Having completed two weeks of release in theaters worldwide, Universal’s Jurassic World Rebirthis on the verge of passing the $300 million milestone domestically and the $600 million mark worldwide. The seventh installment of the blockbuster action-adventure franchise has a rather cynical origin story, entering pre-production without a director attached. But the studio’s decision has been validated by the movie's box office performance. Rebirth should comfortably cruise past the $700 million milestone this weekend, but on its third Friday, it celebrated passing the lifetime global haul of Warner Bros.’ Kong: Skull Island, the second installment of the studio’s MonsterVerse franchise.
This comes days after Rebirth passed the $550 million lifetime global haul of Peter Jackson’s King Kong. With around $580 million worldwide, the film has overtaken the $571 million lifetime haul of Kong: Skull Island, which debuted in 2017 and earned mostly positive reviews. In fact, it was the MonsterVerse’s highest-grossing movie until last year,...

Like anyone who’s played their way through the last 30 years (or more) of Hideo Kojima’s work, I’ve come to expect a certain degree of eccentricity from Aaa gaming’s most distinctive auteur. Be that as it may, Kojima’s fetishistic cinephilia made “Death Stranding” — its cast partially composed of famous directors whose photorealistic likenesses are embodied by actors via performance capture — a uniquely strange experience for movie people like me.
Heartman, a scientist who dies every 21 minutes (only to get shocked back to life by the battery pack on his chest shortly thereafter), is modeled after Nicolas Winding Refn. Deadman, a researcher whose body has been Frankensteined together from borrowed parts, is naturally made to resemble Guillermo del Toro. A character known as “The Film Director,” seen only in hologram, is a perfect scan of Jordan Vogt-Roberts, whose long-gestating “Metal Gear Solid” adaptation will probably never be seen at all.

Rob Zombie is known for making horror movies and industrial-flavored heavy metal music, but he isn't the only member of his family to delve into such passions. His brother, Michael David Cummings (more famously known as Powerman 5000 frontman Spider One), also knows how to start a mosh pit and send shivers down the spines of movie fans. As of this writing, Cummings has helmed three horror flicks, but they weren't his only forays into spooky on-screen entertainment.
Before he started directing horror movies, Cummings -- along with "Scrubs" writer Eric Weinberg and Adult Swim alum Curtis Gwinn -- created MTV's short-lived "Death Valley," a mockumentary series about cops and monsters. The story centers around the officers of the Undead Task Force (Utf) and their camera crew as they deal with werewolves, vampires, and zombies in Los Angeles' San Fernando Valley. Think "Reno 911" meets "Brooklyn Nine-Nine" with a...

Over the past few years, Hollywood movies have been soaring in the international market; there has been a shift in the way global audiences react to their movies. There used to be a time when the U.S. box office alone could make or break a movie. Now, China, the world’s second-largest movie market, has become a key contributor to making a Hollywood project successful.
Their taste for high-octane action and emotional epics has led to movies quietly making more money in China than they did back home. Sometimes, the star power, paired with clever marketing, can really elevate a movie’s appeal, turning the projects that once were sometimes meh in the U.S. into global hits.
From movies that feature actors like Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson, Tom Cruise, and Brad Pitt to movies that stand out due to technical marvels and use stunning visuals like the Transformers,...

We first learned that a live-action Mobile Suit Gundam movie was in development way back in 2018 during the Anime Expo, and in 2021, we finally got an update when it was announced that Jordan Vogt-Roberts (Kong: Skull Island) would direct the project for Netflix.
Vogt-Roberts would later ways with the movie, and Sweet Tooth showrunner Jim Mickle was brought on to replace him. It's been pretty quiet on the Gundam front since, but we now have confirmation (Jeff Sneider first reported the news) that Sydney Sweeney is in final talks to play the lead role.
Plot and character details are currently under wraps.
Sweeney’s recent film work includes Madame Web, Immaculate and Ron Howard’s Eden. He may not be returning to Star Wars (yet), but it looks like the Force is bringing together Oscar Isaac and Rogue One director/Andor creator Tony Gilroy. The actor is reportedly set to star in Gilroy's next feature film, a drama about a cello player — though there is very little known about the movie beyond that. If true, it would mark the first time the duo have worked together. But given the talent involved, we could absolutely see it not being the last time these two talented storytellers unite in creative collaboration.
Per the folks over at ComingSoon.net, the film is only in the script stage, with details being kept under wraps. There are, reportedly, several interested studio players involved in negotiations to grab the distribution and/or production rights to the film, currently titled Behemoth. Beyond that, your best guess is as good as ours as far as what will happen.

