi) wants them to reset (which means dying), but Lucy (Raine) protests, bringing up her son, Isaac (Benjamin Chivers). Still, Gideon triggers the reset, shooting Lucy. One of them does see the other’s perspective, the stars tell TV Insider in the video interview above. “I think Lucy’s still hanging on to some semblance of, ‘I have a son, I have a life,'” says Raine. “We’ve shot Season 3 now, and Season 2 is a kind of a bridge, I think, from Lucy becoming pretty normal to becoming more like Gideon in Season 1 and focused, potentially looking insane to people, but doesn’t care.

So much can change minute to minute in The Devil’s Hour, which deals with past lives, but one thing that will always remain constant, and does in Season 2 (premiering October 18 on Prime Video), is that Lucy (Jessica Raine) and Gideon’s (Peter Capaldi) relationship is one of very reluctant allies at best. “It was really different to Series 1 because obviously we were face-to-face in a cell, and Lucy assumed that Gideon had abducted Isaac [Benjamin Chivers]. So she was absolutely terrified of him, but wanted to get answers,” Raine tells TV Insider. Such is not the case in Season 2. Now, “there is a thriller aspect to this series, a really exciting countdown to trying to stop this horrific crime that they are both completely focused on finishing. And I think Lucy’s under the illusion that if she does this, then she can walk away from this loop, but Gideon...

Amazon MGM Studios boss Jennifer Salke, Octavia Spencer and Priyanka Chopra Jonas were among the big names lauding the role of women in TV and film at a Prime Video event today.
“Women are at the core of our business – from our incredible actors, our inventive producers and our executive teams,” said Salke, at the Trailblazers event in Central London. The event saw multiple stars, producers and directors touching on issues such as pay parity and production, with several trailers and first looks also unveiled.
During a conversation with Academy Award-winner Octavia Spencer, Salke said the pitch for The Help star’s untitled comedy thriller series opposite Hannah Waddingham was among the best she had heard in her career.
“I have heard thousands of pitches, maybe tens of thousands, and it was a top three — the relationship of two women at the center with action, humor and heart,” she said.

Backed by an eight-figure investment out of New York, the company will focus on developing and producing what London-based Murray and NYC-based Torresblanco described to us as “U.S. and regional content with global appeal.”
The partners told us they will work on high-end, specialist, and mainstream content across film, television, and documentaries in both English and Spanish. In addition to the US and Spain, Torresblanco and Murray told us they will prioritize producing content in other key markets, including the UK, Ireland, Australia, Canada, and Latam. The company is currently in the process of securing cash for an additional development fund.
“We are so very thankful to our backers for believing in our vision for Hangtime,” Murray told us.
