Cobra Kai delivered its final karate chop on Feb. 13, after the first two parts of Season 6 streamed July 18 and Nov. 15 on Netflix. While fans are still reeling from the epic conclusion between frenemies Daniel Larusso (Ralph Macchio) and Johnny Lawrence (William Zabka), TV critics are praising the final five episodes as “deeply affectionate” and full of “sincerity.” One journalist even compares them to … a charcuterie board?!
Season 6 overall has a Metacritic score of 88 based on 41 reviews. At Rotten Tomatoes, where reviews are classified simply as positive or negative as opposed to Metacritic’s sliding scale from 0 to 100, the final season is rated 67 percent fresh based on 11 reviews.
The main cast members for the last run of episodes include Macchio as Daniel Larusso, Zabka as Johnny Lawrence, Courtney Henggeler as Amanda Larusso, Xolo Maridueña as Miguel Diaz, and Tanner Buchanan as Robby Keene. The showrunners-producers are Hayden Schlossberg, Jon Hurwitz, and Josh Heald.

Madeleine McGraw and her sister Violet McGraw have had separate successes in the horror genre, with Madeleine having a standout role in The Black Phone and Violet dealing with M3GAN (plus playing roles in the Mike Flanagan projects The Haunting of Hill House and Doctor Sleep). Ahead of that date, a trailer for the film has arrived online and can be seen in the embed above.

For the horror heads among us, perusing a streamer's genre page can be a goldmine of camp opportunities or disturbing folk horror to keep us up at night, but it can also be home to some of the most tedious stories put to film. Whether it's an ill-advised continuation of a franchise or an adaptation in the wrong hands, even the mighty Netflix isn't immune to acquiring, producing, and/or distributing some stinkers. In fact, they tend to excel at it.
While Rotten Tomatoes isn't the be-all and end-all of movie criticism (and it almost seems to be trying to discredit it more and more), it can provide a quick temperature check to a movie's well being -- a helpful measure for all of us when considering how we want to spend our time rotting away on the couch. Mileage can vary on how much to trust the aggregated rating of a bunch of critics,...

Say what you will about big movies bypassing the theatrical experience, but this week's most-watched Netflix titles make one thing clear: star power still matters, even on streaming. Case in point: "The Union," a new Netflix Original movie starring Halle Berry and Mark Wahlberg that's been climbing the viewership charts since its release last week, according to streaming chart data site FlixPatrol.
Action rom-com "The Union" is currently beating away the rest of the competition on Netflix's top 10 most-watched list, which as of publication time is mostly made up of family films like "The Super Mario Bros. Movie," "Migration," and "Trolls Band Together." Kids who demand a dozen rewatches of their animated favorites clearly have nothing on grown-ups who have been itching to see Berry back in action for the first time in a few years, though.

The Walking Dead: The Ones Who Live is receiving positive reviews, with critics praising the return of Rick and Michonne and the strength of their bond. The spinoff is considered one of the franchise's best, capturing sincerity that previous spinoffs lacked. While it may not be a good entry point for new viewers, The Ones Who Live offers a conspiracy thriller with the scale of a blockbuster zombie movie. However, some critics feel that it lacks the revitalization the franchise needs.

Set after the conclusion of the original series, the sixth spinoff in the franchise features the return of Rick Grimes, who was taken away in a Crm helicopter, and Michonne as she searches for him. Warning: The following contains Spoilers for The Full Monty reboot.
The reboot series brings back fan-favorite icons in The Full Monty reboot cast and also introduces some intriguing new characters. When it was released in 1997, The Full Monty became a surprise hit. It was nominated for four Academy Awards, grossed more than $247 million (via Box Office Mojo), and was acclaimed by critics, earning a near-perfect Rotten Tomatoes score of 96%. The Full Monty was noted for using its raunchy, humorous high-concept premise of a group of men putting on a striptease act to address serious social issues like unemployment, divorce, sexual identity, and mental health.
It was ranked in the 25th spot on the BFI’s list of the top 100 British films of all time (via the BBC), so it made sense to revisit these beloved characters and tell a new story. The sequel series released on FX, Hulu, and Disney+ and picked up 25 years later.

Leave it to “Toy Story” to grapple with the big questions in life. Why are we here? Why are we alive? What is life about? And who — or what — is Forky?
That’s the question confusing many online after Disney and Pixar released the first teaser for “Toy Story 4.” The trailer features the toys prancing in a slow motion circle to the tune of Joni Mitchell’s “Both Sides Now,” only for a spork with googly eyes and red pipe cleaners (as voiced by “Veep’s” Tony Hale) to shriek in terror, “I don’t belong here.”
Because Forky may not be a “toy.” Director Josh Cooley explains in the announcement for the teaser that he is an actual spork-turned-craft-project. And though Bonnie, the new young girl and owner of all of Andy’s old toys, plays with Forky as though he were one, he feels he doesn’t belong.