The MonsterVerse franchise has so far grossed over $2.5 billion at the worldwide box office since launching with Gareth Edwards' Godzilla in 2014. Jordan Vogt-Roberts took charge of Kong: Skull Island before Michael Dougherty expanded the Monsterverse with Godzilla: King of the Monsters.
We finally got a full-blown crossover in Adam Wingard's Godzilla vs. Kong. The filmmaker returned for Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire but won't be back for the next chapter; instead, that will be helmed by I Am Mother director Grant Sputore.
The MonsterVerse has always been the subject of leaks and the latest, shared by High on Cinema (via SFFGazette.com), claims to spell out pretty much the entire plot of the Godzilla x Kong sequel.
What are the biggest reveals? Well, Godzilla looks set to take a villainous turn (again), we're getting "zombie" Titans and, as expected, more Mothra after her surprise appearance in The New Empire.

While it was released to relatively little fanfare in the summer of 2013, the independent coming-of-age dramedy The Kings of Summer ended up having a significant impact on the careers of many of its key collaborators. The film’s director, Jordan Vogt-Roberts, went on to kickstart Legendary’s MonsterVerse with his work on Kong: Skull Island, a film that is still heralded as one of the best in the series. It also featured a breakout role for Nick Robinson, who would go on to star in commercial hits such as the LGBTQ dramedy Love, Simon, and the first entry in the Jurassic World trilogy. Despite playing a relatively small role in the film, future The Boys star Erin Moriarty would also have her breakout role with an integral performance in The Kings of Summer.

MonsterVerse is one of the most interesting cinematic universes out of all of them. The Warner Bros. and Legendary Pictures-owned franchise has earned over $2.5 billion worldwide and also consists of TV shows on different streaming services but the way it all came together is a bit iffy because of the rights issues and the general laziness that we see in the some of the MonsterVerse films, but still Godzilla vs. Kong is still one of the most iconic movies for me. So, we thought of compiling every project that exists in the MonsterVerse and ranking them according to their Rotten Tomatoes score, here it is.

The long-in-development Gundam movie seemingly lost one director but gained a new one. Created by Yoshiyuki Tomino and beginning in 1979, Gundam has become one of the biggest global franchises. The series focuses on giant robots, better known as mecha, named Gundams. The franchise generates over $600 million in toys and merchandise sales annually. While the franchise has over 30 anime, it has never generated a live-action film, yet that will soon change as Legendary has acquired the showrunner of the critically acclaimed Netflix series Sweet Tooth.
Deadline reports that Jim Mickle has signed on to direct and write Gundam for Legendary Pictures. Mickle was not only the showrunner and director on Sweet Tooth, but also previously helmed the independent crime thriller Cold in July and the horror film We Are What We Are. Mickle replaces Kong: Skull Island director Jordan Vogt-Roberts, who had been attached to the project since 2021 with a planned Netflix release.

Created by Yoshiyuki Tomino and Sunrise, Gundam has been described as a space opera depicting a battle waged between massive mechs and armies of space colonies fighting for independence from Earth. The Gundam franchise has grown into a juggernaut over the decades, with dozens of TV shows, video games, manga, and much more.

Just in time for a Halloween binge, Hysteria! is now available on Peacock and, having seen most of the series already, I can definitely say that it's worth your time. An 80s-set horror story that doesn't feel like it's focused on nostalgia, Hysteria! has a great cast with great chemistry, and it really does a great job of building up its characters, including its supporting cast, which features Bruce Campbell as the chief of police in a town where satanic panic takes hold. During a recent press day, I caught up with Bruce Campbell, where we talked about his new role and his experience with satanic panic in the 1980s.
Synopsis: "When a beloved varsity quarterback disappears during the “Satanic Panic” of the late 1980s, a struggling high school heavy metal band of outcasts realize they can capitalize on the town’s sudden interest in the occult by building a...

Plot: When a beloved varsity quarterback disappears during the “Satanic Panic” of the late 1980s, a struggling high school heavy metal band of outcasts realize they can capitalize on the town’s sudden interest in the occult by building a reputation as a Satanic metal band, until a bizarre series of murders, kidnappings, and reported “supernatural activity” triggers a leather-studded witch hunt that leads directly back to them.

