Unfortunately, not every mutant or member of the X-Men develops amazing powers. While every mutation comes with drawbacks, some mutants are just dealt a worse hand than others. Vastly altered appearances, incomplete biologies, or powers of mass destruction, these abilities can segregate and isolate mutants even within their own communities. Even worse off are the mutants whose powers destroy themselves.
Over the thousands of generations that mutants have existed, long before Apocalypse was ever born, mutant powers have mixed and combined, creating wild combinations in the modern day. Some mutations have shifted into uncontrollable conduits for cataclysmic power. Others display incomplete evolutions or incompatible biology, in which case a mutant’s body isn’t able to handle the strain of their mutation. Then there are some whose mutations are “unfavorably” topical, isolating the mutant from general society. The X-Men and Marvel’s mutants have been around for a long time,...

Marvel Comics has delivered dozens of new Spider-Man and Venom adventures throughout the publisher's vast Multiverse, and now, the Spider-Verse and Venomverse will collide in an all-out war for the survival of both. The Spider-Society, which protects the Web of Life and Destiny from external and internal threats, and the Symbiote Hive Mind, connecting every symbiote across the Multiverse together, will soon become each other's greatest threats.
As announced by Marvel, Web of Spider-Verse: New Blood and Web of Venomverse: Fresh Brains – both featuring creative teams stacked with all-star Marvel writers and artists – will be an interconnected crossover event, which is set to feature the debut of even more new variants of Spider-Man and Venom, while also crafting a story with major consequences for both corners of the Marvel Multiverse.

Spider-Man's Spider-Verse - which now includes Venom - is one of Marvel's most popular concepts. Now, the Spider-Verse and the Venomverse are colliding, and three incredibly cool Spider-Men will be at the center of this battle.
With Venom being nearly as popular as Spider-Man, Venom has gotten his own multiverse known as the Venomverse, which functions the same as the beloved Spider-Verse concept. Now, Marvel has announced the two multiverses will be going to war, and the first new Spider-Men will be shown off in Web of Spider-Verse: New Blood #1, an anthology issue featuring art by character designer Luciano Vecchio, including a spectacular cover by Vecchio.
It's not unusual for comic book universes to incllude multiverse storytelling. It's an extremely easy way to explore new versions of familiar characters and put them in bizarre situations that wouldn't make sense in standard continuity. Spider-Man ended up getting his very own multiverse,...

The Avengers have been a staple in the Marvel Universe for decades, and the roster is constantly evolving - which is why it might be surprising to hear that I think the team was at its strongest under Magneto's unexpected leadership. It's hard to top a line-up like Loki, Doctor Doom, Enchantress, Carnage, and even more heavy-hitters, and I believe that the Master of Magnetism recruited the most powerful Avengers ever.
Avengers & X-Men: Axis #2 by Rick Remender and Andy Kubert is one of the tensest events I've read, as Magneto's rage-fueled murder of Red Skull allowed him to become Red Onslaught and begin using Charles Xavier's telepathic strength to spread worldwide hatred. As readers, we all witnessed many of the most talented Avengers and X-Men reduced to failed plans and inadequate powers.
Red Onslaught may have emerged victorious had Magneto not chosen that moment to rewrite the game.

Spider-Man gained his powers from a radioactive spider bite that mutated his blood, but the full extent of his mutation is much stranger than anyone expected. Spider-Man's blood is radioactive, and it turns out that all of his bodily fluids are also radioactive, including his sperm. As disturbing as that might be, what's even more alarming is that scientists proved this could really happen. No, seriously - it is possible, if not downright likely.

One of the greatest battles that I have ever seen from Iron Man and the Avengers was when they fought Bob Reynolds, also known as the Sentry. At this point in the comics, the Sentry had been taken over by his evil alter ego, the Void, who wielded all the power he needed to end the world. This scenario may sound like an amazing climactic fight, but I've seen a few fans confused about how it actually ended.
The battle against the Void in Siege #4 by Brian Michael Bendis and Olivier Coipel is massive and bloody. While characters like Captain America, Thor, Luke Cage, and Captain Marvel are all pretty heavy hitters, they absolutely paled in comparison to the Void, which is why I think some fans seem to find it odd how the Void was beaten so quickly. But after reading over the issue myself, it really wasn't quick or easy.

