Jurassic World Rebirth returned to theaters with a quiet start behind the scenes but is now roaring at the box office. The film’s future once looked uncertain when it entered pre-production without a director but that decision from Universal didn’t slow things down.

After two weeks in global release, Rebirth is close to hitting $300 million in the domestic market and $600 million worldwide.

Having completed two weeks of release in theaters worldwide, Universal’s Jurassic World Rebirthis on the verge of passing the $300 million milestone domestically and the $600 million mark worldwide. The seventh installment of the blockbuster action-adventure franchise has a rather cynical origin story, entering pre-production without a director attached. But the studio’s decision has been validated by the movie's box office performance. Rebirth should comfortably cruise past the $700 million milestone this weekend, but on its third Friday, it celebrated passing the lifetime global haul of Warner Bros.’ Kong: Skull Island, the second installment of the studio’s MonsterVerse franchise.

Like anyone who’s played their way through the last 30 years (or more) of Hideo Kojima’s work, I’ve come to expect a certain degree of eccentricity from Aaa gaming’s most distinctive auteur. Be that as it may, Kojima’s fetishistic cinephilia made “Death Stranding” — its cast partially composed of famous directors whose photorealistic likenesses are embodied by actors via performance capture — a uniquely strange experience for movie people like me.

Before either Superman or the Harry Potter HBO series are released, there is a DC movie that's the best of both worlds and is currently making waves on HBO Max. Superman: Red Son, starring Jason Isaacs, is a DC animated feature that has currently found a place on HBO Max's Top 10 charts. Initially released in 2020, this superhero story tells an alternative take on the Man of Steel.

According to FlixPatrol,Superman: Red Son is ranked number 10 on Netflix's Top 10 Movies list for June 2025, just below A Nightmare on Elm Street. The animated feature received strong reviews from critics, earning an 89% average score and strong audience reception, with a 65% rating on Rotten Tomatoes. Based on the 2003 comic book miniseries by Mark Millar, the film was first released digitally in February 2020, followed by a physical release a few months later.

Sydney Sweeney is in final talks to star in Gundam!

The 27-year-old The White Lotus alum is reportedly in discussions to star in the forthcoming live-action Legendary movie, which will be written and directed by Sweet Tooth showrunner Jim Mickle, and co-developed between Legendary and Bandai Namco Filmworks, via Variety.

The Japanese military science fiction media franchise first launched in 1979 as a TV series from Yoshiyuki Tomino, Mobile Suit Gundam. It went on to spawn animated feature films, novels, manga, toys, models and video games.

The Gundam franchise has grown into a juggernaut over the decades, with dozens of TV shows, video games, manga, and much more.

It was recently reported that Sweet Tooth showrunner Jim Mickle has been tapped to write and direct the live-action adaptation of Gundam, which is being co-developed by Legendary and Bandai Namco Filmworks.

We first learned that a live-action Mobile Suit Gundam movie was in development way back in 2018 during the Anime Expo, and in 2021, we finally got an update when it was announced that Jordan Vogt-Roberts (Kong: Skull Island) would direct the project for Netflix.

Vogt-Roberts would later ways with the movie, and Sweet Tooth showrunner Jim Mickle was brought on to replace him. It's been pretty quiet on the Gundam front since, but we now have confirmation (Jeff Sneider first reported the news) that Sydney Sweeney is in final talks to play the lead role.

Plot and character details are currently under wraps.

He may not be returning to Star Wars (yet), but it looks like the Force is bringing together Oscar Isaac and Rogue One director/Andor creator Tony Gilroy. The actor is reportedly set to star in Gilroy's next feature film, a drama about a cello player — though there is very little known about the movie beyond that. If true, it would mark the first time the duo have worked together. The MonsterVerse has always been the subject of leaks and the latest, shared by High on Cinema (via SFFGazette.com), claims to spell out pretty much the entire plot of the Godzilla x Kong sequel.

