Image
From $500K In Speed To $74 Million In Gravity—Sandra Bullock’s Journey To Her Biggest Paycheck (Photo Credit – YouTube)

Hollywood has often seen multiple talented actresses squabble over getting a role in a movie and sharing their regret if that didn’t work out. In the film industry, many divas start off with small roles and then, after a mindboggling performance, they become famous all over. Sofia Vergara has been such an actress. She had made a name for herself in the industry after featuring in Modern Family for 11 years, which ended in 2020. But many might not know that she had become the highest-paid actress in that same year.

However, despite becoming the highest-paid Hollywood actress, she couldn’t surpass Sandra Bullock’s paycheck for Gravity. Yes, that’s right. In her whole career, Bullock got her highest salary for that movie, and many people have no idea about it.

In 2013, the actress starred in a film called Gravity, which ended up being her most impressive work to date. It earned her a second Academy Award nomination and gained her an immense amount of acclaim from critics and audiences alike.

However, it would seem that this role wasn’t easy for the actress to do, with Bullock being depressed by the end of filming.

Wolfs Cast & Character Guide
Image
Apple TV+'s new crime comedy, Wolfs, relies significantly on the star power of its cast. Directed by Spider-Man: No Way Home's Jon Watts, the 2024 movie sees two professional fixers tasked with the same gig, forcing them to put aside their egos and preferences to operate together. The film takes elements of fixer classics like Michael Clayton and dry buddy-cop comedies like The Nice Guys, building toward a fun new thriller. It also serves as an Ocean's franchise replacement for the two main stars, George Clooney and Brad Pitt.

The Wolfs cast isn't very large, with most of the screen time occupied by the two leads. The best fixer movies typically spend most of their time following the lead as they navigate a city and their crime situation. However, there's always a need for supporting characters, and Wolfs has several recognizable actors who appear for just a brief portion of the film.

The Opening Oner In Gravity Is The Best Action Scene Ever
Image
(Welcome to Best Action Scene Ever, a column dedicated to breaking down the best, most effective action sequences throughout the genre. In this edition, we revisit the groundbreaking triumph of Alfonso Cuarón's "Gravity" and the adrenaline-pumping thrills of that opening one-shot sequence.)

Space is where things go to die. Whether it's literal stars going supernova, another of Elon Musk's Space-x rockets experiencing a "rapid unscheduled disassembly," or poor George Clooney on his last-ever mission to the International Space Station, the seemingly infinite vacuum surrounding our planet and the rest of the entire known universe is as inhospitable as environments get. So the fact that humanity keeps encroaching on this final frontier despite the mind-melting risks either speaks to our relentless industriousness as a species ... or our unparalleled pigheadedness. What "Gravity" suggests is: What if it were both?

Director Alfonso Cuarón's 2013 masterpiece is easy to praise as a technological marvel,...

Shooting Gravity Kept Sandra Bullock Isolated Up To Eleven Hours A Day
Image
In space, no one can hear you scream when Russians shoot down a spy satellite, causing a cloud of debris that destroys the International Space Station where you happen to be on board. In the spectacular opening sequence of Alfonso Cuarón's "Gravity," starring Sandra Bullock and George Clooney, a phenomenon known as a Kessler Syndrome catastrophe takes place when space pollution tears into the modules, trusses, and solar arrays of the Iss in a sudden, terrifying accident.

Bullock's character, Ryan Stone, is sent hurtling out into the deep reaches of space. Understandably, she's panicked, disoriented, and deeply shaken. In a hostile environment where sound doesn't travel due to the lack of oxygen, all Stone can hear is the deep gulps of breath she's taking and the sound of her own rapid heartbeat. Stone is utterly alone, foreshadowing her isolation and self-reliance later on in "Gravity" where she has...
