Ray Romano has come a long way since he played Raymond Barone on his hit sitcom “Everybody Loves Raymond.”

Romano, who played a lawyer in Martin Scorsese’s “The Irishman, told Vanity Fair he wrote a backstory for the character. It’s a device he’s actually used for each dramatic role he’s played since joining NBC dramedy “Parenthood” in 2012. The only difference was that his role in “The Irishman” was based on a real-life mob attorney. Going through that process for a real person with a thorny past was a much more difficult process than he was used to.

“Everybody Loves Raymond” star Ray Romano partners with fellow comedy icon Lisa Kudrow for mystery-comedy series “No Good Deed,” hailing from “Dead to Me” creator Liz Feldman.

The Netflix series is produced by Will Ferrell’s production company Gloria Sanchez Productions, and boasts an ensemble cast including Denis Leary, Abbi Jacobson, Poppy Liu, O-t Fagbenle, Teyonah Parris, Luke Wilson, Linda Cardellini, Matt Rogers, Rory Scovel, and Linda Lavin.

The official synopsis reads: “When Lydia (Kudrow) and Paul (Romano) decide to move on from their empty nest to forge a new life, they list their gorgeous 1920s Spanish-style villa located in one the most desirable neighborhoods in Los Angeles — and the real estate frenzy begins. Multiple families all race to buy what they believe to be their dream house, convinced it will fix all of their very different problems. But as Lydia and Paul know all too well,...

The film from writer-director Dimitri Logothetis (Jiu Jitsu), which is currently shooting in Alabama, follows Special Ops veteran Lee Gunner (Hemsworth) as he takes his two sons on a fishing trip to reconnect. The trip soon turns awry when the boys stumble upon a massive drug running operation and are kidnapped by Dobbs (Jenkins), the son of gang kingpin Kendric Ryker (Freeman) who runs his organization from prison.
