Nell Fisher, Gabrielle Echols, Alyssa Sutherland, and Morgan Davies in Evil Dead Rise (2023)
Sébastien Vaniček’s Evil Dead Burn script is unlike any other Evil Dead
Nell Fisher, Gabrielle Echols, Alyssa Sutherland, and Morgan Davies in Evil Dead Rise (2023)
In the build-up to the release of Evil Dead Rise (read our review right Here) in 2023, Evil Dead franchise rights holders Sam Raimi, Bruce Campbell, and Rob Tapert let it be known that they were already looking forward to producing more entries in the series, with Campbell revealing they were hoping to make a new sequel / spin-off every two or three years. Last year, they proved their commitment to this idea by hiring Sébastien Vaniček, who made his feature directorial debut on the French horror film Vermin, a.k.a. Infested, to write and direct a new installment in the franchise, which is going by the title Evil Dead Burn. In recent months, we’ve been seeing casting announcements: Dune: Part Two‘s Souheila Yacoub, a Swiss former rhythmic gymnast who won the Miss Suisse Romande beauty pageant before getting her acting career started, landed the lead role and has...

12 Best TV Shows to Watch on Starz Right Now
Image
When it comes to streaming platforms, Starz often feels like the middle child in a very crowded family. You’ve got the older, more established siblings like Netflix, HBO, and Disney+ hogging the spotlight. Then there are platforms like Apple TV+, steadily rising with standout originals and big names. And somewhere in between sits Starz, the underdog sibling that doesn’t get talked about as much, but still manages to deliver.

While it may not dominate headlines or spark social media buzz, Starz has quietly built a killer lineup of original TV series. Whether you’re into absurd comedies, dramas, or edge-of-your-seat thrillers, there’s something in its catalog that’ll hook you. And the best part? A lot of these shows are still overlooked, making them hidden gems.

If you’ve been bouncing between the same few platforms and want to try something different, now’s a great time...

The Greatest Horror Reboot of the 2010s Slashes Its Way Onto Hulu Next Month
Image
One of the first horror movies of the 2010s to kick off the genre's reboot craze is heading to Hulu. Fede Álvarez's Evil Dead will land on the streamer at the top of next month.

Beginning August 1, Evil Dead will be available to stream on Hulu. Released in 2013, the supernatural horror movie serves as both a soft reboot and continuation of the Evil Dead franchise, following a new set of protagonists who come under attack by dead people in a remote cabin in the woods. Although the reboot received mixed reviews from critics, with review aggregator website Rotten Tomatoes noting an approval rating of 63%, it was a box office success, earning just under $98 million worldwide off a $17 million production budget.

The Evil Dead franchise began in 1981 with writer/director Sam Raimi's low-budget horror film The Evil Dead, starring Bruce Campbell as Ash Williams. Following the massive success of The Evil Dead,...

Bruce Campbell Turned Down Big MCU Roles For Years — Then Cracked A Cameo In Doctor Strange 2 With The Most Bruce Campbell Line Ever
Image
Bruce Campbell’s Pizza Poppa Cameo in Doctor Strange 2 Is Peak Chaos—and Totally Iconic(Photo Credit –YouTube)

Bruce Campbell has always marched to the beat of his own bloody, chainsaw-wielding drum. So when the MCU came knocking with big roles? He said no. Repeatedly. That’s the kind of chaotic energy only Campbell can pull off — the cult legend who could have been a major Marvel baddie, but instead chose to beat himself up in a pizza cart for two glorious scenes.

Turns out, he wasn’t looking for franchise fame. He was looking for something smaller. Something… stranger.

“Well, the MCU just finally caught up with me. Because I’ve turned them down for so many of these big parts. And they said, ‘How about a small part instead?’ I go, ‘You know what? That’s what

I’m looking for,’” Campbell joked during San Diego Comic-Con, per Screenrant.

