Emmy winner Tina Fey has addressed the possibility of Steve Carell’s return in the upcoming second season of The Four Seasons. In addition to playing one of the Netflix show’s lead characters, Fey also took on multiple roles behind-the-scenes, including serving as its co-creator, co-writer, and co-showrunner.
During the penultimate episode of The Four Seasons Season 1, Carell’s character Nick surprisingly died in a car accident while he was on a New Year’s Eve ski vacation with his girlfriend and her friends, whom he had trouble connecting with due to their age gap. In a recent interview with Deadline, when asked if Fey has any plans to bring back Carell in potential flashback sequences, she admitted that she doesn’t really know at the moment. “I couldn’t possibly say. We have our format. I mean, of the many mistakes I’ve made in my career, killing...

There’s a sequence in Alan Alda’s 1981 movie The Four Seasons in which all of the main characters converge on a classic Connecticut college for a parents' weekend and end up playing a friendly game of soccer.
Alda uses the game to highlight the competitiveness of the two primary players. The set piece is the same in Tina Fey’s new interpretation – now playing on Netflix – but the sport has changed. Now they are all playing ultimate frisbee.
This is just one of the many ways Fey and her co-creators – Lang Fisher and Tracey Wigfield – have managed to remain faithful to Alda’s original while expanding the scope.
With a writer like Tina Fey in charge, how could Four Seasons go wrong?
For instance, whereas the soccer scene in the original film primarily results in a showdown between the two alpha males in the group – Jack (Alda) and Nick (Len Cariou) – Fey,...

Following his acclaimed run as this year’s Oscars host, Conan O’Brien is back for the second season of “Conan O’Brien Must Go,” featuring Oscar winners Taika Waititi (“Jojo Rabbit”) and Javier Bardem (“No Country for Old Men”).
In this new season, O’Brien continues his trek around the world by visiting New Zealand, Austria and Spain. The official synopsis reads: “In this riotously funny travel series, Conan O’Brien experiences local cultures and connects with fans he previously met on his podcast.”
Season 2 drops after Season 3 officially was officially greenlit, meaning that more adventures around the world are in store for O’Brien. Teen comedies are oftentimes at their best with the perfect blend of raunchy humor and heart. Since its release, Hulu's Prom Dates has been drawing comparisons to last year's Bottoms and 2019's Booksmart, both of which are regarded for their unapologetic jokes and dynamic best friend duos. The streamer's latest team-up with American High Productions sees that one-two punch knocking it out again in Prom Dates, a buddy comedy starring Julia Lester (High School Musical: The Musical: The Series) and Antonia Gentry (Ginny & Georgia) in a sharp coming-of-age story about two best friends who make a blood pact to have the best prom night ever.

High school is the part of life in which you learn about how human interactions are complex and that there are some responsibilities you just can't hide away from. For Julia Lester, the "high school" years in which she learned valuable lessons happened in plain sight for all of us to see. In an interview during Collider's screening of her new comedy movie Prom Dates, Lester talked about her four-year stint on High School Musical: The Musical: The Series and how they shaped her as a professional actor.

In “Prom Dates,” two high school besties are sent reeling after their carefully orchestrated plans for the future take an abrupt turn, forcing them on a wild overnight adventure across town. If this set-up sounds vaguely familiar, it’s because director Kim O. Nguyen and screenwriter D.J. Mausner have combined a handful of ingredients from “Booksmart” and mixed them with some of the farcical odyssey of “After Hours.” However, unlike this teen raunch-com’s brilliantly conceived inspirations, its main friendship dynamic and ensuing shenanigans fail to resonate due to sloppy character construction and a cadre of cringe-worthy circumstances.
As innocent middle schoolers, Hannah (Millie Thorpe) and Jess (Hailey Philip) took a blood oath – one that went hilariously awry – to make their prom night the best night of their lives. But as seniors, the besties are finding that making good on their pact might prove difficult. Hannah (Julia Lester) is struggling with her sexuality,...

Julia Lester and Antonia Gentry have good chemistry, making the film entertaining despite some execution issues. The movie has a progressive outlook on girl teenhood, with engaging and humorous moments throughout. Prom Dates may not be as funny as expected, but it offers an entertaining story about friendship and love for prom season.
Prom is an age-old backdrop for teen comedies, with a new prom-centric movie releasing consistently around this time of year. The Kim O. Ngyuen-directed Prom Dates finds itself in the small yet growing subgenre of teen comedies, with girls taking the lead as they navigate the messy realities of relationships, sex and friendships. Prom Dates is if Booksmart and Blockers had a crass baby. While it succeeds at focusing on the teens more, the one problem the film has is, unlike Blockers, which splits its narrative with the parents, Prom Dates is not nearly as funny as it should be.

At the beginning of Act Two of “Merrily We Roll Along,” Jonathan Groff, Daniel Radcliffe, Lindsay Mendez and other ensemble members sing “It’s A Hit!,” celebrating the successful opening of characters Charlie and Frank’s first Broadway musical. Indeed, one could say the same about this revival of “Merrily,” not just because of its smash box office receipts, but also because of the seven Tony Awards nominations that it received on April 30. This recognition from New York theatre’s highest honor is a true redemption for the show, whose original production was a notorious flop for composer Stephen Sondheim and director Hal Prince that ran only 16 regular performances and earned only a single bid for Sondheim’s original score. But how does this production’s Tony success compare to other recent revivals of the late composer’s works?

Spoiler Alert: This story contains spoilers for the fourth and final season of “High School Musical: The Musical: The Series,” now streaming on Disney+.
The Wildcats of “High School Musical: The Musical: The Series” have taken their final bow.
The Disney+ extension of the popular movie musical trilogy concluded this week with an eight-episode fourth season that found its cast performing a stage — or rather, basketball court — production of 2008’s “High School Musical 3: Senior Year.” Members of that film’s original cast returned to East High to shoot the fictional “High School Musical 4: The Reunion.”
Although the original films have had a presence since the pilot episode — the series is set at the high school where the films were shot — the final season is the show’s most meta endeavor yet.
