‘Semi-Soeter’ Netflix Review: Just Another Pro-Life Propaganda Film

Semi-Soeter is the sequel (or should I call it a legacy sequel?) to the 2012 film Semi-Soet. Back then, “pretend couple to real couple” plots were all the rage, and Joshua Rous and his co-writers, Anel Alexander, James Gracie, and Sandra Vaughn, decided to capitalize on that trend. The narrative was about an employee of an advertising company faking her relationship with the very businessman that was about to take over the firm that she worked at in order to secure a deal with a wine company. Why? Because the winegrower explicitly stated that he wanted a person with a “stable romantic relationship” to market his product. It made no sense whatsoever, but since premises like these were being lapped up by everyone back then, it got a free pass. Night Drive Introduces the Hyena Man to Audiences December 20th
Night Drive is a horror thriller filmed in South Africa which includes some of that regions mythos, a hyena man. And a group of tourists will be tracked down by this feral man as group of poachers also terrorize the local area. This is an indie thriller that has toured local film festivals and now Night Drive parks itself on DVD December 20th. Here is your early preview of this international film that entertains in the trailer below.

Complete Lineup Announced for the 2011 South African HorrorFest
One film festival I'm bound and determined to make it to one of these years is the South African HorrorFest, but for now I'll just have to live vicariously through those of you who live close enough to attend. And after taking a look at this year's lineup, I'm pretty sure that if you are in the area, you won't want to miss it!

Growing into the country's ultimate Halloween event covering indie, new and classic movies, short films, music, literature and a range of Halloween festivities, 2011 marks the annual South African HorrorFest's lucky 7th year! It runs 26 October through 4 November.

Almost each of the exciting feature films and short films make their South African theatrical premieres. The Makabra Ensemble will also debut their Dr. Jekyll & Mr. Hyde movie soundtrack performance, live to the screening of this 1920 silent classic.