Dead by Daylight trailer: Five Nights at Freddy’s character Springtrap is joining the game
Jason Blum and Gavin Magnus in Dead by Daylight
Behaviour Interactive’s global multiplayer horror video game Dead by Daylight just celebrated its 9th anniversary, and it’s still adding new content. In fact, there’s going to be a cool new addition to the game tomorrow, June 17th, as the Five Nights at Freddy’s character Springtrap will be joining in on the horrific fun! To give a preview of Springtrap in action, a trailer has been released and can be seen in the embed above.

Here’s some information on the video game: Dead by Daylight is a multiplayer (4vs1) horror game where one player takes on the role of the savage Killer, and the other four players play as Survivors, trying to escape the Killer and avoid being caught, tortured and killed. Survivors play in third-person and have the advantage of better situational awareness. Since its launch in 2016, Dead by Daylight has reached over 50 million players worldwide,...

Evil Dead Burn: Horror Spin-Off Finds Its Lead In Dune: Part Two Actress Souheila Yacoub
Image
Sébastien Vaniček's Evil Dead Burn is preparing to enter production in New Zealand, and Variety reports that Dune: Part Two's Souheila Yacoub is set to play the lead role.

Yacoub had a small, but memorable supporting part in Denis Villeneuve's sequel as Fremen warrior Shishakli, who sacrifices her life to give her people time to escape a Harkonnen attack.

Vaniček made his feature directorial debut with Vermin/Vermine, aka Infested, which focused on the residents of a rundown French apartment building attempting to survive when an army of venomous, rapidly reproducing spiders invade.

The movie garnered a lot of acclaim, and won Best Picture and Best Director in its North American premiere at Fantastic Fest. It was also invited to the Sitges Film Festival, where it earned a nomination for Best Motion Picture and won a Special Jury Prize.

Whether this new movie will bring back Bruce Campbell's Ash Williams is unclear,...

'Evil Dead Burn' Director Wants to Leave Audiences Drained
Image
The Evil Dead have successfully risen and now with they will burn, and filmmaker Sébastien Vaniček wants to make sure audiences really feel the heat when the film hits cinemas. Having already delivered an incredible debut with “Vermines” (“Infested”), he is now ready to get his hands on one of two upcoming movies based on the original “video nasty,” with the intention of putting audiences through a grueling cinematic experience.

It was earlier announced that the film would become the third film in the franchise to be led by a female star, following Fede Alvarez’s remake of the original 1981 movie, and last year’s Evil Dead Rise, with Dune: Part Two actress Souheila Yacoub set to star. For Vaniček, who co-wrote the screenplay with Florent Bernard, he knew exactly who he wanted for this new addition to the Evil Dead legacy. He told Variety:

“I’ve long admired Souheila’s work in France,...

Takashi Shimizu
This Terrifying J-Horror Remake Is Now Streaming For Free!
Takashi Shimizu
The early aughts launched a wave of horror remakes, but they’re especially known as an era full of American remakes of Japanese horror classics. One such adaptation is Takashi Shimizu‘s 2004 film, The Grudge, based on the Japanese film Ju-On: The Grudge, which Shimizu directed in 2002. It’s not often the original director is brought on for the American adaptation, so this is a fascinating film even for just that reason.

In the film, “An American nurse living and working in Tokyo is exposed to a mysterious supernatural curse, one that locks a person in a powerful rage before claiming their life and spreading to another victim.“

The Grudge stars horror icon Sarah Michelle Gellar, as well as Jason Behr (Roswell) and Clea DuVall (The Faculty). It was a massive hit upon release, raking in a reported $187.3 million on a $10 million budget. It was released when I was a kid,...

"Dead End": Bruce Campbell Reacts to a Disappointing Evil Dead Franchise Update
Image
Not so groovy news for fans of The Evil Dead. Nearly three years after its release to critical acclaim, Saber Interactive's asymmetrical survival horror title Evil Dead: The Game is being pulled from Steam, Sony, and other digital storefronts with no reason given behind the removal. The developer confirmed the news on Wednesday, thanking supporters and writing, "Anyone who has purchased the game will still be able to play it as we plan to keep our servers online for everyone.” Since the axing of sales, Bruce Campbell, who reprized his role as Ash Williams for the game, has reacted to the adaptation's end, writing, "Dead end."