Is Liam Neeson’s new movie, “Hard Powder” where he plays a snowplow driver seeking revenge, the gritty reboot of Homer Simpson’s Mr. Plow we never knew we needed?
Probably not, but that didn’t stop people on the internet from making the same reference to a classic “Simpsons” episode, where Homer Simpson becomes Springfield’s favorite snow plow driver.
“Man, the Mr. Plow sequel got Dark,” wrote sports media website Awful Announcing’s Andrew Bucholtz.

Dead List
Stars: Holden Andrews, Nick Bandera, Lauren Compise, Erin Darling, Alixzandra Dove, Josh Eichenbaum, Matt Fowler, Lindsey Grubbs, Rob Healy, Alexandra Corin Johnston, Eric Pierce, Alexandra Costa, Brad Gage | Written and Directed by Holden Andrews, Ivan Asen, Victor Mathieu
Age: Released in 2018
Appearance: Straight to VOD anthology horror film. Occasionally wonky, sometimes amateurish but never ever boring. Some decent gore and a few laughs along the way.
Death Note. I mean Dead List!
Cool! I love horror anthologies! Creep Show, Asylum, Cat’s Eye…
It doesn’t quite reach those dizzying heights.
Ah, more like Tales from the Crapper than Tales from the Crypt then?
I wouldn’t say that either. It does have low production values and sometimes feels like a home movie, which might put some people off but if you stick with it, you will find a fun ride that is both creative and charming.

TV critics are so head over heels with Season 11 of “The X-Files” that it was just certified fresh at review aggregate site Rotten Tomatoes. That means the season has a score of 75% or higher after a set amount of reviews, including five from their Top Critics. In fact, Season 11 has an average rating of 82% so far, eclipsing the 64% score for 2016’s uneven Season 10 revival. Among the many accolades, Gillian Anderson is being heralded for her “truly dynamite performance” as FBI Agent Dana Scully. Do you agree with critics that “The X-Files” is better than ever?
Anderson got to show her acting chops in last week’s fifth episode, titled “Ghouli,” as Scully cried over the dead body of a young man that she believed to be her son, William. Fans also saw a softer side of Anderson’s longtime partner in crime David Duchovny (FBI Agent Fox Mulder) in the...

Warning: Full spoilers for the first two episodes Game of Thrones season 6 follow... It wouldn't be Game of Thrones is there wasn't one great mystery presented just as another is solved. During the final moments of episode 2, "Home," Jon Snow opened his eyes upon the world once again, finally ending months of evasive answers from both actor Kit Harington and executive producers David Benioff and D.B. Weiss about the character's ultimate fate. Just as they moved past one big question mark, however, the series presented another. One that book readers have never heard. Hodor. The long-beloved gentle giant (well, not literally) of the series has mostly been considered amazing, but in all likelihood disposable. No longer. During the episode's opening sequence, we saw a flashback (via Bran's vision) of a young Ned, Lyanna, and Benjen Stark. Also present was Hodor as a boy...only he wasn't named Hodor. He was named Wylis and He.

In the age of Peak TV, the quest for the instantly perfect can be the enemy of the eventually good. Once upon a time, the decision to commit to a TV show had as much to do with what it might become as what it was at the moment. Rare is the show that's a Hall of Famer right out of the box, so there's always been guesswork involved: Do I like this premise? These characters? Do the parts I enjoy seem likely to stay while the parts I don't disappear? What's the best possible version of this show, and what are the chances it actually becomes that? In those days, a patient viewer might have endured the early growing pains of shows like Seinfeld, Buffy, Parks and Recreation, or even Breaking Bad, and in time been rewarded by those shows transforming their potential energy into the actual, kinetic kind.

Happy Friday! We don't always do immediate follow-ups to Ask Alan questions, but one of this week's emailers gave me a very obvious counter for last week's discussion of whether The Walking Dead is the most overrated TV show ever. In addition, I talked about one of my favorite examples of a long-gestating plot point finally paying off, and got a chance to talk about my favorite current TV show, The Leftovers. (For those wondering about the Person of Interest road map I allude to in that discussion, it's something Matt Fowler wrote for IGN.) As usual, you can watch the video at the top and bottom of this post. And, as usual, you can send questions to askalan@hitfix.com.

The dreamy Winchester Brothers (Jensen Ackles, l, and Jared Padalecki) of Supernatural
Midway through the eighth season of the CW thriller Supernatural, our favorite Winchester brothers, Dean and Sam (played by Jensen Ackles and Jared Padalecki, both of whom broke the top 10 on 2012 AfterElton Hot 100 list) are still fighting off evil demons, corrupt angels and the occasional visit to hell and/or purgatory. All without their perfect faces and hair getting too messy.
The show brought in a new showrunner, Jeremy Carver, for Season 8. We've gathered some great online TV critics to weigh in on how things are going. Do we need more Benny and Kevin? What about a Castiel spin-off (starring another Hot 100 regular, Misha Collins)? And, of course, whether this should be the final season or if there’s still plenty of life left in the show.

Now that NBC’s The New Normal is off and running, it’s time to turn our attention to the other gay-centric sitcom offering in the new Fall TV season, which premiered last night on CBS.
