Cartoon Network Has Good News for One Piece Fans
Image
With Dragon Ball Z Kai sadly finishing up its run on Cartoon Network's Toonami programming block, viewers have been wondering for some time now about what might happen with the time slot. While it was speculated that Kai might begin to loop and start again, it seems that Cartoon Network has other plans -- specifically, for One Pieceanime fans.

Previously, the Cn News/Schedules account on X (formerly Twitter) had reported that Dragon Ball Z Kai would be looping back to episode one, hinting at Toonami only having the rights to the first 47 episodes of Kai. However, it seems plans have changed, with the same account reporting that the scheduling changes have gone in a different direction. The scheduling change was also backed up by an Adult Swim news X account, as seen below.

'We Messed Up': One Piece Character Designer Believed Its Most Successful TV Special Was 'A Mistake'

In October 2024, Toei Animation released One Piece Fan Letter -- a one-off TV special that looks at the life and the adventures of the Straw Hats through the eyes of various side characters. Because of the episode's unique narrative structure, a few major staff members, including animation director and character designer Keisuke Mori, were initially fearful that it would not be accepted by anime fans.

Anime News Network recently shared a translated version of NewType's joint interview with Mori, One Piece Fan Letter director Megumi Ishitani and screenwriter Momoka Toyoda. Here, they opened up about the creative process behind developing the special, which has become extremely popular with One Piece fans. "After it aired, people were saying things like, 'I want to go back and read the original.' And that made me so happy. I feel so relieved now," Ishitani stated. The idea for Fan Letter originated from Tomohito Ohsaki's light novel,...

10 Weak Anime Villains Who Are Still Extremely Dangerous

However, while powerful villains will probably be a defining trait of the anime medium for the foreseeable future, plenty of weaker antagonists also pose a threat to the heroes of their respective series. Whether through trickery, blatant manipulation, or some other mechanism, these weak villains are still extremely dangerous to the average do-gooder.

One Piece episode #1120 was a somewhat lackluster conclusion to the Levely flashback in terms of presentation, but it still did a good job of setting things up for episode #1121 and beyond.