Iron Man extends an apology to Captain America in Avengers Prime, finally healing the wounds of the iconic Civil War conflict. Captain America and Iron Man, though often at odds, share a mutual goal of protecting the world, making them Marvel's Mightiest Heroes. The ultimate conflict between freedom and security is embodied in the relationship between Captain America and Iron Man, who fight better together.
The Civil War between Iron Man and Captain America is iconic for splitting Marvel Comics superhero community down the middle. The damage from said conflict has taken years to heal, and to this day Steve Rogers and Tony Stark still feel its effects. But that doesnt mean a formal apology was never issued, and it was Iron Man who ended up extending the olive branch.

Janet Van Dyne's death in Secret Invasion feels arbitrary and unfair, serving mainly to shock readers and make other heroes feel sad. Like many characters in Marvel Comics, Wasp doesn't stay dead for long, with Brian Michael Bendis bringing her back a few years later. Wasp's death in Secret Invasion serves as a commentary on an infamous Avengers moment, highlighting the mistreatment of female characters in comics.
When Marvel Comics' 2008 crossover Secret Invasion happened, it claimed the life of a founding Avenger, the Wasp, which was especially heartbreaking because she was barely even involved in the story. This "shock death" is emblematic of several problems with major comic crossover events of the era, and the carelessness with which female characters are often treated in comics. Its also a metatextual examination of Marvels most contentious relationship, though thats still no excuse for what happens.

The entire direction of the Marvel Cinematic Universe has been entirely uprooted. After Avengers: Endgame, the overarching narrative pivoted from a grounded battle against Thanos to a multiverse-spanning arc. This has been slowly pitting the heroes against various variants of Jonathan Majors' Kang the Conqueror. After Majors was found guilty of assault and harassment, however, Marvel Studios officially fired Majors.
Given how important Kang has been to the entire plot of the post-Thanos MCU, Marvel has multiple choices ahead of it. While the studio can choose to recast Kang, it can also set up another villain entirely to take over Kang's role in uniting the heroes against a common threat. With the Fantastic Four and the X-Men about to enter the universe, Marvel can take many routes.

Ben Grimm is mad. The ace pilot would do almost anything for his college pal Dr. Reed Richards, the super-genius who has designed an experimental rocket. But Ben worries about cosmic rays surrounding the planet and threatens to drop out of the project.
“Ben, we’ve got to take that chance,” interjects friend Sue Storm. “Unless we want the Commies to beat us to it.”
With that Ben takes up the mission. Because if there’s one thing that Benjamin J. Grimm hates, its Commies. Well, at least that’s what Ben hated in the 1960s. And so he joins Reed, Sue, and Sue’s brother Johnny on a trip into space, a trip that will expose them to cosmic rays, transforming Ben into the Thing, Reed into Mr. Fantastic, Sue into Invisible Girl, and Johnny into the Human Torch. Together, they will form the Fantastic Four.

Spider-Man's deaths have been some of the most brutal and horrific in the Marvel universe, despite being a beloved superhero. Spider-Man's vulnerability as a street-level hero makes him susceptible to well-placed attacks, as he lacks the invulnerability of other Marvel heroes. From having his life force drained by the symbiote to being murdered by various enemies, Spider-Man has suffered multiple gruesome deaths throughout the Marvel multiverse.
Nearly every Marvel hero, from Captain America to Iron Man, has died at least once, and Spider-Man is certainly no different. But considering how beloved Spidey is within the pantheon of Marvel's superheroes, it's odd that he has suffered some of the most horrific deaths out of anyone else.
Spider-Man is remarkably powerful, but he's still primarily a street-level hero. He's gotten into tons of fights that he's barely survived, because at the end of the day, he's just a man with enhanced strength and agility.

The premiere of Loki has fans wondering why the God of Mischief isn't using as much magic as he used to. So far, Loki has used a couple of illusions, but nothing compared to his complete power set. In the comics, he's known for using his magic in many different ways.
From simple stuff like telekinesis to very complex metafictional reality warping, Loki can do a lot of different things that show just how powerful he is. Lady Loki has become a touchstone, not just because a version has appeared in the MCU, but because she helped to begin the trend of Loki’s self-expression going beyond his classic villainous male-presenting form — even if it took her death to truly kickstart that revolution.
@jamiebearfancypants has made a spectacular cosplay of Lady Loki.