Evil Dead: The Game was notable for a few reasons. For Campbell, it marked his first time properly stepping back into the shoes of his Deadite-slaying hero since the end of Ash vs Evil Dead in 2018. It wasn't just him, either, as the...

‘Evil Dead: The Game’ Finally Marks Its End After Steam, PlayStation, and Epic Games Removed It
Image
With the flood of new releases each year, it’s easy to overlook just how many games quietly fade away. Behind every flashy trailer is the risk that a title might not land with players, no matter the franchise. Even games backed by major publishers can stumble; when they do, the fall is often silent, slow, and painful.

Evil Dead: The Game is the latest casualty in a brutally competitive industry. Once launched with hope in 2022 by Saber Interactive and Boss Team Games, it now finds itself being removed from major storefronts, an unceremonious end for a game that carried the weight of a legendary horror legacy.

Evil Dead: The Game faces a harsh reality in a crowded gaming landscape

Inspired by Sam Raimi’s cult-classic Evil Dead franchise, Evil Dead: The Game promised a bloody, co-op survival horror experience, complete with iconic characters like Ash Williams and grotesque Southern Gothic settings.

Bram Stoker
This Underrated Vampire Film Starring Ethan Hawke Is Now Streaming For Free
Bram Stoker
I’m a sucker for a good vampire film, whether it features a sexy vampire like Bram Stoker’s Dracula or a nasty one like 30 Days of Night. But one of my personal favorite tales about bloodsuckers is an underrated 2010 release by Michael Spierig and Peter Spierig titled Daybreakers. Boasting an all-star cast and an interesting twist on vampire lore, it didn’t make waves upon initial release. And yet, I still find myself banging the proverbial drum for this film, especially today, because the movie is now streaming for free on Vizio WatchFree+.

Daybreakers takes place in 2019 (ten years in the future upon the film’s initial release) where a plague has transformed a majority of the human population into vampires. But without any humans from which to feed, the vampires are now facing a food crisis. Ethan Hawke plays Edward Dalton, a hematologist working on creating a blood substitute to save humanity.

'Evil Dead' Fans Will Be Able to Buy the Original Necronomicon Prop Book for a Very High Price
Image
The horror genre possibly harbors the most valuable props you can think of. Freddy's glove, Leatherface's chainsaw and, why not, the cup used by the lady in Get Out to hypnotize Chris. Most horror movies have a specific object that fans would like to own. And as it turns out, you can actually buy one of horror's most precious objects:Evil Dead's Necronomicon, a.k.a. the Book of the Dead, which is activated upon reciting some incantations to summon the visciously playful and wicked demons from Sam Raimi's franchise.

Bruce Campbell Considers Returning to the Evil Dead Franchise but on One Condition
Image
Bruce Campbell first gained attention in the horror world when he starred as Ash Williams in the cult classic The Evil Dead in 1981. While the last two Evil Dead projects didn't feature Campbell on center stage, the actor has remained the face of the iconic horror franchise that Sam Raimi created. And though he has been in a number of movies and television shows since then, he'd still want to revisit the iconic character that helped shape him into the actor he is today. However, though the actor expressed his willingness to return to the Evil Dead realm, it is something he's only willing to do under one (understandable) condition.

Evil Dead Star Bruce Campbell Has One Condition To Return As Ash Williams
Image
We may receive a commission on purchases made from links.

Director Sam Raimi and actor Bruce Campbell have worked on four "Evil Dead" film and TV projects together. I needn't reiterate "The Evil Dead" and "Evil Dead 2: Dead By Dawn," as the cultists know them well. However, something happened after Raimi and Campbell made "Army of Darkness" in 1992, completing Ash's arc in the process. That film was distributed by Universal, which positioned it to gain a crossover audience. Sadly, though, it didn't do well at the box office, but became a massive cult hit. It was deeply beloved by many, eventually attaining the same canonized status as its immediate forebear.