If you’re a circumspect first-time TV creator given vaguely free rein, you have two choices (for the purposes of this exercise).
One, you can render your vision in the most easily digestible way possible, to make a series that is clearly promotable and satisfyingly resolved, in the hopes of engineering a hit and getting to make other shows in the future.
Or two, you can throw every idea in your brain in the general vicinity of the screen, aware that success is never guaranteed and you may never have another shot.
Sure, the result of the second course of action might be complete and utter chaos that audiences won’t know how to process and networks won’t know how to sell. Still, at least you’ll get the satisfaction of knowing you left nothing on the table.

Matthew Scott Kane and David A. Goodman are taking audiences back to the Satanic Panic for a hilarious and twisty ride with Hysteria!. The TV show serves as Kane's biggest project to date as a writer, having primarily worked as a production assistant on everything from American Horror Story to It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia, while having also penned one episode of the ABC Family sci-fi crime drama Stitchers. Goodman, on the other hand, has six Emmy nominations under his belt for his work on Futurama and Family Guy, while also having worked on Seth MacFarlane's The Orville.
Created by Kane and showrun by him and Goodman, Hysteria! is set in a fictional small Michigan town in the '80s that is rocked by the disappearance of a local varsity quarterback, which seemingly points to a potential Satanic cult in the area. As the investigation continues, a trio...

A follow-up to 2019s Detective Pikachu may not be dead yet, and per Comicbook.com, a recent hack of Pokmon franchise developer, Game Freak, states a sequel has been in the works since 2021. Several details of the film, including its title, which is said to be The Great Detective Pikachu, were found in the leak.
A lot of what was uncovered in the leak had to do with the Pokmon video games, but another movie-related piece of information was found and that was that Kong: Skull Island director Jordan Vogt-Roberts is reportedly connected to the project.

The devil is in the details, or in the case of Hysteria!, in a local heavy metal band.
Hysteria! is one of two original series Peacock has lined up to scare the bejesus out of viewers this Halloween.
The other is Teacup, based on Robert McCammon’s 1988 science fiction horror novel Stinger, set to premiere on October 10.
(Photo: NBCU)
Horror icon Bruce Campbell guest stars in Hysteria! as the town’s police chief, so you know it’s going to be good.
Here’s everything else we know so far about Hysteria!
What is Hysteria About?
Set in the fictional town of Happy Hallow, Michigan, in the 1980s, Hysteria! explores the “satanic panic” of that era.
The story follows a group of high school kids who decide to put the pedal to the metal, literally, by rebranding their heavy metal band as a Satanic metal band.
Why would they do such a devilish thing?...

A few months ago, we got the release of the fifth film in WB/Legendary’s MonsterVerse saga, Godzilla x Kong: The New Era. These films have attempted to somewhat reinvent the traditional Kaiju film for Western audiences, with our mighty monster heroes being called Titans. While the franchise arguably stumbled out of the gate with director Gareth Edwards’ coolly received Godzilla, the saga has steadily grown in popularity, and Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire was a big hit. But how do the films stack up against each other? Let’s take a look with our MonsterVerse Movies Ranked List!
Godzilla (2014)
Audiences were pretty hyped for Gareth Edwards’ 2014 Godzilla reboot, with awesome early trailers that used Ligeti’s Requiem II from 2001: A Space Odyssey, promising the most intense Kaiju movie to date. It didn’t really work out that way, with many complaining about how dull the film was,...

The “Happy Gilmore” actress leads upcoming Peacock series “Hysteria!,” which is set during the “Satanic Panic” of the late 1980s. In the trailer, Bowen is shown as a ’80s housewife who is rocking out with her Walkman…until her microwave seems to become possessed by a “Ghostbusters”-esque demon.
The official synopsis reads: “When a beloved varsity quarterback disappears, a struggling high school heavy metal band of outcasts realize that they can capitalize on the town’s sudden interest in the occult by building a reputation as a Satanic metal band. This is until a bizarre series of murders, kidnappings, and reported ‘supernatural activity’ triggers a leather-studded witch hunt that leads directly back to them.”

Helmed by Jordan Vogt-Roberts, this reimagined origin story propels us onto an untamed Pacific island that’s as treacherous as it is magnificent. The visceral energy of the film carried us away, arousing the same feelings of awe and fear that only splendid visual storytelling can. No surprise then that the movie snagged a Best Visual Effects nomination at the Academy Awards.
With the world still talking about the film, speculation that the Loki star could be the burgeoning MonsterVerse’s Robert Downey Jr. has reached fever pitch.