Batman's villains are so versatile that the Daredevil franchise fused two of them together to create the terrifying Mr. Fear. Mr. Fear uses a combination of Scarecrow's fear toxin and Poison Ivy's pheromone control to manipulate and harm Daredevil's friends. Even though Daredevil confronts Mr. Fear, he cannot defeat him, demonstrating that this combination of villains is too powerful for even Daredevil.
Batman's iconic villains are truly versatile, and their strength is proven by how the Daredevil franchise fused two of Batman's villains together and got something truly terrifying: Mr. Fear. When Daredevil's life was falling apart (once again), the mastermind behind it was none other than the villain who uses the powers of both Scarecrow and Poison Ivy.
In one Marvel Comics storyline, Daredevil spends months in prison, but eventually escapes and clears his name. Life goes back to normal for Matt — until strange things start happening around him.

There are few weapons or artifacts in the Marvel Universe that can match the sheer power of the Infinity Gauntlet when it’s housing all six Infinity Stones, though there is something that’s the Infinity Gauntlet’s exact equal: the Infinity Collar - making it just as dangerous as the very weapon Thanos first introduced in his most impactful storyline to date.
The Infinity Gauntlet made its Marvel Comics debut in the appropriately titled event, Infinity Gauntlet by Jim Starlin and Geroge Pérez. It's a large glove made from uru metal with the capacity to channel immense levels of energy, as it was specifically designed to withstand the power generated from using all six Infinity Stones at once. Thanos wielded the Infinity Gauntlet before he lost it to Adam Warlock, who then dispersed the Infinity Stones among his newfound team of heroes collectively known as the Infinity Watch. A Lady Loki cosplay by Zainab Jiwa elevates the character's fashion to a new level with a gorgeous costume, flowing cape, golden horns, and custom Mjolnir earrings. Loki is a master of transformation, adopting various forms and outfits to suit his situation. His Lady Loki form has been a trendsetter in the Marvel Universe. This cosplay represents a powerful and confident Lady Loki who can be both mischievous and protective, showing that anyone can embody the God of Mischief.
Loki is ready to hit the runway with this incredibly fashionable cosplay. The God of Mischief has always made himself presentable given his fun and eccentric nature. But this Lady Loki cosplay seems to have taken the character to a new level of fashionista.

Cosplayer Lane Fenimore's female Captain America costume could easily be interpreted as American Dream, the future version of Cap and niece of Sharon Carter. It's a perfect update of the character. American Dream is one of the few heroes entrusted with Captain America's shield. She first appeared in Marvel's MC2 line as part of the next generation of Marvel Heroes. Fenimore's cosplay shows how American Dream could fit into the MCU and expand Cap's world. This underrated legacy character deserves more recognition.

Thanks to his incredible strength, resilience, and healing factor, Hulk typically faces off with powerhouse characters like the Thing and Juggernaut, and yet X-Men's Cyclops is strong enough to give him a run for his money. The full force of Scott Summers' optic blasts is rarely unleashed, and yet to protector his mentor Charles Xavier, Cyclops unleashed everything he had against the Hulk.

The evil Reed Richards, known as the Maker, has taken his stretching powers to a new level by turning them into a body horror healing factor. The Maker has utilized time travel to become the ruler of a reality similar to the Ultimate Universe, but heroes from the future attempt to kill him to save their own timeline. The Maker's distorted appearance, with his head destroyed, reflects his inner ugliness and sets him apart from humanity, while avoiding an ableist metaphor.
Reed Richards’ stretching powers are amazing, but his evil counterpart, the Maker, has now pushed them further by turning them into a body horror healing factor. The Maker has pushed his body and powers to their limit, and, in doing so, has surpassed anything done by mainstream Reed.
A Reed Richards without morality is a Reed Richards without limits — for both good and ill.