In his autobiography "If Chins Could Kill," Campbell laid out the difference between a "cult film" and a "blockbuster." A blockbuster is a million people seeing a film 10 times, and a cult film is 10 people seeing a film a million times.

Film Review: Death Whisperer 2 (2024) by Taweewat Wanta
Image
Fresh off the thrills and spills of the first movie, director/co-writer Taweewat and gang return with another installment of gross-out scares influenced by the great maestro of the macabre, Sam Raimi. This time, the mood is darker, grittier and more action-packed, echoing the same sentiments of the “Evil Dead” series that became a cult classic throughout the years.

Click on the image below to follow our Tribute to Netflix

The hauntings start in 1854, in a field of death and decay playing host to a grueling battle where a soldier, Puang (Yasaka Chaisorn) lies dying minutes before death in the form a bayonet swings towards his throat. Strangely enough, his life is saved by a hideous witch-like creature that emerges from the ground like Sadako (Manita Chobchue in a dedicated makeup-heavy role), and she promises to absolve him if he allows her to place her severed tongue into his throat...

Resurrect Your Appetite with This ‘Army of Darkness’ Necronomicon Lunch Box
Image
Summon the ultimate evil to your lunch table with the Army of Darkness lunch box.

The retro-style tin tote is modeled after the Necronomicon, the ancient Sumerian tome that is bound in human flesh and inked in blood.

Made by Surreal Entertainment, it measures 7.75″ long, 6.75″ tall, and 4″ wide.

A 10-ounce beverage container, featuring artwork from the interior pages of the Book of the Dead and a soup cup lid, is included.

Due out in May, the Previews exclusive product is up for pre-order for $24.99.

Bruce Campbell reprises his iconic role of Ash Williams in the 1992 third installment in Sam Raimi‘s Evil Dead franchise, but I dig that the lunch box doesn’t try to shoehorn him in.

This Wacky Bruce Campbell Line Ties ‘Army of Darkness’ to a Classic ’50s Sci-Fi
Image
One of the funniest scenes in cult classic Army of Darkness features Bruce Campbell’s Ash Williams arriving at the Necronomicon’s location, only to forget the last word of the phrase needed that will allow him to pick it up safely. So he mumbles, he coughs, and just generally mispronounces it altogether. That phrase is “Klaatu barada nikto,” and if it sounds familiar, it should. "Klaatu barada nikto" was first spoken on film in the 1951 sci-fi classic The Day the Earth Stood Still.

This 31-Year-Old Italian Zombie Movie Is 1 of the Most Underrated Horror Films of the '90s
Image
In 1968, George Romero's Night of The Living Dead made its theatrical debut and became a horror landmark. The film popularized zombies as midnight monsters, laying the foundation for an entire subgenre in the process. For years, theaters were filled with features catering to America's obsession with the living dead. Some, like Romero's Dawn of The Dead, were cinematic masterstrokes, while others faded into obscurity. Eventually, the genre found success outside the confines of film. AMC created a pop culture sensation with The Walking Dead, and the show was a franchise juggernaut in its prime. That being said, this forgotten Italian B-movie is quite possibly the most interesting piece of zombie media ever produced.

Directed by Michele Soavi, Cemetery Man is an incredibly unconventional take on an admittedly well-tread genre. Rupert Everett stars as Francesco Dellamorte, a cemetery caretaker and reluctant watchdog. Every night, he observes zombies rising from...

15 Best Medieval Movies, Ranked
Image
Men in suits of armor. Courtly romance. Raging bouts of plague and pillaging. All these and more are the hallmarks of a good old-fashioned medieval movie. So many of our most enduring legends have their start in the Middle Ages, from King Arthur and Knights of the Round Table to Robin Hood, and for good reason -- their classic tales of adventure and noble battles for justice have won over audiences for hundreds of years.

Although adventures are never in short supply, whether our heroes are off fighting in the Crusades, waging a seemingly endless war in France over the right to rule France, or battling smaller tyrannies on the home front, films set in medieval times aren't just limited to the action genre. We've put together a comprehensive list of some of the best medieval films of all time, running the gamut from dramas and tales of adventures to horror,...

