Amy McAllister is an actor, writer, and poet from Ireland. She grew up in Tallaght, a working-class housing project on the outskirts of Dublin. McAllister made her feature film debut in the BAFTA award-winning Philomena (2013) which starred Judi Dench and Steve Coogan. She first hit television screens in the popular BBC drama Call the Midwife (2012). Other television projects include A Discovery of Witches (2018), Breeders (2020), There She Goes (2018), Witless (2016), and Miss Scarlet & the Duke (2020). Amy has also worked extensively in theatre in the UK, Ireland, Germany, Sweden, and Australia with companies such as Soho Theatre, the Royal Shakespeare Company, the Abbey, the Bush, the Arcola, and the Royal Court. As a poet, Amy has performed at the Royal Albert Hall, Udderbelly, the Royal Festival Hall, and at the European Poetry Slam Final in Berlin. She trained at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama and lives in London.