Few in the DC Universe inspire as much terror as the Joker — so much so that he is even the boogeyman to other villains. In 1995’s Underworld Unleashed, the demon Neron recruits the Clown Prince of Crime to his inner council of villains. When Neron convenes his inner council, the Joker's reception speaks volumes as to how his "peers" view him.
Underworld Unleashed is a villain-centric crossover event; published in 1995, it was an attempt by DC to revitalize underrated and underutilized villains while also celebrating the cream of the crop — which includes the Joker. One of Batman’s greatest foes, the Joker is as every bit an icon as the Caped Crusader, and he commands fear and terror wherever he goes. The Joker not only scares Batman and the Justice League, but, as revealed in Underworld Unleashed, he terrifies other villains, too. The DC Universe is loaded with heinous characters,...

The Ultimates may be the Earth's greatest defenders for the Ultimate Universe (Earth 1610), but there is another whose sheer brilliance and ingenuity overwhelm the roster: Reed Richards, a.k.a. Mr. Fantastic, leader of the Fantastic Four. The Fantastic Four is often depicted as a group of science-based explorers and adventurers rather than superheroes, but that doesn't stop the team from matching wits with costumed defenders.

"Would You Erase Me From Existence?": Reed Richards Officially Fears 1 Villain More Than Doctor Doom

The following contains spoilers for Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse, now playing in theaters.
Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse is packed to the gills with scene-stealing characters, but it's hard to deny its breakout darling. Spider-Punk -- aka Hobie Brown -- begins the film as a member of Miguel O'Hara's Spider-Society, only to break with the group out of sympathy for their treatment of Miles Morales. He's a member of Spider-Gwen's team assembled at the end of the movie to save Miles, which means he'll be returning in 2024's Beyond the Spider-Verse to complete the trilogy.
That raises the tantalizing question of his possible arrival in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, which suddenly looks a lot more possible thanks to the new fans he's gained from Across the Spider-Verse. He even has a hook from the comics that would fit perfectly into what the burgeoning mega-franchise has planned. The Spider-Geddon story saw...

In the Marvel Universe, there are several real-world problems that, no matter how smart superheroes may be, they can never seem to fix, but one unlikely hero actually found a way to cure cancer years ago - the Gold Goblin aka Norman Osborn. Now, Norman's on the side of the good guys... so why hasn't he released his cancer cure?
In the 2000s, Norman Osborn underwent somewhat of a renaissance. The following contains spoilers for Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse, now playing in theaters.
Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse references a lot of the Wall-Crawler's history from across the multiverse. The film takes cues from different stories and various versions of the classic characters to tell a unique story that still touches upon many of the same tropes and themes of Spider-Man. But there's one surprising story in particular that serves as a precursor to the film's big final twist -- and teases the danger it may pose to the heroes.

For the first time in its history, Star Trek has been nominated for two Eisner Awards - which suggests a franchise curse may be coming to an end. Last fall, Idw Publishing reinvigorated its line of Star Trek comics, kicking off a franchise-spanning god war that threatens to destroy the universe. This relaunch has been met with acclaim from both fans and critics, and the hard work has paid off as the comics have been nominated for one of the industry’s highest awards.
As reported on the official Star Trek website, both Star Trek #400 and the new, flagship Star Trek title have been nominated for Eisner Awards. Star Trek #400 was nominated for Best Single Issue/One-Shot whereas Star Trek has netted a nomination for Best New Series. When it comes to Star Trek, most fans give a lot of credit for Starfleet's successes to its iconic captains, but if you ask Mr. Sulu, it's not just the abilities of a starship's captain that win the day. It takes a whole crew of diverse and dedicated people who each contribute something different, both to the mission and the franchise.
The original USS Enterprise, designation Ncc-1701, is the most iconic ship in the history of the United Federation of Planets. Launched in 2245, the ship was first commanded by Captain Robert April, then Christopher Pike, but achieved its iconic status under the leadership of James T. Kirk and his dedicated crew. In that era, the Federation flagship was piloted by Hikaru Sulu, with navigator/operations officer Pavel Andreievich Chekov, communications officer Nyota Uhura, chief engineer Montgomery Scott, chief medical officer Leonard McCoy, and chief science officer and first officer Spock.

So after twenty seven issues Weapon X reaches is end. It has been one hell of a ride. A ride which has largely been enjoyable. My feeling is it was a result of low sales. Because while the issue feels like a good end point for the story arc it doesn’t feel a satisfactory conclusion for the whole team and the series so far.