Jane Levy in Evil Dead (2013)
All Evil Dead Movies Ranked from Worst to Best
Jane Levy in Evil Dead (2013)
The “Evil Dead” movies have been the brainchild of Sam Raimi, who was very much inspired by the works of Hp Lovecraft and the mythology of the “Necronomicon.” The Necronomicon is usually a fictional grimoire appearing in Lovecraft’s horror tales. In the Evil Dead movies, the “Necronomicon Ex-Mortis” is the fictional grimoire usually playing havoc upon a group of unsuspecting inhabitants who chance upon the book (usually in a cabin in the woods) and attempt to read it, causing chaos.

Practical effects usually characterize the “Evil Dead” movies, with ample amounts of gore and a blend of horror and dark comedy, at least in terms of the original trilogy that Raimi directed. The newer versions skew more towards a dark, horror bent, but the gore remains consistent. Also consistent is the protagonist, Ash Williams (Bruce Campbell), who appears in all five films as well as the television series.

Ash dons his S-Mart uniform from the end of the film, complete with boomstick and mechanical hand. His possessed counterpart Evil Ash is ready for battle with a sinister sneer and medieval weaponry.

Both characters were played to perfection by Bruce Campbell in Sam Raimi‘s third entry in the Evil Dead franchise.

Incredible Western TV Shows Canceled After 1 Season
Image
The Western genre may not be as popular as it once was, especially on television, but that doesn't mean there aren't great stories still being told on the medium. Popular Western shows like Deadwood and Justified were consistently thrilling and garnered many fans in the process. On the other hand, there are stellar Western shows that have fallen under the radar because they only lasted one season.

Whether because of low ratings, an inability to find a larger audience or the narrative told everything it needed to, these series were axed after their sole season. Regardless if the shows originated in the modern era or before the 21st century, they remain a welcoming treat for Western genre fans. From cult classics like Firefly to underrated miniseries like The Good Lord Bird, these Western shows provided amazing storytelling in a single season.

10 Over-The-Top Horror Movie Performances That Are Still Iconic
Image
Horror movies have a long-standing reputation for over-the-top performances, with some of them standing the test of time despite their aggressive camp. Performances in horror movies often go overlooked, with a high degree of acting skill necessary to convey the heart-thumping terror of one's life being endangered by a masked serial killer or a supernatural entity from beyond the grave. While certain horror movies do excel with the subtlety of their performances, is the bombastic, over-the-top characters that are recognized even years later.

There are a wide variety of horror movie characters that might necessitate a campy, no-holds-barred performance. Most obviously, many horror movie villains require an actor willing to get big and loud with their takes, making themselves into a ferocious predator operating beyond the confines of typical human interaction. In other cases, the victims themselves may need to get wild and wicked with their performances, requiring actors to...

Evil Dead Burn: Confirmation & Everything We Know
Image
After the popularity of Evil Dead Rise in 2023, another Evil Dead movie is in the works and there are already a ton of exciting updates about Evil Dead Burn. Debuting in 1981 with the release of The Evil Dead, the legendary horror franchise follows various poor souls as they encounter the Necronomicon, the book of the dead which has the power to summon demon-like deadites that possess the bodies of the living. Though the original film was a gritty masterpiece of terror, the sequels became increasingly silly and deftly mixed black humor with horror.

The original trilogy followed Ash Williams, played by horror icon Bruce Campbell, and was very much carried by the B-movie actor's charisma and wit. However, after the release of 1992's Army of Darkness, the franchise went dormant until 2013's eponymous remake, where the franchise's continuity was somewhat rudderless. Then, Evil Dead Rise took the series in a...

Evil Dead Spin-Off From Vermin Director Sébastien Vaniček Gets Official Title; Set For Release In 2026
Image
Director Lee Cronin's recent Evil Dead Rise proved to be a big success for Sam Raimi and Robert Tapert’s Ghost House Pictures (grossing $147 million against its $15-19 million budget), so it was inevitable that another instalment in the iconic horror franchise would enter development sooner rather than later.