What are the biggest reveals? Well, Godzilla looks set to take a villainous turn (again), we're getting "zombie" Titans and, as expected, more Mothra after her surprise appearance in The New Empire.

The Peacock horror thriller series “Hysteria!” has been canceled after just one season, Variety has learned exclusively.

The show aired its one and only season at the streamer in October 2024. It had originally been ordered to series in August 2022 and began production in 2023, but was forced to shut down after filming just a few episodes due to the writers’ and actors’ strikes. It eventually resumed production in late 2023.

Peacock does not release viewership data for its shows, so it is difficult to gauge exactly how many people watched “Hysteria!” However, the show did not make an appearance on the weekly Nielsen Top 10 streaming charts upon its release. It was well-received by critics though, holding a 91% critical approval rating on Rotten Tomatoes.

Per Deadline, Stevens is currently in talks to return to the iconic role of Trapper in the next MonsterVerse film. MonsterVerse is one of the most interesting cinematic universes out of all of them. The Warner Bros. and Legendary Pictures-owned franchise has earned over $2.5 billion worldwide and also consists of TV shows on different streaming services but the way it all came together is a bit iffy because of the rights issues and the general laziness that we see in the some of the MonsterVerse films, but still Godzilla vs. Kong is still one of the most iconic movies for me. Just in time for a Halloween binge, Hysteria! is now available on Peacock and, having seen most of the series already, I can definitely say that it's worth your time. A follow-up to 2019s Detective Pikachu may not be dead yet, and per Comicbook.com, a recent hack of Pokmon franchise developer, Game Freak, states a sequel has been in the works since 2021. Several details of the film, including its title, which is said to be The Great Detective Pikachu, were found in the leak.

Team Rocket could be blasting off again as leaked information from Pokmon video game developers, Game Freak, has clued audiences in about a long-awaited Pokmon Detective Pikachu sequel. Starring Ryan Reynolds and Justice Smith, Detective Pikachu was adapted from the popular Pokmon spin-off game of the same name. Reynolds voiced the titular yellow-tailed detective, who led Tim Goodman (Smith) on an investigation to find his missing father.

Game Freak's data hack primarily targeted information about upcoming video game releases. However, among the data was a surprising revelation about Detective Pikachu 2. According to the info, the sequel, titled The Great Detective Pikachu, has been in development since 2021. The leak also revealed that Jordan Vogt-Roberts, best known for Kong: Skill Island, is set to direct the new movie.

The production company behind Top Gun: Maverick is going back to the 1990s for its next attempt at a film franchise. According to a report from The Hollywood Reporter, Skydance has hired Derek Connolly to pen the script for a live-action adaptation of the Sega video game Eternal Champions. There is no timeframe for production on the film yet, and it also has no studio attached. However, with Paramount Global's recent announcement that it has agreed to merge with Skydance, they have become the most likely landing spot for the video game flick.

Skydance has closed a deal with screenwriter Derek Connolly to adapt Sega’s “Eternal Champions” video game series into a feature film, the company announced on Friday.

Originally released in 1993, “Eternal Champions” is a fighting game made for the Sega Genesis console. The game’s story follows an omniscient being known as the Eternal Champion who, in order to change the fate of a world on the brink of collapse, gathers the dead souls of individuals otherwise destined for greatness from different eras in history and pits them against each other in a fighting tournament. Those who lose remain in death, while the last survivor gets to regain their life, in hopes of bringing balance back to the universe.

David Ellison, Dana Goldberg and Don Granger will produce for Skydance. Toru Nakahara will produce for Sega. Rob Ree, who brought Skydance and Sega together, is executive producing. Aimee Rivera will oversee the project for Skydance.

Set to the catchy tunes of Belinda Carlisle's 1987 hit single "Heaven is a Place on Earth," the official teaser video and poster for Peacock's new series Hysteria! has arrived, welcoming viewers to one "hell of a town" where Satanic Panic leads to all manner of macabre mayhem in the late 1980s.