Back in February, we got word that Vermin director Sébastien Vaniček had been enlisted to co-write and helm the then untitled project, which was described as a spin-off. This indicated that the movie would not be a direct sequel to Rise, but all plot details are still under wraps for the time being.

Now, Vaniček has taken to Instagram to announce that the movie is officially titled Evil Dead Burn, and will be released at some point in 2026.

Evil Dead Burn is coming in 2026 from Infested director Sébastien Vaniček
Image
Evil Dead fans have plenty to look forward to in the coming years as the franchise based on Sam Raimi's original 1981 film continues to evolve.

French director Sébastien Vaniček recently shared an exciting update on the next planned movie in the franchise, which we now know will be titled Evil Dead Burn. The director shared a photo of the screenplay's title page via his social media account, teasing the next chapter. He and Florent Bernard co-wrote the script.

Previously, Lee Cronin wrote and directed the smash hit 2023 movie Evil Dead Rise, starring Alyssa Sutherland and Lily Sullivan as sisters who must combat the Deadites after their kids mistakenly summon them via the infamous Necronomicon, unaware of what the book really entails.

Evil Dead Rise performed very well theatrically, earning more than $147 million and receiving praise from critics. In many ways, Cronin's film felt like a fresh reboot of the long-running franchise,...

Sébastien Vaniček’s Evil Dead Burn is coming in 2026
Image
In the build-up to the release of Evil Dead Rise (read our review right Here) last year, Evil Dead franchise rights holders Sam Raimi, Bruce Campbell, and Rob Tapert let it be known that they were already looking forward to producing more entries in the series, with Campbell revealing they were hoping to make a new sequel / spin-off every two or three years. In February, they proved their commitment to this idea by hiring Sébastien Vaniček, who made his feature directorial debut on the French horror film Vermin, a.k.a. Infested, to write and direct a new installment in the franchise. Now, Vaniček has taken to social media to share a picture of the title page for his script Evil Dead Burn, along with a promise that the film will be released in 2026!

Army of Darkness Finally Answers the Most Annoying Question of the Evil Dead Franchise (Making the Entire Story Even Cooler in the Process)
Image
Warning: Spoilers for Army of Darkness #12!The ever-expanding Army of Darkness comic book franchise adds new context to the overall Evil Dead franchise's most confounding question. Fans often wonder why the opening of Evil Dead II: Dead by Dawn begins with what appears to be a recap of the original Evil Dead movie without the rest of the cast. Either that or Ash decided to go back to the same cabin that caused him grief beforehand.

Thankfully, Army of Darkness Forever #12 by Tony Fleecs, Pop Mhan, Brad Simpson, and Troy Peteri finds a way to canonize the most confusing parable within the Evil Dead franchise. By the series' end, Forever implies that history does repeat itself at the start of Evil Dead 2, as both Ash and the Necronomicon have been trapped in a never-ending time loop of sorts.

The reasoning behind the sequel's openers is complicated and worth delving...

Bruce Campbell Makes Long-Awaited Return to Horror Television in ‘Hysteria!’
Bruce Campbell
Famous horror actor Bruce Campbell is making his return to television horror with the new Peacock series “Hysteria!” The show marks Campbell’s first major horror television role since ending his run on “Ash vs Evil Dead” in 2018. In “Hysteria!,” Campbell plays Chief Dandridge, a police chief investigating strange disappearances in a town gripped by fears of satanic influences.

At 66 years old, Campbell is taking on a very different role than his most famous character, Ash Williams from “The Evil Dead” franchise. Instead of playing an unwitting hero facing supernatural chaos, Chief Dandridge enters as an established authority figure meant to solve the town’s problems. Campbell said this change was an “intriguing contrast” that brought “maturity and gravitas” to his horror work.

Set in the 1980s, “Hysteria!” explores the real-life “Satanic Panic” period where many feared secret occult threats. The show centers on a group of teenagers starting a Satan-inspired band,...
